  1. So just because your main focus of playing a fighting game is game play/fight engine, and storyline that you usually don't agree with or sucks (as most fighting game story lines do) and has no direct affect on the game play being a secondary focus makes you a chump? No- not knowing sh.t all about the series except that you used to play it at the corner store when you were 12 makes you a chump, not just not knowing or not caring about the storyline. I wasn't arguing for stories in fighting games- I was arguing that Capcom couldn't care less about them, as evidenced by how flaky they are. Characters being old, dead or otherwise, lore speaking, is the last thing they will think of when deciding who returns to the SFIV roster.
  2. The chumps who don't know or care about the SF story will look at SF4 and say "wtf is Guile??". These are the chumps who are gonna remember playing SFII back in the day and want to buy SFIV now that theyre all grown up and have jobs. If history has told us one thing, it is that Capcom does not give a damn about the fans' perspective when it comes to making games. They will just do whatever the hell they want- I dont think its a matter of having a dream match or a proper franchise extension as much as a matter of the game needing certain things to be able to be marketable today, and Capcom not caring about storylines to begin with. What I mean is I dont think it would stop them from making what will most likely sell. I seriously doubt that we will see anything but a lot of returning characters in SFIV.
  3. They can't afford on making another SF3- where all characters except Ryu & Ken are new. This game will be for fans, or at least marketed to the nostalgic older people, whether it ends up being good fan service or not. If they made a new cast, new visual style and new gameplay, why even make SF4 after all these years and not a new property? That said, have older / wiser Ryu & Ken (not that old) and have an older Sagat. My main issue is that a few of the more significant characters NEED to return this time. SF4 NEEDS Sagat, Bison, Guile.. maybe Vega and Urien. Don't think anyone really likes or gives a damn about Gill. They can do whatever they like with the rest of the cast after that. But yeh if there is no Sagat in SF4 I will be pissed to say the least.
  4. I'm getting the box for... the xbox. LOLOLOLOL. Guess you guys won't be playing on that though.
  5. No, that's exactly what it means. 3.51 M33-6 == 3.51 Sony Firmware / System Software
  6. LOLOLOL but how funny was he as Kelly? Funniest ass porn producer I've ever seen. I like him, but I love Jason Statham. He is badass and 2 3rds. Why Haven't I seen WAR yet? Good question. *Fixed
  7. What about it? A CFW lets you play any game that requires the version the CFW is based on. But then try showing me a game that requires 3.60 or higher~
  8. 1991 - Alex Kidd in Miracle World made me want to play video games. 1993 - Sonic 3 made me want to buy a Mega Drive. 2000 - Unreal Tournament & Diablo II made me glad I owned a PC. 2001 - Armored Core 2 made me want to get a PS2. 2002 - Unreal Tournament 2003 made me want to upgrade my comp. 2007 - Gears of War makes me want to get an Xbox. MGS4 makes me want to get a PS3 and Unreal Tournament III makes me want to build a new comp. So yeh gaming still makes me go oh yeh... these last 5 were just boring years for me. I've got a Dreamcast now so I might as well play it but... what was really the big deal with Shenmue? It never sounded that great to me.
  9. For that and Halo I was planning on using the controller anyway... seems like they were designed with it in mind.
  10. Ok so you have a PC gamepad that you want to use on a PS2... why is plugging it into the laptop part of the equation?
  11. The new 65nm processors are in place. 65nm graphics chips won't be in place until late 2008.
  12. Yeh I figured they wouldn't but no harm done. I ended up hearing about the XFPS 360 which allows keyboards etc and also PS2 controllers... so if I get a really desperate need for PC controls I'll just pick that up somewhere. Shame but understandable that its not all available by default. Thanks for the reply Davis.
  13. I'm thinking of getting a 360- that's not news. But the list of games I'm thinking of getting has a rather large number of shooters; -Gears of War -Prey -Bioshock -Halo 3 -The Orange Box set -Unreal Tournament III Anyway can you use USB keyboards and mouses for all games universally on the 360, or does each game need to specifically support it? If its game-specific, does anyone off the bat know which of those games do support the keyboard + mouse? I used to be adamant about not wanting to use a controller / PCs being the way to go, but between a new comp costing so much and me liking the 360 controller and not giving a damn anymore anyway, I think the muchh cheaper 360 is what I'll get, even given how many shooters there are.
  14. If the one you want to buy has 3.71 M33, you can install 3.51 M33-6 on it. The warning Mooney posted up has to do with writing / flashing custom themes to the PSP using 3.71 M33's internal flasher. Don't do that, and you should be ok. But yeh its always easier to get a CFW or 1.50 PSP than getting any old one and having to downgrade it first yourself, so if it looks like a decent listing maybe think about getting that one.
  15. Unreal Tournament III Beta Demo. Damn it. Need new comp. Well, don't need... except coz I want UT3 to look better. Sinful logic.
  16. Not really. But it streamlines the whole process, saves you having to jump around to different firmwares and lets you load everything you can think of from the Game cross bar. Oh and you can encode videos at 480x272 at 768kbps+ with CFWs- you can't with Sony's. You can't even playback AVC on 1.50 actually.
  17. Great work guys. This deserves a sticky methinks.
  18. My average posts per day is 1.1. So I have a right to still be astonished by all this.
  19. What he wants to do is get his unit running a Custom Firmware. Any is fine- I recommend 3.51 M33-6. To do this; (1) Check if he has a TA-082 or later motherboard. Use this image to tell. If it is, then you're going to need a copy of a game like Lumines. If not, you're set to go atm. (2) Downgrade to 1.50. If you don't have a TA-02 or later motherboard the easiest way for a 2.00 to do this is to upgrade to the official Sony firmware 2.71, and then run this 2.71 downgrader. The readme in it has pretty decent instructions. If you do have a TA-082 or later motherboard, upgrade to official Sony Firmware 3.50, and run this 3.50 Downgrader. However for this version you will need an original / old version of Lumines that has not yet been patched. Your best bet would be, if you don't already have one, look for a used copy. There is a similar method using a GTA disc- use that if you have access to that game and not Lumines. Don't upgrade all the way to 3.50 if you plan on using the GTA one however. (3) Upgrade to a custom firmware. Once at 1.50, you can install any CFW. I suggest 3.51 M33. The instructions with CFWs are pretty self explanatory. If you go for 3.51 M33, make sure you get the M33-6 update afterward. That should be it. You can play backups, PS1 games and homebrew once you get the CFW installed. Note you can use the Pandora Battery to downgrade any PSP of any version, but to set that up you'll need a separate homebrew-capable PSP already. It is a lesser hassle if you do have one however.
  20. -Detailed instructions come with the custom firmware you download. Follow them to the letter, and you won't have get a brick They are quite easy to follow anyway. -I say 3.51 M33-6 is the best version to use. Others might disagree. Install 3.51 M33 via the instructions that come with it and then install the 3.51 M33-6 update.
  21. Yep it can play PSP ISOs, homebrew / emulators, and converted PSX games with no problems.
