Im torn on that. It made sense to have a Black Mage and a Knight, for instance, but having come straight off FF7 and 8, not being able to distribute Summon Monsters how you like really annoyed me. Having said that, I was never bothered to get enough pummice to learn Ark, or to beat Ozma, so I cant comment on how hard it gets later on. I blitzed through the game and just scraped past Kuja and Necron. And a fighting game you think? Im thinking more Dirge of Cerberus-style action. But either way, a game with Light Warriors, Lenneth and hopefully Squal and Seifer in a ring together? Its got me sold~

Glad to hear that the basics were left pretty much untouched from the first game... my copy has been lost in the post and I am irritated as hell, so wasn't sure how it'd turn out. The music videos sound promising, but then I remember how it sounded like a nice feature for Lumines 2, where, really, they weren't. Speaking of which, this 'Orpheus' edition sounds like it got the works. It's nice that such a breadth of physical content was thrown in. Then again, for the price, there had better have been a lot aye? The 160USD turned me off even when I was feeling loose with the wallet when this was first advertised. Great review overall. Particularly liked how you managed to photo document all the stuff that came in this set. Just one question though- how does Link Disc actually work? Does it just involve swapping out the UMD or are all the tracks in this game's disc, with just a method of checking save data or something?

You nailed it. I'm pretty much agreeing with everything except Ultimate being a waste... if anything I would have said Ultimate makes all the others worthless. Unless you meant solely from a price-standpoint...

It is 'clotheslined' and yeh that got a good laugh out of the cinema where I saw it as well. Actually, some hoons really messed up my viewing. To get a sense of it, when MJ and Harry get close and are about to kiss, a bunch of these yobbos yelled out 'slut!!!', and then later when Peter webs the bomb and throws it back at Harry, they all started screaming 'HAHAHAHA he got smashed. Did you see that? Yeh HAHAHA what a loser'. Morons. Oh and btw Rawrthness, trying to pronounce your name is giving me a headache

New Details If nothing else, I am glad that the FF1-FF9 connections are going to be stronger in this game. I knew that Garland was the same guy! Makes me feel better about kicking his ass in 9 while he is such a b.tch in 1.

The old games are particularly punishing. The FF1 remakes are apparently a lot easier still than the old ones, but I simply cannot beat Chaos, the final boss. I hit for 800-1000 only with my Knight and only when Sabered, Tempered, and Hasted. Magic, including Flare and Holy, does bugger all to him. He has 20000 HP and casts Curaja frequently for 9999 healing. Even if he heals 1 in 10 turns Im still screwed. My Red Mage, Black Mage and White Mage all get killed in 1 hit even when Protect, Invisible and NullAll have been cast on them. I consider this, thusly, impossible.

Never played em Enjoyed 1 though and I don't think it gets more old style than that.

It's probably not great for the long term, but I wouldn't start worrying yet. Usually I don't bother until I see graphical errors. My GF2 MX400 way back ran at about those temperatures 24/7 most of the time and it took a good 3 years before I started seeing snow on the screen.

I bought a small handheld vacuum just for cleaning out the vents. The first time I did it they were clogged shockingly. I've been forced to be opening and closing my case a lot recently though so it hasnt been a problem for a while...

Just using the Forceware temp tool, my 6600GT is usually between 39-49 Celcius. Never much higher. Odd though that my friend, who lives near me, with the same card, saw it go all the way up to the 155 threshold and it blew on him.

Yeh I read that too. Either its just some translation byproduct crap or theyre going for something totally different. Can't wait to find out though.

Double Post! I just went and saw this so here are my comments-

I'm confused. Half the reason the PSP owners here love it is because of all the emulators available for it that bring last generation games to a handheld.

Unfortunately, 3.40 cannot run anything like that. In fact, 3.40 can't do anything except for what's listed on the box. To use 'homebrew' like emulators, as a rule, you need to be running version 1.50 first of all. There are methods for everything up to 3.03 to downgrade to 1.50, but not 3.40. There might be one made available in the future though, so whatever you do do not upgrade to any higher firmwares as they are released. When you read about custom firmwares, like 3.40 OE-A, they are hacked system software that are not from Sony, and must be installed from version 1.50. So sorry, you're out of luck for the moment. As I said, don't upgrade further and you might be able to play some emulators sometime soon. As for a list of emulators, try this Maxconsole thread. Also, please try not to double-post.

To date, Crisis Core has been the only 'original' FF title developed specifically for the PSP. That's about to change with the recently unveiled Dissidia: Final Fantasy. No other information, apart from the name and logo, has been revealed. More is to come apparently at the Square-Enix Party later this month. Personally I am stoked seeing as I love my PSP, hate the DS and all that, but moreso because I'm squarely outside the next-gen race at the moment and like the quaint, small-scope feeling of handheld games these days anyway. The FF1 remake reminded me of that much. And anyway it's a new game- maybe not even an RPG- and maybe in a new continuity too (so far it hasn't been tied to either the FF7 or FF12 worlds). Might just be me, but do those two figures in the logo seem familiar to anyone? Anyway, what does everyone think? Check the Official Site, and add your 2c and theories as to what this game might be about.

Still haven't seen it, but it annoys me that they put out a movie that's been in the making for so long and it still seems rushed. Sam Raimi came by the Opera House last week. I should've jigged uni and gone and set him straight.

Finally got around to flashing 3.40 OE-A. So many new features built up since my last CF that I was amazed.. mostly because of the new higher res videos you can play back. Very nice.

My PSP and everything on its memory stick atm. I'd be set forever. In the spirit of the thread though... I get sick of new games after a couple of hours. Only 5 games on the island? 5 or 50 wouldn't make much difference to me.
