  1. That blows since I have no knowledge or experience with soldering.. Id have no idea how to go about it. Are there any easier ways to get around this?
  2. The stick itself has been discussed to death. Iv had one for a year or so now but am noticing this problem moreso than before... Has anyone who has one of these ever noticed that intermittently it just shuts off? Doesnt register any more inputs? Sometimes its like you just pulled out the controller- nothing happens. Othertimes its as though it got stuck on an input- a character will keep walking continually right for example. In these situations the only thing I can do to fix it is to unplug it, then plug it back in and it usually works. This problem seems to occur very randomly. Sometimes it works fine for hours at a time, and at others it happens with less than a minute in between. Iv tried working out if it happens when I move the stick or when I jam a bunch of buttons at once but so far I havnt got anything. If anyone has experienced this or knows about it please let me know. I have the sick feeling maybe mines just stuffed or maybe my PS2s controller port has had it. But I do remember ages ago when I bought it the one on display was working one day, unresponsive the next.. maybe the same thing. It might have just been unplugged though so cant say. Any help is appreciated- I dont want to retire the stick over this
  3. Yeh you can. Some apps only let you map the stick axes and not the hatswitch (dpad). In the XBCD options you can remap things like the dpad with the stick X and Y axes so that it works. Its annoying though... MAME lets you map things directly to the hatswitch but Kawaks doesnt. Same with console emus- Gens wont let you map the hatswitch but Gens32 and Fusion will. So yeh what I was asking before is if theres some little tray app that lets you toggle the hatswitch and the stick axes. I have one like that for my old Nostromo n45 controller. You just right click it and select 'swap dpad and analogue stick'. But it only works for that controller... I was wondering if there was something more universal out there.
  4. Yeh nice move. Btw, for when youre using stuff that doesnt map controller inputs well, is there a general program that can toggle swapping a hatswitch with an analogue stick?
  5. People are going for the rumblepad but Ill step in and endorse something else.. if it makes a difference... XBOX 360 controller for Windows It is amazing. Feels solid and stylish.. very responsive.. Only problem is those driver issues that you always hear about but honestly they dont matter. XBCD drivers solve everything and are easy to find (if not I can just PM you them). Also you can pick up the one for Windows or the normal USB wired one for the 360 and itll work aswell. I cant say enough good things about it... I love it. Ive never used a Rumblepad so I cant say if its better or worse, but Id have a hard time believing you can top this controller by a huge margin. EDIT: Of course if youve used the 360 controller before then youll already know whether you like it or not... :/
  6. At first I had hoped this was an abridged YuGiOh joke but either way yeh, bloody yanks.
  7. Here's a direct link. I however am cautious about this... who the hell is 'Dr. Download' anyway? No ISOs either so no reason to even try trusting the French on this one. If you want to, though, there's the link.
  8. Its not the same, but itll do. General rule, burn in DAO mode in DiscJuggler or Alcohol or even Nero and your CDI images should burn correctly.
  9. Cool... but anyone know whats going on with NullDC?
  10. That video owns. Suitably takes the piss outof something so Pc ridiculous it sickens me. Haha that clip shoulda been his official response. As if those niggas are really cut about this... taking him to court. BS.
  11. Just to clarify my DC is a HKT-3010 and can play CDR backed up games. Selfboot games work, and bin/cue games work with a boot disc. My problem is that when I try to make things selfboot, or use homebrew, the thing doesnt boot. Instead, they go straight to the music menu. I've tried- -Emulators like GenesisPlus with SB Inducer -Premade CDI emulator/rom discs that specifically claim to be SelfBootable -Old bin/cue releases converted to CDI with bin2boot None of these work. Interestingly the games Ive tried to convert to SB, no longer work with the boot disc either. So I want to know if this is a problem with my model Dreamcast? Or with my computer setup? I use Alcohol to burn CDI images btw. Dunno if this is relevant or not but I tried a the Echelon self-boot tutorial as well as bin2boot, but got an error when using cdrecord. Im meant to use cdrecord -scanbus to get a 'x,x,x' 3 digit SCSI bus code but I get an error there and it returns nothing. Maybe its something to do with my drive setup, but either way pre-made rom discs dont work either. Any help here would be infinately appreciated. Iv coastered enough discs for today :/
  12. Ahk cheers the place I go to actually stocks Ritek for dirt cheap prices so I might as well go with them.
  13. Just so you know, 3.0 doesnt use the flash0 and flash1 FAT file systems for flash organisation anymore- it uses instead a new raw system. Which means writing to flash in 3.0 and above will have to be worked on from scratch. Which sucks.
  14. Umm. crap. A few weeks ago my ISP sent an email suggesting that they now have the right under new federal authority to convey my usage details to authorities without regard to privacy terms of service etc etc. I thought it was just a scare tactic. I'll PM anyone who wants to read it. this Gestapo crap pisses me off. Anyway, W.t.f.
  15. I just got my hands on a Dreamcast so Im looking to keep it working for as long as possible. Anyway, when burning backups, whats the best type of disc to be using? I ask because I know the better brands are TDK, Memorex etc. but I want to know which will strain the DC drive the least to read. I usually use TDK golds, but some old players I have struggle with them more than other cheaper disks. I dont want this kind of thing to run down my DC, so yeh can anyone offer an opinion on the subject?
  16. Which is why I think it is bs that they can get up in arms when a white guy uses it. That's what pisses me off.
  17. Yeh that was in surprisingly poor taste to go off directly at audience members like that. But beyond that, what honestly is the big deal in using the "n-word" ? I dont live in the states so I dunno how it goes down there but it seems common usage here in Australia.. and we dont even have any niggaz damnit. And why is there that double standard? Black performers of all kinds... singers, comedians... spew out nigger as part of their acts. I realise Richards was using it in the pejorative sense, but why is it more offensive than calling someone a motherflocker?
  18. I'm quoting that. Even better than the feminists and the lightbulb one.
  19. Sorry to revive this old thread but I figured there are enough DC++ ones around as it is. I just wanted to ask where do you find good hubs? Ive looked over the EmuNetwork ones and half no longer connect- hublist.org etc dont really list enough for specific things... Overall I cant find what Im looking for. Its just really frustrating. Please can anyone PM some good hubs for Dreamcast backups? Or point me in the right direction? Thanks.
  20. Then again, as an Australian, I find everything Mr. Beazley says opposes government policy simply for the sake of doing so. So screw him.
  21. Then, looking around congress, yells 'Aiiyo where my niggaz at?'. Priceless that would be.
  22. ...what? But yeh 'sif I don't own the originals.
  23. I like the cut of Jitway's gibs. flock Saddam. There's so much sympathy in this thread.. its mind boggling.
  24. Thats funny, since I didnt mention the letters S, N or K anywhere. Odd. Oh and did I forget to mention that the PS3 is an open platform? 1.10 supports homebrew so... hmm... that makes the choice even more difficult...
