Dark_AleX's 3.03 OE-A Released
BlackKnight replied to Mooney's topic in Hacking and Homebrew News [/hax]
It needs to be installed from 1.5 or a custom firmware. Uptil now only 2.80 and lower can be downgraded to 1.50 :/ -
Can anyone get 'Wonder Boy in Monster World' for the Mega Drive / Genesis to work on their PSP? Ive tried DGen and PSPGenesis. Does anyone know any settings for these, or any other emu that will work? EDIT: Actually lets change this to a general SRAM question- Sonic 3 works... its just a tad buggy. But every other game I try on the PSP, regardless of the emulator, that requires SRAM saving, doesnt work. To elaborate on the original problem, Wonder Boy works, but when you press 'start' at the title screen it freezes, where normally it should go to options 'Continue' or 'New Game'.

Think it's a good time to buy a white psp?
BlackKnight replied to Lucandrake's topic in PSP and Vita Hacks [/psp]
Well what are you going to do with it? Pretty soon all retail PSPs will come with the TA-086 motherboard and 3.01 stock, and so cant be downgraded or exploited yet. If youre counting on homebrew, dont. But what do you mean youre screens half busted? If its unusable then yeah sure get another, but if its just a cosmetic fix then I dunno why youd want to blow money on a whole new unit. -
Karous - New Official Dreamcast Game Announced
BlackKnight replied to JKKDARK's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
He didnt say this was the first new official DC game released in the last 5 years. -
Well now with a January 9th release (assuming it does get released then), Metal Slug Anthology has suffered 9 delays. No joke. However, Ive been reading reviews and reactions to the recently released Wii version... and it was quite interesting. The Wii version of Metal Slug Anthology blows. Firstly the controls; not being able to use the Classic Controller; not being able to use the Gamcube Controller's D-pad; and not being able to map grenades to any button. It sucks, but there is more that is less unique to the Wii. There are numerous emulation problems that have been discussed on the Gamespot and IGN boards- Hitflashes (MS1,MS3,MS6)- Some enemies flash sometimes, othertimes they dont. In the arcade originals, bosses and enemies obvious flash each time they are hit. In MS6 apparently hardly anything flashes at all. Sound Distortion (MS6)- Metal Slug 6 suffers from missing sound effects and sound affects that are apparently lower quality than the arcade and original Jap PS2 port. Trigger Bugs (All)- All games seem to suffer from screen clearing trigger problems... ie. you kill everything on the screen but dont get that 'GO >' logo and progress further. Coin Troubles (All)- If you limit the number of credits you have, you cannot save you record without starting a new game to avoid 'insert[ing] coin'. Incidentally if you start a new game the records are lost. These bugs, as well as the poor reviews the game has recieved for its controls AND lack of supporting content despite its '10th anniversary' subtitle, I hope, have reached Ignition or SNK (whoever is actually publishing this) and have caused them to put back the releases of the PSP and possibly the PS2 versions in order to fix the problems. If we do end up getting better ports than the Wii then I will take back all the delay-slandering Ive posted here and elsewhere. So the delay could be a good thing. Other threads have talked about bug fixing and slowdown but I havent seen a list of problems yet. Anyone have anything else to add?

Ive been around the PSP scene for a while now, and it just amazes me that the things Dark_AleX does have for so long, until now, been considered totally impossible. Launching from the XMB in anything other than 1.5? Impossible. Downgrading without complete file dumps? Impossible. Making Device Hook obsolete? Impossible. Cracking 3.0 and its PSX emulation? Not impossible but a long way off. He did it in a matter of days after 3.02's release. and now the big impossibility.. downgrading TA-082 units. Just bloody amazing. Its fair to say he has done more than any other dev in the scene, and is in starck contrast to certain others *wh0I w0nt name* who just talk about hacking methods coz they live in China next to a hardware downgrading slum but never release anything worthwhile.

As per 028's suggestion, lets get up a list of games for everyone to blow a few hours on all over again with Dark_AleX's new firmware. Please don't mention Final Fantasy VII,VIII or IX or Metal Gear (whoops already did) because everyone knows those~ Anyway without further rambling, my list is... ---------- Action ---------- Armored Core Assault Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Dragon Valor Forsaken Gran Turismo Gran Turismo 2 Guilty Gear Oddworld: Abe's Oddysey Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus Klonoa: Door to Phantomile S.C.A.R.S. Tekken 3 Tenchu: Stealth Assassins ---------- RPG ---------- Azure Dreams Chrono Trigger Chrono Cross Jade Cocoon Silent Hill Vagrant Story Valkyrie Profile Xenogears I'll update this first post with other people's suggestions if anyone's interested.

Damn, I had been hearing they were unrelated. Ah well I picked up the PSX port of Chrono Trigger aswell just in case. Any excuse to use this new emu lol. -
Dark AleX's 3.02 OE-B Custom Firmware

Fair enough. I never played Chrono Cross back in the day on accounta' it never getting a PAL release. Reckon it would be worth going through now? -
Dark AleX's 3.02 OE-B Custom Firmware
BlackKnight replied to BlackKnight's topic in PSP and Vita Hacks [/psp]
Play Castlevania again. Thats what Im doing~ We wont get another system emud like this on the PSP though- only Sony has the resources to develop something this efficient and even then only because its their own system. Then again, Id love to be wrong on this one. -
New custom firmware due out today does the impossible for the PSP... ...fullspeed PSX emulation. Turns out those Network Title Eboots were just emulator code and original ISOs archived together. With the DRM already cracked in OE-A, Sony is royally screwed for this one. DAX plans to release it today so anyone who wants to take SOTN or whatever other PSX classic out with them should be set to get their biggest thrill this Christmas (I didnt get anything btw :/)- Im totally stoked. Hopefully Mooney will get round to posting this in the Site News and Updates forum when this gets released, but just thought people would like to know now- Im so excited I cant really help myself. EDIT: Released. Maxconsole thread and Link (Members Only).

Absolutely nothing.

I agree... its a real shame how bad the new Sonic turned out. I love Sonic so much.. it pains me deeply. Oh also I will be posting a review for the PSP version of the Metal Slug Anthology as soon as it gets released. It has so far suffered 5 delays so cant say for sure when that is.

PSP:3.0 OE-A Release Rumored
BlackKnight replied to Mooney's topic in Hacking and Homebrew News [/hax]
It sure is. You do it the same way you got to SE-B from 1.50 or whatever. Grab the 1.50 and 3.02 eboot updates from Sony, use the UpdateMaker, then use the created DATA.DXAR with the OE-AFlasher, both of which come in the OE-A download. Step by step instructions are included in the readme... DAX just makes it so easy for us. Reasons why you should upgrade are... -ALL 3.02 firmware features (including PS1 games via a PS3 if you have them, as well as visualisations, new network connection settings and all that remote play stuff) -Kernal Region Selector (so you can make yourself a Jap version PSP, for example, which is the only version that has the 'PSPTV' option) -UMD movies are region free -PS1 games are region free -PS1 games DRM is hacked, which means no limit to how many PSPs you copy to Also, the UMD emulation from the Game > Memory Stick menu has a much higher compatibility than 2.71SE. Guilty Gear Slash in the Jap version of Judgement works now, where it doesnt on SE-B. Conversely, No-UMD emulation compatibility is lesser now :/ But who cares about that? -
2.80 has extremely limted compatibility with homebrew. No ISOs for one. Secondly eLoader is great, but wont play many of youre favourite homebrews that well at all. Im particularly partial to the Mega Drive, and with eLoader the premier MD emu, DGen, doesnt work at all. Also SNES emulation is so slow its unplayable. It is extremely misguiding to put 2.80 in the same boat as the others. Id say the only ones that are truly homebrew capable at 2.71 and lower for now. That said, a kernal exploit and flash writing exploit are both available for 2.80, so I wouldnt be surprised if a downgrader were released for it soon.

PSP:3.0 OE-A Release Rumored
BlackKnight replied to Mooney's topic in Hacking and Homebrew News [/hax]
Indeed another great day for the PSP. The Maxconsole thread is confusing though... is Dark AleX actually behind this? I would only trust an alpha version if it turns out to be his work. EDIT: Released LinkyLinky And YES is it by DAX himself so for people like me who care, rest easy. Im going off to try it now. -
Are you sure its an emulation/ homebrew capable PSP? Anyway games you must have... ----- Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (duh) Games I have... ----- Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower Street Fighter Alpha3 Max Tekken: Dark Resurrection Guilty Gear Judgment (Japanese Version's better - Has GGXX Slash) Bomberman PSP Lemmings Medievil Resurrection Mega Man Powered Up Metal Gear Ac!d 2 Puyo Pop Fever Sonic Rivals Wipeout Pure Yu-Gi-Oh! Ta-82 1.5 firmware downgrader released!
BlackKnight replied to floopy's topic in PSP and Vita Hacks [/psp]
It works in that it does what it states. However, it is fake in that a lot of what happens while 'downgrading' is bs, and resultantly you dont have a proper downgrade at the end. Either way if I had a TA-082, I sure as hell would stick with HEN-D or just wait this one out. -
Cant find the words... ..arent go karts faster than those?

Yah... KofXI in January and SS6 in March. Bless them. Lets hope they dont find XII's core duo power too much hassle when the time comes. -
The Official Samurai Shodown V Special Thread!
BlackKnight replied to James's topic in Arcade Emulators [/pc/arcade]
Ive just checked the Ignition site and noticed that as well. Its strange because the spine on the Australian cover I saw was labelled with a '5' not a 'V'. Either way is the Ignition one SSV normal or SSV Special? -
The Official Samurai Shodown V Special Thread!
BlackKnight replied to James's topic in Arcade Emulators [/pc/arcade]
Sorry to go semi offtopic here but does anyone know if the game released in Europe by Ignition called 'Samurai Shodown 5' is actually Samurai Shodown V or Samurai Shodown V Special?
