The Dumping Project needs your help and an update

    James
    By James,
Once again, we need your help to raise more funds to purchase, archive and emulate more of those rare PCBs.

Recently we, the Dumping Project, have been relying on the generosity of our own members to acquire several boards. Our last fund raising effort yielded about $300 which was great. I myself matched this and sent my donation to Korea to acquire the last batch of PCBs from there. In fact, there have been a couple of sizable cash donations by the Guru and myself. As well as several friends of ours who bought and dumped boards, we pointed out, as donations which saved us quite a bit of cash. However, we are now asking that the massive MAME user base kick in with a little help. There are a couple of auctions coming to end soon and a few we missed due to funds being stretched so thin. Here's a list of what we accomplished recently:

Checking The Guru's site will list most everything. Here's a recap of only the most recent finds:

Go 2000, 98 Grand Pix, Quiz 6000 Academy, Mad Ball, Garokun Seroyang, MaHanSeungBu, Puzzle Bang Bang, Search Eye Plus V2.00, Klondike+, Super Model and Monkey Elf. All of these came from Korea with the help of our Korean contact and my matching donation.

Strider 2 (USA), Bust A Move Again, Mace v1.0B, Point Blank 2 (on Namco System 12), Crazy Wars, Tower Shaft (Aleck 64 cart), Deka Dynamite (Model 2C-CRX), and Knucklebash 2 were purchased on Ebay out the remaining $300 plus donations by the Guru and myself, shipping was another donation by us.

Hot Gimmick Integral, Lead Angle, Salary Man Champ CD, Drummania 7thMIX power-up ver. CD are most recent additions from the Guru and our Japanese contact.

The Guru's tireless efforts have found other rare titles like Ghoul Panic, Skins Game & Kedboardmania 3rdMix along with 20 other titles including the ultra rare Over Rev, all at no cost to the project's funds!!

From our other members (including EMMA Italian Forum) through favors, friends and their own expense countless clones and new games.

If you check the Guru's site you'll easily count over 200 PCBs acquired for archiving. We are working hard to find these new boards and version. Every day we have discussions on were and how to acquire even more boards, but lately these discussions have centered around money and the lack of money.

As you know, now that MAME is at 6,000 sets, the remaining new boards and different versions are becoming harder and harder to find. As such the price for these rare titles goes up. Ever see an Ebay auction tout "Not in MAME", sellers know this automatically drives up the price. I saw game advertised as such called Purple Magic (Unico, 1996) which was a simple Tumble Pop type game... it sold for over $300!!!

This is were YOU can help us! If you can afford a donation even a small one, we'd like to pool it together to continue our efforts. It's easy to do, you can go through the MAMEWorld donation page. These fine gentlemen are always willing to help us out. Or you can send funds, via Paypal, directly to dumpingproject [at] charter.net which will come to me.

If you can help us out, the Dumping Project thanks you!

BrianT and the whole Dumping Project crew
