  1. I'm thinking we should have a subforum in the Reviews & Rants section for Film & Music Reviews. It could a place to trash the latest hacks at the box office, or praise a particularly good album or concert. The key issue is whether or not people would contribute to such a section or not. So could we please get a quick show of hands- would you be interested in writing Film & Music reviews for 1emulation?
  2. Journeyman just started screening in Sydney. I've naturally gone ahead and seen everything up to date. The show is basically about a guy who begins to uncontrollably travel to other periods of time. It explores the consequences of this in his present life, but also offers a glimpse of how past events have shaped his life, and the severity of changes in the stream of cause and effect. So far the series seems to have a solid, if shallow, grasp of causality and is genuinely engaging. The plot twists and turns get progressively interesting across the season and as of right now I'm hooked. Due to that pesky writers' strike there are only 13 episodes in production- 11 of which have aired. There is so much potential in this series that I would hate to see its first season cut short, let alone see the show axed, especially when plot threads are visibly coming together. Does anyone else here watch Journeyman and if so what are your thoughts on the show's future?
  3. Just testing the waters here- would sub-sections in Reviews & Rants dedicated to music / non-games reviews be something people would be willing to contribute to?
  4. Depends entirely on the purpose of the site. Flash is far superior in some applications and not in others. A lot of the posts are similar criticisms as saying documentaries suck because there are no car chases.
  5. You guys know that Australian tennis player, Lleyton Hewitt? Check his sister;
  6. I'm proud of being gay. LOL no I meant in reference to the previous post.
  7. No problems Rubio. I actually played the game a few times back in the day but I lent it to a jerk before I finished it and never saw it again.
  8. Considering 100% (I'm pretty sure?) of DC models can play backups unmodded, I'd say it is the number 1 retro console to hunt down. All you need is the console itself, and thats it. You get so much for such a tiny investment that I can't help but recommend it. I'm so glad I have one.
  9. You can't really improve performance. It likely is just a matter of your computer not being up to the task.
  10. Thanks but I've tried that- I can't get it to work. No matter what browser I use or how I try to clean up the image, it doesn't do anything for me.
  11. I'm not surprised. If the characters are just empty shells or stereotypes, why should you care about them or what winning or losing would mean to them? You don't know anything about them. That's the problem. I also take issue with the pointless ladder progression in VF... each fight as meaningless as the last. Not to mention the ludicrously nonsensical final boss.
  12. The Saturn port of SOTN was crap IIRC. The new areas were ghey and didn't fit the tone of the rest of the game. Was it actually an improvement in any technical ways?
  13. If so then why does any game need a story? Stories help players rationalise and empathise with the gameworld. It makes what is essentialy a mechanical interaction more human, and something the player can relate to. For that reason I think stories are always important and its a copout to say 'oh fighting games don't need stories.. they're about gameplay' or whatever. There is no excuse for a weak storyline. If its weak because things were lost in translation then fair enough, but you can't explain away VF5's sh!t plotline by saying it doesn't need one.
  14. Yeh you don't need to tell me about Ikaruga. That game is pretty much the only reason my Dreamcast is still plugged in right now.
  15. Ah yeh Radiant Silvergun... I'm still camping out for the Live Arcade version of that.
  16. I haven't really been interested in Saturn emulation to date but if Guardian Heroes is decent I'll give it a shot. My impression of Saturn games to buy was that it was limited to the CPS-2 ports and since then the emulation revolution has rendered that a stupid reason.
