BlackKnight’s PSX on your PSP Tutorial
BlackKnight replied to BlackKnight's topic in PSP and Vita Hacks [/psp]
It copies the PSP format overhead from that PSN game to your ISO. If the relevant data were hacked out of the original PBP, there would be messy issues regarding distribution of reverse-engineered code. This way, if you want to play your ISOs, you just need a freely purchasable file. Avoids a bit of red tape this way. -
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Screenshots

Why would a replay look better than normal? Its all being run with the in-game engine isnt it? Anyway who knows.. in-game is the claim here as far as I know. -
You already got you answer in the following post. The solderless chip is trash. If you are paying for someone else to install it for you, why even consider a solderless chip? The soldered DMS4 SE Pro is the way to go. What more endorsement do you need? As for ConsoleSource, I can't vouch for the place myself, but have heard alright things.

Now I am no big fan of GT, nor am I quick to go 'oh wow, look at those graphics', and I do realise cars as opposed to human characters are rather easy to model. That said, these scenes look photorealistic to me. I am unashamedly impressed. This is all in-game mind you - no prerendered trickery is at work here. Check this eXophase post for a lot more. I am speechless.

Yeh. The other guy has issue with the DMS 4 SE Lite. The DMS4 SE Pro is an extremely good and extremely reliable chip. Take my word for it, or not.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Gameplay Trailer
BlackKnight replied to BlackKnight's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I have 6 games because I do not have an Xbox 360 capable of playing DMC4 or AC4, or a PC capable of playing UT3. Since the choice comes down to buying one system of the above for me, the PS3 has 6 games, the 360 4, and a high-end PC only 2 or 3 or so in the next year. The PS3 is ahead, but not by much. -
I'm looking to buy a laptop sometime in the next few (2-6) months, and would like some general advice from people who know about this kind of thing. I know my fair share about hardware but I've never had a laptop myself and have no idea about the practicality of it. No idea how long battery life I will typically want, how heavy or light I'd want it to be... those are the sorts of things I would like to know about. To sum up how I am as a user, I would want to do a lot of visual stuff. I would be doing a lot of Flash and Photoshop work on the thing and would like to play games. Currently I am surviving on a 6600GT, which can manage most games fine by my liking - Stalker at 1024*768 is playable to me. Obviously I would like something at least that powerful, but understand it might not be practical - I do want a lighter machine, and one with a longish battery life - an 'ultraportable' as far as I know. My sights are set on Dell's M1330 right now, as it seems to be a compromise between the small size and decent performance. I know a GeForce 8400 is what it is, but the system seems to have enough other benefits to offset this weak video card. So can anyone tell me if my assumptions are wrong? Suppose price is not an issue for the moment, would I appreciate the small form of an ultraportable enough, having never owned a laptop before, to sacrifice a higher spec video card? The video is the only part of the package I am not sold on completely right now - you can get C2Ds and 4GB of RAM on this model. Or would I be better getting a chunkier one for a lower price? Would the small screen (13.3") be too small? -- Basically I've rambled on a lot of sh.t up there ^. Can anyone point me in the right direction from here? And I do not want a Macbook Pro, just in case anyone was going to suggest that.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Gameplay Trailer
BlackKnight replied to BlackKnight's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I've got Armored Core 4, Devil May Cry 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Tekken 6, and Time Crisis 4 and Unreal Tournament 3. Still not worth it for me though. Maybe after those games are out and there are new ones on the horizon I'll consider it. -
PSP Custom Firmware 3.52 M33 Released
BlackKnight replied to BlackKnight's topic in Hacking and Homebrew News [/hax]
Yes. I initially had doubts about this CFW since 3.51 M33-1 to M33-4 had some pretty serious (brickable) bugs in them. Currently though I am using 3.51 M33-6 and it is great. No problems at all. It has everthing the OE series had, but also now the Sony np9660 ISO loader which is a No-UMD mode and has virtually 100% compatibility with all games. Only 2 games in total for the PSP didn't work, and one of them was fixed in this latest version! I would say upgrade just for the Sony loader. Even games that worked before fine, or needed 333mhz to avoid cso lag before work better now. It is just amazing. This is all my experience with 3.51 M33-6 mind you, but I'm pretty sure there isn't any huge problem with 3.52. Haven't tried it myself though. -
PSP Custom Firmware 3.52 M33 Released
BlackKnight posted a topic in Hacking and Homebrew News [/hax]
M33 has done it again, this time cracking the newest Sony System Software just days after release, and producing the new PSP Custom Firmware 3.52 M33. As ever, you could BRICK your PSP if you botch the upgrade, so take M33 installation seriously. [Download] Source: eXophase. -
Yeh I get the feeling that's all they are capable of. And damnit I'm sick of it.

If youre gonna send it to someone to mod it for you, get the DMS4 SE Pro. Best modchip for the PS2 there is.

OK! Installing the HD Proggy to a Harddrive and jazz
BlackKnight replied to Wizard's topic in PS2 Emulators [/pc/ps2]
Once you get the exploit installed, you can launch any program in ELF form off your Memory Card. First though, you're going to need SwapMagic, HDL on disc or a mod to install it. Or just get a friend with a modded PS2 to install the exploit to your MC for you. -
OK! Installing the HD Proggy to a Harddrive and jazz
BlackKnight replied to Wizard's topic in PS2 Emulators [/pc/ps2]
First, you need to make an installer cd for the Independence Exploit. Search for the Independence Compiler program. You need to use it, and not dl a pre-made exploit cd, because the exploit will be triggered on bootup by a PS1 game; you need to have that PS1 game's catalogue number in the title.db file on your cd. Once you have made the CD image to install the exploit, you can either swap it with SwapMagic or put the image on HDD and load using an official, pressed version of HDLoader or HDAdvance. Search from a program called WinHiip. Get your IDE drive and connect it (in Master Mode) to your comp. Open WinHiip and it will detect it, tell you it needs to format it, and then do everything else for you. Alternatively if your HDD is in your PS2, you can use the DMS HDD Tool via your exploit to format it, or use HDLoader or HDAdvance (both will prompt a format when they load up). Include a HDLoader .ELF (PS2 Program) as part of the Independence Installer when you are compiling it. However, to install the exploit, you'll either need SwapMagic, a pressed version of HDAdvance / HDLoader, or a modded PS2. I cannot link to any of the sites with the Independence Compiler (all are of questionable legality), but you should be able to find it, usually with a tutorial, on your favourite private tracker. Also you can find most of the programs I mentioned at SKS Apps. I could do up a full guide for getting HDL working with pictures for 1emu if there is enough interest though. -
Metal Gear Solid 4 Gameplay Trailer
BlackKnight replied to BlackKnight's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Personally I reckon Metal Gear Online is a splinter mode stripped from MGS4 proper and turned into its own game so that it can be sold on all the platforms at get around this icky exclusivity business. My guess would be that is where the revenue will be made up- not by an MGS4 port per se, but by this new game cobbled together from MGS4 assets. -

Metal Gear Solid 4 Gameplay Trailer

You mean you're glad its not coming to the 360 right? Because it isn't. -
'Nuff said. Looks great so far. This, along with the Raiden and Volgin incidents, reminds me that there is definitely something queer going on over at the Kojima Productions office.
-
Given the prevalent online modes in both MGS3 and MGSPO, it comes as no surprise that Kojima Productions is finally working on a dedicated Metal Gear Online game. Check the eXophase forum post for more screenshots. Since this seems to be the MGS4 engine / setting all the way, I'm surprised this is going to be a standalone title, and not simply a multiplayer mode for that game. Maybe Konami is looking to recoup some development costs which may not turn over quite so well given MGS4's PS3 exclusivity? Source: eXophase.

Those files are bios files meant to be in the neogeo.zip. As for the missing or different, the sets might be outdated. Either way we can't tell you where to get the proper roms unfortunately. You'll have to find them on your own.
-
You likely have old sets- rom sets change as MAME is updated. You can use ClrMAMEPro or RomCenter to compare your sets with the correct sets for a given emulator.

After the plethora of 3.51-based Custom Firmwares of late, Sony has released the official System Software version 3.52 (read: Firmware 3.52). The only apparent changes are 'security updates' and an incremental compatibility improvement to the PS1 driver. Bear in mind new Sony firmwares are unhackable in the sense that updating to them will disallow use of all homebrew / ISOs / Custom Firmwares. Do not make the mistake of thinking that 3.51 and 3.52 are pathways to Custom Firmwares with those numbers in their names. To install, place this EBOOT.PBP in ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/ and run from the PSP's XMB. [Download].

New Capcom 2d Fighter - Sengoku Basara X
BlackKnight replied to BlackKnight's topic in Gaming and Tech News [/gtech]
The Official Site is now up. It has some details on the theme song, but otherwise doesn't reveal much. The only section that is open is the Characters section; there are 10 'Player Characters' shown and each has an unrevealed 'Engun Character' to go with them. 10 CPU-only bosses? -
Yes, as Robert said if you have a set for NeoRageX, it won't work in MAME, Nebula or Kawaks. Get the MAME set.
