Started to look at Outrun. The driver is very preliminary but I have uploaded some screenshots of the current progress. The tile and text layers are fine. Sprites seem to be sorted. The FM sound is there with the funky sound tracks. Just need to finish off the inputs, emulate the road layers and the Sega PCM chip. Then a sort-out and tidy-up and it should be releasable!

Everything is working - even the PCM sound. Just needs a tidy-up and the sprites need to be buffered I think - otherwise it's looking very good!

Buffered the sprites in Outrun now so it's pretty much finished. Added Super Hang-On and Turbo Outrun to the driver too without too much issue.

New Yape release - 12/3/2007

 

After almost exactly one month, another update. This time with these changes:

 

* another new emulation level (VHA, very high accuracy)

* started implementing exact video shift register emulation in VHA mode

* improved PAL-NTSC switch artifacts

* oversampling now also for the SID card

* selectable sound replay frequency

* more fullscreen mode options

* added support for test mode

* bug in the FIR filter fixed

* TED border flipflop check was 1 cycle off

 

The new emulation level implements support for the emulation of the video shift register and also better support for demos that mess with the horizontal counter (about 3 of them exist at the moment). Since about 99.9% of the available programs don't require these to be emulated, it has never been a priority, as they do have a rather high performance hit (about 20 percent but your mileage may vary). The new mode is still experimental and therefore it may not work perfectly in all cases, so please report if you encounter problems. Most users won't have true benefits from this new mode, as it is mostly meant for demo coders or as means for watching the few available demos that require these to be emulated.

Update R4 v1.07 kernel 2007-3-12

After R4DS Kernel upgrade to v1.07, it supports upgrade feature of Skin DIY, which is the expansion of formal feature of Skin DIY, it allows to all options of text colors on the Skin, the more features will be added in coming kernel upgrade.
