  1. Everyone here knows my stance on this issue and everyone else's as well. This thread has turned to insults. Someone please close it until a staff decision has been made on the matter. -Syn - and AxL stop the personal attacks please or else formal warnings will follow.
  2. Someone said legitimate P2P? .. ?
  3. American Gangster... too many things wrong with this movie to bother listing.
  4. LOLOLOLOLOL They fixed the dates, but didn't thank me! How rude!
  5. We take the same stance on warez / roms etc. here at 1Emulation as we do on warehousing. Just because sh!t happens out there is no reason to bow down and change our policy and do the wrong thing.
  6. It is a custom chip by nVIDIA, roughly comparable to the GeForce 3 Ti cards. Kinda funny they went to ATi for their 360 chip.
  7. I just used stronger to describe how long it lasts before dying. For DVDs use those Taito Yuden or whatever Jap discs if you can find them. For CDs you can use any branded media- just don't use anything like TDK Golds.. they strain a laser more when reading.
  8. The Xbox definitely has a stronger laser than the PS2. The PS2's laser is so cheap that its even worse than the Dreamcast's as far as I can tell. And the Slimline has a faster read drive in it, but it wears out a lot faster than the fat used to (if that is even possible).
  9. And despite how much people biatch about it, NGE's dub is perfect. No one is going to better sound the part than the English Gendo Ikari no matter what language they speak.
  10. Dark_AleX / Team M33 has released the much anticipated new CFW 3.80 M33. This not only allows homebrew to use the new 3.80 kernel, but also to run games that require the new version. The interesting thing about this new CFW is that it updates purely with a Sony update EBOOT. In effect, any risk of bricking should be eliminated since you are not at any time compiling your own update. This is very good news for PSP users who may not want the hassle of creating a Pandora Battery in case of a brick. You need to be running 3.52 M33-2 to install. As ever there is a minor risk of BRICKING YOUR PSP, but the chances of that are reduced greatly by the lack of any opportunity to really stuff things up. The same rules apply as when installing any Sony update: keep your battery charged and the AC adapter plugged in. Team M33 has also released the first patch for this firmware- 3.80 M33-2; This update obviously requires 3.80 M33 installed to run. The final feature of the new M33 CFW versions is that by default, the XMB's 'Network Update' feature now directs to Dark_AleX's website. Cumulative updates can, in theory, be applied via this method, eliminating almost all of the risk and hassle in keeping up with CFW developments. Congratulations again to 'Team M33' for continuing to make the best Custom Firmware in the PSP scene even more capable and easier to use. 11. This is potentially very useful given the number of problems people have with this emulator. Pinned.
  12. Wrong. Your full name, a C in brackets and the year is all that is needed to establish formal copyright over anything. Thus, if my name were really Black Knight, writing this... © Black Knight 2008 ...would copyright my expression of ideas in this post. Just to be accorded the respect enough to be requested permission to host their work. Nothing more than that. They deserve that much and its not a big ask. Yet somehow warehousing sites decide they 'cannot be flocked'. Apparently when authors' sites go down they mustn't answer their emails either. Well, the MUGEN community's whole problem is people deciding to not release stuff and disappearing...
  13. Well I've been using my M3 Real for a week or so now. Not much to say except that it has 100% compatibility with NDS roms, homebrew and GBA roms as far as I can tell. Features that might not be apparent from the official site include; -GBA Slot-2 Card doubles as a RAM / Browser Pak -You can boot roms directly from the GBA menu list- no emulator required for NES, SMS, PCE, GB, SGB, GBC, GG roms. -In-built cheat database, RTS and reset options.
  14. Personally I love the Shoryuken. Conceptually at least. Its fast, it has high priority, invincibility and can shut down so many different enemy movements. As long as you don't spam it out, its a great move.
  15. You posted half and hour ago.. ? Btw I'm not trying to make any of this sound personal (although I realise it does). I just think the practice really cheats the authors out of their dues. In defending that you're trying to downplay the value of the author's work, which I don't think is cool. EDIT: Added to the other post- you don't need to register in order to establish copyright. However, you said '"Creating" is an overstatement' with regard to MUGEN works, which is an equally pejorative way of looking at it as saying it is not art and not worth protecting. And what's wrong with GameFAQs?
  16. Let's work backwards... I think you lost the point of what you were trying to say halfway through that. Is your argument that by devaluing the effort put into making these things that somehow less rights are entitled to their authors? Or that its cool to not care what that author thinks because 'they don't care enough about it'? As I said earlier- you don't need to register anything with a copyright office unless you specifically intend to draw financial revenue from the product, or expect contestation of copyright to be an issue. Copyright is established the moment of expression, ie. when the thing is made and released in the first place. Why should authors of MUGEN assets bother investing the time and expense registering when the copyright is theirs from the beginning? From a legal standpoint, it is a derivative work and is yours. The fact that unlicensed properties were involved in its creation only affect financial gain from the product- not its ownership. Nobody except self-righteous pigheads claim to make 'art'. Your inference is that if its not art, its not valuable enough to be bound by its authors wishes, correct? That's the selfish, illogical point you're making. You're missing the point of warehousing as well. Fair enough that the Beatles may not have wanted that for their music. It is still up to them though- they have the right to sell it, give it away for free, license it out or do whatever the hell they want with it. Warehousing categorically denies the creators of MUGEN assets those rights. They do not oblige themselves to necessarily even acknowledge the author, let alone any usage agreements or terms that author may have wished for. Given Capcom's stance on this, it is all the same as Band X doing a licensed cover of a Beatles song, it finding its way onto an unauthorised Napster-like site with no fees, no DRM... nothing. You'd be saying its art, it belongs to the public and so the site should be able to host it. You'd also be saying its a derivative work and so is not really art or whatever... and that the site is still ok for hosting it. It is just as ridiculous as saying warehousing is ok, the only difference being the obvious financial reparations involved. And that is only a difference in scale- not in affect or morality.
  17. Copyright is legally bound at the time of the first expression of an idea. It doesn't have to be registered to be effectual.
  18. Don't ownership rights automatically extend 40 years after the death of / last expression of ownership by the creator, legally speaking?
  19. I know there is a small contingent of AC fans here. This is the first trailer for the pseudo-expansion to AC4, Armored Core 4 for Answer, which will arrive on store shelves in Japan on March 19th. It will be released for the 360 and PS3. Armored Core is mech sim more geared towards arcade-y gameplay than tactical realism. However it offers an enormous breadth of customisation options, both mechanical and aesthetic, resulting in an obscenely steep learning curve. Fans will be pleased to know that along with the new 'battle fortress' mega-bosses, AC4A packs a bunch of new online modes in addition to those found in AC4. The franchise is an acquired taste but successes in it are very rewarding. Just as an aside, I personally own more Armored Core games (all 10 released in the PAL format) than games in any other single series or franchise. So apart from dolls, this is my secret passion.
  20. That's an illogical assumption though. An author leaving doesn't necessarily mean they have lost interest and leaving itself shouldn't automatically relinquish control of their creations to the public domain. Family issues, studies, travel etc. could all account for an absence from the scene- however none of those things should impact the basic rights they have over their work.
  21. You have to find an interface for forwarding ports in your router's control panel. Hope this helps; http://portforward.com/routers.htm
  22. I dunno about that... SF has always been about a handful of iconic special moves, as opposed to the lot of weird looking ones you find in games like KoF. There is a lot you can do with Muay Thai as a style in a game... just not in Street Fighter. I'm kind of tripping over myself saying this but giving SF characters too many moves either gives them too much control over space or makes some of their existing moves redundant.
