Xbox 360 Date Set...Again.
[ Xbox.IGN ] has reported that the XBOX 360 date has been delayed again. Hopefully, it won't get delayed anymore. If it does get delayed again, it most likely will be in December because of Christmas time. Remember folks, it's all about the launch games, and no system is good without it.
August 31, 2005 - Microsoft plans to launch the Xbox 360 as late as Friday, November 25, the day after Thanksgiving, with software potentially hitting shelves earlier that week, sources from three US retailers told IGN today.
The three retail chains, all of whom independently pointed to Friday, November 25, as the hardware launch day, received email describing launch data late Monday. Launch day games have been re-assigned from early November to Monday, November 22, as potential first day ship dates. When contacted, Microsoft would not confirm or deny the information. In previous official announcements, Microsoft has said Xbox 360 will vaguely launch this fall.
Why the late date? Microsoft is hoping to give developers as much time as possible to finish and polish their games while simultaneously shipping their concave new box during the most active day in North America. Additionally, independent sources have told IGN that final dev kits haven't replaced the mid-summer beta kits, which has added to developers' frustrations.
Game developers, analysts, and retailers have all been unofficially told by Microsoft that November is the launch month, but even as late as today, when IGN phoned a handful of teams, they were still uncertain of a concrete date. Retailers, have thus far, provided shifting and often conflicting information, but rarely do their dates or numbers match up as evenly as this data.
Is that too late for Microsoft? Hardly. In the current generation, the PS2 was the earliest to launch on October 26, 2000, while Nintendo and Microsoft launches their systems on Sunday November 18, and Thursday November 15, respectively.
We'll have more on the Xbox 360 launch soon.
FCEUXD SP v1.04 released!
FCEUXD SP has been upgraded to v1.04
Release of FCEUXD SP 1.04First the important stuff:
- New: Better error handling
- New: Invalid lines in NL files are now shown to the user instead of being silently ignored. This gives the user the opportunity to fix erroneous lines.
- New: Good news for other developers, all C files added by me are now fully documented.
- Change: Array indices in disassembly windows are now hexadecimal values.
- Bugfix: Fixed a bug that occured when loading the bookmark description of hex bookmarks from disk
- Bugfix: Fixed a bug that occured when using arrays and long comments in symbolic debugging
- Bugfix: Fixed a bug that occured when reading NL files
Now my comment about this release:
This release was mainly a release that's supposed to be the basis for future bugfixing releases. Most of the new stuff I added is of no concern to actual users of the emu. In this release the code was cleaned up and error handling was significantly improved. That means I should be able to find bugs way quicker from now on. At least in theory. Let's hope I'm right here.
I also have a real build script now! Well, OK, it's just a BAT file but that means I probably won't forget to include the readme.txt file in future releases.

1 Day Away to the European PSP Launch!
[ PSPUpdates.com ] has just provided pictures of the Sony PSP's recieved in European Stores. On September 1st, the Sony PSP will be on Sale for everyone to buy finally and legally.
"Our friend Dale from thegamescompany.co.uk (who provided the images) let us know that the European PSPs will be shipped with firmware 1.52 on them and a separate UMD disc which will contain version 2.0. Currently neither firmware versions support the execution of homebrew code to be run on them, but Yoshihiro of team WAB is working on a way to downgrade a 1.52 PSP to 1.50. If you wish to use your PSP for homebrew, do NOT upgrade to version 2.0 as there is no known method to downgrade it."
