  1. But even if it is better on the PC the novelty is in having the entire Mega Drive library, say, with you on a portable device. Isnt that worth the trade off?
  2. I think it still isnt ready for 3D. The style of games like MK2 is raped in 3d, even now. Also I cant help but get the feeling the MK team are really crappy 3d modellers and motion capturers... the disparity between the quality of image and movement in Mk and games like Tekken or hell even non-fighting games isnt only noticable... its apalling.
  3. Truth. I would say the same about the TV.. but.. well.. with those damned ads you have to make a conscious effort to keep track of whats going on in long movies... hell its unbearable.
  4. Im the opposite- Ive been a big Silent Hill fan since the beginning but my enthusiasm for it has been waning recently... SH4 and the film didnt do much to renew my affections for the series. Ill get Origins but Im not sure the PSP is a great vehicle for an atmospheric horror game. Oh well.. whats the alternative? Buy a PS3? Psshh.
  5. I hardly watch TV either. I keep up with shows like Prison Break and Nip Tuck via the net but as for the actual TV set... Id agree on the reason though. Theres nothing good on. Or at least nothing that would compell me to sit down and watch it. Ads dont help either- how can you become ingrossed in something when youre so frequently pulled out of it to be flashed cheesy commercials? Its gay.
  6. Logical progression- DS2 = air = nothing = worthless So, inconclusion, buy a PSP, not a DS. Or a DS2. Time and again I wonder how a handheld that can play a very decent percentage of all the games ever made consistently finds itself second place after the gimmicky and derivative DS.
  7. Down, Down-Forward, Forward + Punch duh. But I think the Shoryuken motion is more popular then the Hadoken motion. Down, Forward + Punch is throwing Kabal's fireball MK series is primairly a fighter, there for it is comparable to any game within it's genre. MK is tapping while most other fighters use depressing in certain motions. SF1 was never released on any console, it was arcade only as far as I know. Way back in 1989 I think was. Saying MK doesnt compare to Street Fighter is a figure of speech. You know, those things which the language is built on? Duh. Anyway, wrong SF1 did get 1 home port- it was for the Turbografx / PC-Engine and was erroneously titled 'Fighting Street' as well as 'Fighter Street' depending on the edition. Otherwise the same and a pretty good port. The only difference between it and the arcade version is that you cannot choose which of the 4 countries to go to first. The Japanese arcade version of SF1 is like that aswell, I hear, but Ive never played it.
  8. The main problem with playing any MK, especially MK Trilogy, is that the AI is not only extremely fast and cheap, but it also cheats. I couldnt ever stand being *thrown* out of my sweeps, or being countered perfectly no matter what attacks I threw out.
  9. Oh no doubt. But if I wanted to hear the same things from each of them Id have posted this at MK5.org. Do you happen to love every MK game?
  10. Flawless Victory! I said 'the rise and fall.' MK Armaggedon is out today in the US of A (I hear) and will be out on my shores in just shy of 2 weeks. So, who else here is a big Mortal Kombat 2 fan but doesnt really care about the rest? I was more than a fan you see.. I was an avid MK nut back in the day. I used to have Goro as my avvie before I realised Sachiel looked so cool. MK2 was the first fighting game I played. Ever. It had class that game. It had a great art direction and a rich mythology. The core gameplay was tight, but broken at the same time, not that I cared. It blew SF2 out of the water. Ill stand by that to my last breath. MK3 came and went.. some attest that UMK3 was the best balanced and most suitable for competition- I liked them all coz they were MK, but 2 was my favourite. Actually, I thought MKM Sub-Zero was a decent platformer, and MK4, while grating on the senses, could pass for a fighting game. I still thought it was lacking as a franchise without Shang Tsung or Shao Kahn but whatever. --- Anyway here is the bulk of my rant. Deadly Alliance came along some years ago. I was stoked to see a decent 3D MK. It also had Sub-Zero and Scorpion in variations of their classic costumes, and Liu Kang was dead. Bliss? The new gen of MK started off missing a few core things, and with Deception and now Armageddon, instead of fixing them, they added more chaff to the formula to the extent where I believe Armaggedon, when I get it, will be utterly unbearable to play. Each is, after all, basically an expansion on the previous title with all the engine quirks and gameplay problems carried over. Lets chart the MK descent into shame shall we? MK Deadly Alliance +MK in 3D! -Clunky fighting system. -Weak and generic special moves. -Dodgy motion capturing. -Cheap CGI (if its gonna look nasty dont use it ffs) -No big bad final boss? Shinnok all over again? -No stage fatalities despite there being concepts for the Acid Bath? -No standard uppercut? MK Deception +Uppercut! +Dragon King boss! +Half decent mini games. -No positive additions to the core game engine. -Combo breaker? Game breaker more like. Damnit I hate those. -Noob-Smoke? That desperate to get the other guy out of the series, aye Boonie? -TERRIBLE new character designs. -Inordinate amount of content left in the game but not unlockable. -Storyline that will humble even the cheesiest of fantasy writers. But now the big deal- MK Armageddon. Check the supposed pros vs cons on this mother- MK Armageddon +Every character. Ever. Khameleon wasnt made by the MK team so who cares? -Air combos? You serious? -2 fighting styles with similar derivative moves? -Twice as many useless fireball projectiles. -Recycling models, sounds, art and every other kind of asset but not being bothered to bring along the MKDA and MKD stages. -Bosses dont have boss like priority / movelists. -Kintaro is now a cat? Not just a dragon with stripes?? -Storyline that seems even more off the wall... If I wanted the MK universe to come to an end I wouldnt want some pallete-swapped jax with a flame sprite to be the being behind it all. ...and here are the big disappointments.... -NO UNIQUE FATALITIES. NO TOASTY. NO DEEP FREEZE. -MOTARO HAS ***2*** LEGS. --- Ok now that was a long and unstructured rant. Why cry about all this now you ask? Well Ive been following the course of MKA development since ints announcement- but these things have only come to light in recent months. Id like to know who, since MKA is out today (or tomorrow? Im not good with times), is a long time MK fan and, having played the game, how they feel? Iv voiced my myriad disappointments but I havnt played it yet.. so I dont really have any authority on the matter yet. So yeh agree, tell of MK fandom or whatever. If youre gonna let rip though, do it in a big way. Coz right now Im struggling to control the sheer disappointed rage I feel towards Ed Boon and his ilk. Some things, like no real fatalities and Motaro being sans 2 legs are just unforgivable. How dare such a mainstay of my childhood be desecrated so??? Ah well thats my piece.
  11. On closer inspection... The menus dont have any discernable debug tools... the detected WiFi settings doesnt look like it can be resized to accomodate more than one such setting... as retroK said there is no button to save changes... graphics seem to sport perfect video emulation which is unlikely... firmware would seem more logical to be sorted by version than by the contents of each flash rom... backup registry? PSP has a registry?... and finally a video capture option in 3 different formats? Surely you jest.
  12. Yeh- they dont want to cut the price on the current PSP.. no way they can move onto the next generation so quickly. Unless theyre morons.
  13. Indeed. The Sony giant is really haemorrhaging money what with all the costly PS3 development and flagging PSP sales- it needs the PS3 launch to be successful so open the flow of cash back in. Else it could be in some serious trouble.. considering how much has been spent already.
  14. I somehow doubt this is real.. the constant 30fps doesnt seem likely. Especially for a first release emulator for a new system like the PSP.
  15. Im currently looking forward to MGS Portable Ops aswell.. the latest trailer really sold me on that. I feel compelled to pick up the new Silent Hill whenever its released and also Metal Slug Anthology- it has Metal Slug 6 in it and Ive never had a chance to play that. Also... umm... damn there arent too many good PSP games on the horizon are there? Anyway if those games are 2.8+ itl break my heart for now. MGS is almost certainly, but that Metal Slug collection might slip in at 2.71... heres hoping anyway.
  16. I havnt seen the season 3 premiere yet and Iv glazed over most of your comments but what iq132 said about them just complicating the plot endlessly is too true. Instead of making it seem as though there was a structure to the show, or that the writers actually had it all figured out, Lost's producers give the impression that theyre making it up as they go along. Which, considering the kind of show it is, cheapens it a great deal. Thats why I dont like Lost- it has a million bizarre things introduced but doesnt go to any length to explain them. Ill fall off my chair if they ever wrap up this show with no loose ends. Too bad itl likely get axed just when they open up the mystical portal to the other dimension where the demonlord is orchestrating all the events on the island as part of some futuristic game show... Ridiculous? Yeh well I wouldnt be surprised if thats how season 5 ends at the rate theyre going now.
  17. Sonic 1 and CD had a really different feel to them... hahaha I actually like the games developed by Sega Technical Institute more than the ones by Sonic Team themselves.
  18. Really? I can't stand those. I love Sonic 2, 3 and Knuckles for the Mega Drive... no other Sonic game lives up to that as far as I'm concerned- most of the 3D ones aren't even fun to play.
  19. Well, well, well what a pansy. Dark_AleX, who is behind the Homebrew Enabler got totally dissed on PS2nfo and impersonated by a bunch of guys, and that didn't dissuade him. Seems like there were more than a few that didn't trust our friend 0okm, so guess he decided to bail now before he got in any deep sh!t.
  20. So what was up with this downtime? Just some moron hacker?
  21. Just curious. What games do you all have and /or like to play on the go? Also, what are your thoughts on the cost of PSP games etc. at the moment. Personally I think all the ports are too expensive, all though at retail here in Australia prices are dropping. Tekken DR, for example, was only just released and is for sale for $62AUD while most new games are or have been $89.99AUD, with XBOX 360 games going for $100+. Also I'd be interested to know what regions your games are... I've never modded a console before so importing new games is a new thing for me. Anyway, my games in the order in which I got them are... Medievil Resurrection (AUS) [R4] - Free with Value Pack Street Fighter Alpha3 MAX (AUS) [R4] - First game bought... must have kinda thing (plus was only $45 @ KMart here... someone flocked up) Lumines (US) [R1] - Obligatory puzzle game.. was on sale for $15AUD (absolutely nothing)... also the US version at retail Metal Gear Acid 2 (EU) [R2] - Got hooked on the hype for it... decent enough but not great- UK version retails in AUS Tekken Dark Resurrection (AS-EN) [R3] - Another must have... Asian English version import.. also because the release was some months before the domestic one Darkstalkers Chronicle (AUS) [R4] - On sale... nostalgia sake purchase Wipeout Pure (US) [R1] - eBayed for 99c + $2 shipping... pretty polished.. didnt notice any of the supposed frame rate issues Puyo Pop Fever (AUS) [R4] - Gift... I have a thing for Puyo Pop Marvel Nemesis (AUS) [R4] - Gift... Utter sh!t Guilty Gear Judgment (JP) [R2] - Mainly for Slash.. unsure as to whether it was worth importing.. but still was cheaper than the one with #Reload is here at retail So yah I just realised I have a lot of games but I really only payed full price for MGA2, Wipeout was less than my train ticket to uni and a lot of the imports came a lot cheaper than they would have been to buy off the shelf. Either way recent events have made me unsure if I'll actually be buying another PSP game... so this seemed like a good time to list them all down. Anyone else want to share theirs?
  22. No worries Mooney. Its good to know there are people on here that still care about the PSP when these things happen. Btw, you said PSP SMS doesnt work- try MMSPlus. Its a Master System Emulator that works fine with the eLoader. In other news, I dont trust 0okm. He's demanding an awful lot for a downgrader. If he really needed the PSPs serial number he could ahve just released one where you have to enter it yourself. Even if I had a TA-082 I wouldnt trust him with that much.
