Older ones carried the OE label. Newer ones are called M33. They're basically the same- made by the same guy. He just changed his name to M33 at one point to avoid the cops. If you install a CFW, you can just as easily install a different one over the top afterward. Just because I'm overly cautious, I'd say install 3.51 M33, get its 3.51 M33-6 update. It's not the latest one out though. If you don't like it you can go to another- this is just the one my gut thinks is the safest right now. Other less paranoid people will tell you to use a newer version. Your call, and like I said you can always jump to another version afterward.

The whole world freaked out, but I went "Meh"

Well the way I see it, the other companies are selling their expensive hardware for less than it costs them to manufacture it. The Wii is a bunch of old tech that Nintendo is selling for more than it costs them to make it. So yeh I think it is overpriced, considering how the competition is taking a hit on each unit sold. Wii isn't as much as the other systems, but I still think its too expensive (at least here anyway) considering you're getting 2 Gamecubes ducted together and and a cheap peripheral for almost $400AUD. -

I still hate... Half-Life / Counterstrike / Half-life 2 Battlefield Series Call of Duty Series Ghost Recon Series Tomb Raider Series Super Smash Bros. Series Wii / Wiimote / WiiPlay / WiiSports / everything to do with the overhyped, overpriced gayass Wii Age of Empires Series Virtua Fighter Series All the Final Fantasy Spinoffs I used to also hate Metal Gear just because of the hype. I gave the first one the benefit of the doubt about 4 years after its release and it changed my mind. -
Downgrading is the hard part. After you get to 1.50 you can basically update to any CFW you like. I'm just staying at 3.51 M33-6 because there is no real reason for me to go higher and those new firmwares are all having problems, minor and major.

I'm at 3.51 M33-6. I'd say unless you really need to, don't try firmwares based on things 3.60 and above. Just for peace of mind's sake.

Please refer to my brilliant tutorial for how to play your PS1 games on your PSP. You don't need an emulator- you just need to process your PS1 ISOs first. And yes, you will need a custom firmware based on 3.00 or higher. You're on your own for that part.

[10/9/2007] QuasiCON 2 Player Arcade Stick Review
BlackKnight replied to Alpha's topic in 1Emulation.com Reviews [/reviews]
Great review but I can tell I won't like this product. The handicap-friendly design doesn't interest me but it's really the pressure buttons and stick that annoy me. Pressure sensitivity? Personally I'd only buy an arcade stick to play arcade style games on- ones that maybe were designed with a stick in mind. Analogue buttons just become a nuisance not only because of the tiring you mentioned but also because of the inherent delay involved. For something like Street Fighter you need to have a button press register in split seconds - struggling to fully depress a button can be a problem as I see it. The same goes for the stick. I've seen a lot of solid bat sticks but really if they don't let you get off quarter circles quickly and easily then the durability doesn't matter at all. I'd much rather bash my way across 5 or 6 Hori Fighting Sticks for that price than use something durable that makes the basic motions difficult. Not that I'd necessarily buy either but insofar as you're comparing the QuasiCON and the Tankstick the latter suits me far more. Buttons on the side and a trackball would be useful in emulating some of the more eclectic arcade games out there. On the other hand I can't see any real use for the analogue sticks unless you're playing a console game... in which case I'd imagine you'd either really be disabled or should be using a gamepad like the developers intended instead. The layout cards are about the only things I do like about this stick. -
Maybe bullets were his only weakness. How did they know?

Unreal Tournament III PC requirements released

Did you say before you were running a 6600GT? How the hell do you swing that; I'm at 800x600, Texture Detail 3, World Detail 2 and getting about 30-40fps. -

Heat Ray? I like that map. I love the performance I'm getting with this demo as well... ...it just has turned out to be an utter crash-fest so far. I haven't been able to knock up 5 frags without the game crashing, forcing me to restart, and going from the top again only to crash after 30 secs or less again. So far the crashes seem to be happening to everyone though, so I guess I'll ride it out... -
Mame runs slow now and the music skips
BlackKnight replied to Fatal Rose's topic in Arcade Emulators [/pc/arcade]
The MAME line is that they go for accuracy over speed. So sometime updated drivers actually run *slower* than the old ones. Lemme guess- CHD games? Killer Instinct? For a lot of those you're better off using an older build. -

I have a crap connection. I can count the number of times I've played UT online on one hand. -

Unreal Tournament is the reason I play PC shooters. 'Nuff said. Seriously though, the Unreal games aren't that great- it's just the Unreal Tournament series are the best multiplayer shooters around. Everything about them is best in class... graphics, game modes, AI... not to mention the mind boggling number of skins, maps, mods that exist APART from the hundreds or so Epic has released for each game over its lifetime. Mostly the attention comes from its technology being 2 generations ahead of its time at release. UT2003 was the first (and last) title that made me actually upgrade hardware to make a game will run better. -
The world is now officially upside down. I will enjoy laying some triple spin smackdown with my favourite mascot on Mario and Link though... oh wait... I don't have a Wii.
