  1. I'm the other way. I have a real copy of SH1's and the limited edition OST that came with SH4, but thats it.
  2. Having a few particulars reduced to nothing, sure, but beyond that I'd let the rest of everyone get on as usual. Vengeance against my own enemies is likely the only edict I'd have as world leader.
  3. Ahh Fatal Fury... it was quite homosexually tinged wasn't it? Reminded me of these in any case; Krauser - I'll sh.t on your gravestone. Sleep well. That's my preferred reading at least. And to think I was going to have a thread about dodgy quotes without; Terry - Are you OK? Buster Wolf!
  4. Another candidate for the most illogical things I've ever heard.
  5. Omg how did I forget that wonderful line? Wasn't the game actually called 'Bad Dudes' though? EDIT: Lol. It was called Bad Dudes vs. DragonNinja. Also from that game... "Rampant ninja related crimes these days... Whitehouse is not the exception...". ROFL
  6. I'd actually love to see that if its handy. I like watching pain. Was after seeing Bloodsport for the first time at 5 or so, and seeing that guy's shin stick out that I realised I wasn't as squeamish as the other kids.
  7. Magnis actually reviewed that here back in 2004. On other news... I haven't got much else on my list of games to play at the moment - is there anything new or obscure that you guys would want to see a pretentiously overwritten review for?
  8. So overlooked, FFVIII is. It had the best of everything. The soundtrack was no different. Glad you prefer it over the others' too. Liberi Fatali is brilliant opener, Find Your Way is just the right mix of mysteriousness and melancholy and Force Your Way remains my favourite boss music to this day. Eyes on Me perfectly captures the sad romantic tone of the game and the epic The Landing has been crying out for an redone version for 8 years now. That battle between the Gardens makes me want to go and replay the game every time I think of it. Could go on and on, but VIII's soundtrack was really Final Fantasy's best, and now that Uematsu has hung up his spurs I can't see it ever being matched. To add some western composers to the list, Frank Klepacki and David Arkenstone did wonders with the late Westwood games, and Harry-Gregson Williams really nailed MGS2's cinematics. Can't forget Cris Velasco either- he wrote that unofficial theme to God of War, Zeus' Wrath Devine. I also like the work of Jack Wall- the J'nanin track from Myst III is something I still listen to even now.
  9. Many of them broke their necks or were paralyzed in the process. The dumbest ones are the backyard wrestling clips. Didn't Steve Austin even suffer some neck injuries during piledrivers? I didn't realise that it was so common until I went researching that move a while back. It's crazy, even considering the obvious difficulty, that professionals can f.ck it up so often.
  10. It depends on how much value you personally attach to the $50 pricetag of a game. I personally think its the biggest rip in gaming history. One because charging for small pieces of content is immoral. Two it detriments the modding relationship people have had with games from way back- effectively putting a dollar value on what used to be free. Finally, if for no other reason, the prices charged are terribly disproportionate to that of the boxed product. Oblivion costs $80 here. That's for all the questing hours, all the assets, all the music- the whole experience. $80. The horse armour costs us something like $10. How the hell does one little addition like that constitute 10% or more of the purchase price??? Expansions are a different story if only because they cost less, but add almost as much new content as the original game, but simply to an old engine. I'm fine with that, but not cool with microtransactions, or the concept of subscription MMOs for that matter either.
  11. My favourite are those extremely painful looking piledriver / tombstone botches.. can't you just feel them?
  12. Addictive. Nice code at work there. Too bad I got caught on those annoying blue pillars the second time they came round. Score: 187.83
  13. I don't know how you guys can trust these private trackers. Do you truly believe only the select few people who are not law enforcement can join these trackers? If you can, they can too! Well if I was doing anything illegal to be caught over, then the law enforcement agencies would be forced to do the same to become members and as far as I know, at least here, that makes almost any information gathered inadmissable. The difference is that sharing material to which they already own copyright to on public trackers is less of an issue in private ones since they can't be members by just sharing one of their own properties to get in.
  14. Private trackers all the way. I used to struggle through DC++ once upon a time, but not anymore.
  15. Apparently not- niggaz talking about how badass their lifestyles are seems never to get old. Judging from how much of the sh.t we get in Australia, I imagine there's 10 times more of the stuff produced in the States, and that is both scary and apaling at the same time. Just some funny lyrics from that genre, which I hate, by the way... Ghetto boots with the pimped out Gucci suit, Ain't got no job but I stay shine. Can't pay my rent, cause all my money spent, but dat's okay cause I'm still fly! Got a quarter tank of gas in my new E-Class, but dat's alright 'cause I'm gon' ride! Got everything in my momma name, but I'm Hood-Rich, da na da na! I wonder if any of those visionaries every thought that in the 21st century being illiterate, unemployed, broke and still leaching off parents would be cool. Somehow doubt it.
  16. That a round about way of saying you think I'm evil? Anyway this topic of people self-assessing how evil they are reminds me of an episode of this British sitcom called The IT Crowd. If anyone has seen it they'll know what I mean.
  17. Reason = Pop music is designed to be palatable to the largest number of people, if not particularly pleasing to the individual. The only reason this wasn't the case in previous times was that the medium of popular music was still finding its roots. Thus, people were more open to enjoying out-there things because the medium itself was a new thrill. Btw, I love electronic music of all varieties.. don't write it off because Madonna is a drugged out useless slut.
  18. I see the coming storm. Just having finished school, and now on the verge of completing an extremely painful 3-year stint at uni, I figure my life will end up that way in not too long, and I think I will perceive it that way as well. I don't have the age to put changing morality into context, but at heart I'm old fashioned and don't like how the world is. Technology is definitely changing the face of socialisation but what affect that has on you is upto you in the sense that you need to actively seek out things and people that will break the monotony and make something worth remembering. You can't blame the diminishing nature of face-to-face interacting on advancing communication technologies altogether- if anything they allow people to connect that would not have been able to before. I do agree that the world is becoming a more unfriendly and scary place, just not because of the technology argument. From my own point of view, I'm tired of living, just because its so unrewarding. At the beginning I had such grandiose plans for my future- I was going to be a filmmaker and make a name for myself the world over. I bet everyone who reads this thinks that that was a stupidly unrealistic thing to hope for... and I agree... but why is that? Either way the choice has led me to a full time office job at an advertising firm next year. I'm not enthused about it at all. I'm only doing it because a job's a job, right? And also I don't need to fight my way through the unknown to make a living out of it either. On the other hand, I'll likely not enjoy it, and will over the years become more and more bitter about it. Over the last years I've had a bunch of changes in my life.. school, finishing school, moving, university, all the free time that goes with it... But after I get into a mechanical job like that I probably won't be able to tell the years apart, 10 years down the track, either. But its not technology's fault- its my own for not having the gaul right now to pursue a more ambitious and uncertain way of life. I accept that. But I'm just as despressed about the proposition as you are. PS. I can barely keep my mind on topic and waffle too much. Bet you can imagine how great that makes my aptitude for the Arts degree I'm taking.
  19. I have no sympathy, or compassion. In general I perceive people to be bastards unless I know otherwise, which cuts me off from the bulk of people out there. I hold grudges and never let go of them. I am not vindictive or malicious normally, but I don't care at all about my enemies in that respect, and go to crazy lengths to get back at people. As for enemies, I have a lot more than other people my age. I don't think any of that makes me evil, although you might disagree. I think it just makes me cold hearted.
  20. Never seen a topic like this here, so why not? Post those nonsensical things you've heard said, whether they're down to shoddy localisations or just plain bad writing altogether. I'll start off, and probably steal some of the best ones Mortal Kombat Annihilation Kitana - Mother, you're alive! Sindel - Too bad you... ...shall die! Rayden - It's the new look! What's the deal with your arms? Jax - Man I known you one minute, and you dissin' me already? Rayden - (Dead pan) I mean no disrespect. Shao Kahn - Did you make them beg for their lives before you destroyed them????!?!?! Rain - (Robot voice) But master, I thought.... Shao Kahn - (Suddenly really pissed off) I have no use for excuses!!!!! Scorpion - Succkckkkkeeeerrrssss!!! Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Richter - Tribute?? You steal men's souls and make them your slaves! Dracula - Perhaps the same could be said of all religions. (Emphasis on 'all') Richter - Your words are as empty as your soul! Mankind ill needs a saviour such as you! Dracula - What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets! Lisa - Pity the humans, for theirs is a hard lot. Dead or Alive 2 Ein - Good vibration! Ayane - I'm not sweet! Bass - Won't have any mercy, even for a woman! Silent Hill Harry - Radio. What's going on with that radio. Kaufmann - Hah. You're easy. Dahlia - It was fortold by gyromancy! (Wtf) Street Fighter: The Movie Bison - Dee Jay, has the A.N. deposited the twenty billion dollars in my Swiss bank? Dee Jay - Hell no, General! Guile - I'm only half dead. Cammy - And Bison? Guile - All dead. Bison - For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. Officer - Colonel, have you lost your mind? Guile - No- you've lost your balls. Bison - All I wanted to do was create the perfect genetic soldier. Not for power. Not for evil. But for good! Carlos Blanka will be the first of many- they shall march out of my laboratory and sweep away every adversary, every creed, every nation, until the very planet is in the loving grip of the pax; Bisonica. Where peace shall reign, and all humanity will bow to me in humble gratitude. Guile - What is that, T.Hawk? T.Hawk - It's cherokee, sign of my tribe. It brings me luck in battle. Guile - Hope you brought enough for the both of us. Zangief - Quick, change the channel! Guile - Are you man enough to fight with me? Bison - All who oppose me will be destroyed! Final Fantasy VII Cloud - Let's mosey! Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 Romanov - We Romanovs have our legacy to consider. Dugan - I don't give a wooden nickel about your legacy! Romanov - They have turtle in children's film- it teaches them to fear Soviet Union. Little turtle sees big Russian missiles coming. And he ducks. And covers. Duck, cover, hahahahahaha. Carville - You look deader than a Texas armadillo. Romanov - He is war hero, he needs his rest. Romanov - (Totally fake) No, General Vladimir!! ...and of course the classics; Ryu - You must beat Sheng Long to stand a chance. (Most ambiguous line ever) and Shang Tsung - Your soul is mine! (Coolest line ever) Anyway that's all I can think of at the moment. What have you guys got?
  21. I don't know how you managed that. I used to be a staunch Sega (of all things) supporter because I'd been raised on those systems and hated having to bend to Sony. But I don't regret it- the PS2 is so cheap and has so much for it I cannot imagine how anyone with even a slight inkling towards games can pass it up. Especially considering how cheap its been for the last few years. And yeh that Mortal Kombat thing is inspiring me to create another thread.
  22. Final Fantasy VIII is my favourite. Then comes... Red Alert 2.. amazing. Just amazing. Hell March 2 is one of the best compositions I've ever heard. Quake 2 - good times all round. Silent Hill 1-4 - all good. Can't fault any of them. I'm always stealing effects from them for my multimedia projects. Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2 - the remixed theme in 2 murders everything else. Dead or Alive 1 -hektik stuff back then.
  23. You can't leave us hanging now mate. Come on, we're all friends here
  24. I never grew up playing on arcade machines, per se, but had always been a fighting game fan. Anyway, my most embarrassing moment was when I started high school in 1999 and had been saying that yeh I'd take my friends on in Xmen Vs Street Fighter. Of course I meant on the PS or whatever. So yeh we came across a machine up in Lalor Park... middle of nowhere... of XvSF. And I was so uncoordinated using the stick that I could barely get off Cyclops' free HP eye blast. Needless to say I got raped the sh.t out of by my friends. I never lived that one down. Criminally embarrassing it was.
  25. So anyway does anyone play this online? If so, what are your EA usernames? I actually haven't been able to play, since launch, because of the obscene number of vague and contradictory instructions given for configuring NAT, firewalls and that jazz... not to mention claiming over 50,000 UDP ports need to be 'opened' to get the game to work. Anyway it's been a royal pain, but now I just shut things off instead of bothering with all the crap involved (and have my IP in the DMZ) when playing. So yeh, I only have maybe 4 games under my belt, but it'd be good if someone else around here wanted to join in the fun I would close by saying Kane lives, except I play as GDI.
