    PinMAME 1.52 released!

    Version 1.52 (August 1, 2005) - "The first light doesn't count!"

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We decided as a team that there's no real need to upgrade to the latest M.A.M.E. core. We now have support for all the CPUs ever used on pinball hardware, and all the other type chips that aren't supported yet won't probably be supported by M.A.M.E. anytime soon either, so we'll stick with the tested, proven, reliable, and FAST older 0.76 core. Why break a good thing?

Much to our surprise we've added some nice improvements since the 1.52 beta release just six short weeks ago, so enjoy our latest version!

    Bugs Fixed

    ----------

    - Fixes for Bally Vector switches

    - WMS-S7: Fixed multiplexed solenoids on Defender

    - WMS-S4: Defined missing special solenoids on some games

    - GamePlan: These games are now well behaved on game over/match

    - Bally-35: Fixed switch column 6 on Vector and added some missing sound diagnostic switches

    - Spinball: Some improvements and tweaks. These games should work much better now (We still need to find the roms for Verne's World)

    - Overflow Interrupt handling improved on I8051 CPU core to help prevent hang-ups on Spinball emulation [Thomas Behrens]

    - Mr. Game: Video dip switch bug resolved that permanently disabled collision detection

    - Gottlieb: System3 driver bug found that kept displays from working perfectly, so now all alphanumeric games should have their correct displays [Gerrit Volkenborn, Steve Ellenoff]

    - No Good Gofers flippers working reliably now [Gerrit Volkenborn]

    New Features

    ------------

    - Premier Strikes n' Spares: Support for 2nd DMD, fully working.

    - Mr. Game: Support for 2nd Generation Video & Sound Hardware, working very well, but still some glitches exist.

    - Mr. Game: Rom support for World Cup 90 [steve Ellenoff]

    - Premier Strikes n' Spares: Support for Sound, fully working.

    - Working support for Peyper / Sonic (Spain) hardware

    - Added preliminary support for Playmatic, Sleic (Spain), LTD (Brazil)

    - Sound support for GamePlan Cyclopes and Inder Brave Team [Gerrit Volkenborn]

    - Bally sound diagnostic function implemented [Thomas Behrens]

    - Support for Gottlieb's "Bone Busters Inc." extra DAC sound board [Gerrit Volkenborn, Steve Ellenoff, Tom Haukap, Brian Smith]

    - Added support for ROMs: RCT, Playboy (Stern), NFL, House of Diamonds, Dinosaur Eggs, Mach 2, 250cc, Corsario, Night Moves, alternate sets for Data East Star Wars and Mr. Game Motor Show, and some others.. [all]

    FCEUXD SP 1.03 released!

    Robert
    By Robert,

FCEUXD SP has been upgraded to v1.03

    Description:

FCEUXD SP is a NES Emulator based on the source code of FCE Ultra eXtended-Debug 1.0a.

Its only goal is to improve the debugging experience of NES roms.

    Changes:

    Release of FCEUXD SP 1.03

Here's FCEUXD SP 1.03 which adds some new features and fixes some others. Special thanks goes to TFG who significantly improved and sped up this release with his feedback (which you can see in the FCEUXD SP 1.02 thread).

Here are the changes which are while few quite significant I think:

    - New: Added register P (Program Counter) to the conditional breakpoint expressions.

    - New: There's a new name list file for symbolic debugging. Put all debugging information for addresses

    - New: Added a feature to NL files to support arrays.

    - Bugfix: Names for offsets can now be properly distinguished from byte values. All offsets have the four-byte format $XXXX now (including zero-page offsets) while all byte values have the two-byte format ($XX). This fixes some bugs and issues with NL files.

Enjoy! Just like every release of mine this one's barely tested. I hope you don't find too many bugs. And if you do, report them please.

    SlaunchXP v0.12 released!

    Robert
    By Robert,

I've watched with interest, a new Front-End called SlaunchXP.

The home page is entirely in Japanese, fortunately I found a thread on the Mameworld forum which explains things somewhat.

    Source

It's a pretty darn good frontend. The first combo box on the top left allows you to choose your hardware (read: console), currently selected is the Super Famicom mode. It also allows you to choose your emulator with the combo box to its right, currently chosen is "Unofficial SNES9x". We can see our game listing below the both of them, along with a neat game area at top right (currently playing: "Fire Emblem - Torakia 776"). Some other neat features line the bottom right. Found this shot at the same link.

Rather neat in my opinion, even though I'm not a hardcore frontend user myself.

    -----

Arcade abilities confirmed. Menu two, option two, suboption three...

Holy crap. Also confirmed a lot of other goodies, for those interested in a bit of info about this frontend as a whole, read on...

The second menu, first option enables you to give names to and locations for five ROM folders, the choices are in the same format as those for what is below. For those who have more than five, the interface is divided into pages, so you can enter the next page, or flip back to the previous with the click of a button. How many are supported... seemingly an infinite supply, so even the most die hard ROM organizer can fit their collection into here.

The second menu, second option configures your emulator stuff, from what to use to command line options and other neat stuff.

The last option allows you to fully configure, bend, and tweak the frontend to your desires.

Under the second menu, second option, first suboption, you can see a nice list of consoles you can plug into this: Family Computer (Famicom), Super Famicom, Nintendo 64, PC Engine, Master System, MegaDrive, PlayStation. Under the second suboption is a nice list of handhelds: Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Game Gear, Wonderswan, Neo Geo Pocket, Lynx. Under the third suboption is the only Arcade emulator supported right now is MAME (you can see them talking about MAME in the BBS link posted at beginning of thread). Suboption number four features the Computer option, you can elect from the MSX, X68000/X68K, PC-88, and PC-98. There is in the fifth suboption a total of no less than five slots for user-definable emulators, and the last choice there is the "Others".
