  1. Sega Rally Revo (PSP) Parappa the Rapper (PSP) & World of Warcraft (PC)... ...still.
  2. M33 hasn't wasted any time releasing 3.60 M33, a Custom Firmware for the brand new PSP Slim & Lite! So far this release has been given a clean bill of health over at a couple of forums. Still remember that the new machine may be unpredictable, and there has always been a risk of BRICKING your PSP in the past with Custom Firmwares, so be careful. Remember also that the brick-reviving Pandora battery will not save your Slim & Lite if anything goes wrong. Anyway, cheers again to Team M33! Great work in record time. 3. What the hell is with Team Silent jumping ship on everything all of a sudden? I thought the reason why Climax was doing Origins was because the old team was busy on 5? But anyway wtf was with that interviewer? 'The combat was always crappy'... 'Silent Hill bosses suck'... wtf? And the designer- 'I've played most of the old Silent Hills'... most? Wtf does that mean? I bet he just watched the movie and considers himself an expert. For people who claim to love the franchise, geez... And then the guy being a soldier? If any one of those punks knew flock all about the atmospheric difference between Silent Hill and your next survival horror series, they'd know it was the helplessness of playing your average Joe that made everything so scary. As they say- if you're in power in a situation you're not scared. But who the hell is going to be scared of nurses with knives if you're a combat specialist? I don't see how they can escalate things enough to create the same set-upon feeling that people experienced as Harry or James. Overall I'm not too impressed, either with the game or the attitude of these guys. The little girl with crayons (I am sick of little girls in these new-age Silent Hills) was a cliche, but that scene in the toilet where the camera pans to the last cubicle as things shift to the other world, and then a nurse comes out and lurches toward the player was worse. It seemed like one of the hack cutscenes from Doom 3. This game seems to be indicative of where Silent Hill is going- looks like garbage, and, dare I say it, the series I once swore by is now dead.
  4. The other thing is that the current exploit doesn't let you boot backups. It lets you run cogswap or whatever you like, but you still then have to swap in and out a real disc and the backup disc. Apparently VAST will let you boot a burnt game right off the bat.
  5. Well, not a Bravia, but yeh some progressive display. Seems like us CRT-owners are getting the shaft hard.
  6. It is unfortunate though that games run in the bordered mode- I suspect emulators and such will be subject to the same. So its probably not going to be a real portable Mega Drive / Playstation with a custom firmware, but it should be close enough. EDIT: A progressive scan TV is required for game TV-output? Wtf? I dunno how I missed that little point... guess I won't be getting one after all.
  7. This will, in no uncertain terms, be the clincher in my decision whether or not to buy the new PSP.
  8. I think we can all agree the game looks good and plays smoothly, and that it is probably due to the lower resolution the PSP runs at. Just a misunderstanding here I hope.
  9. I agree. I really didn't think they'd be able to pull it off but they haven't missed a mark so far.
  10. FreeVAST. A MagicGate signed file to be used on any memory card with the same functions as VAST. Will be released in 4 weeks.
  11. I just hope that whatever little coverage this may get in the international media is enough to let people know that Kevin Rudd, the leader of the opposition at our upcoming federal election, is a complete and utter d1ckw@d.
  12. In terms of gameplay at least you'll find this a marked improvement from the stiff controlling previous games.
  13. Get the 1.50 and 3.40 updates in the recovery folder with the OEUpdateMaker renamed as per the instructions. When you have a DATA.DXAR, put it and the OEFlasher in the recovery folder and run it.
  14. That's a lot of questions- I'll try to answer them. -You can use Swap Magic on your Slim PS2 but will need another method to access the disc- you cannot use the Slide Card you have now. -Some copied games can work online and some wont. Games since about 2004-2005 require DNAS patching to work online. -As for the headset, it depends on the game. Is it a PS2 headset? -You don't need a hard drive to play games on the net- only FFXI requires one. All you need is a Network Adapter. -You cannot buy a hard drive for a PS2 from Best Buy. The reason is Sony branded ones are out of print, Maxtor IDE drives will work except that Maxtor was bought out almost a year ago, Seagate ones since late 2005 aren't recognised by the PS2 and Western Digital ones will not physically fit the Network Adapter without some dismantling. Either search for an old Maxtor one, or take pot luck with Seagate or WD - but as I said you don't need one to play online games. Hope that helps.
  15. I am honestly stumped mate so I will give you a really basic tip and hope its the right one- if not I have no idea; When you turn it on, don't hold R for recovery, but instead wait for it to startup normally and then press the brightness button. Does that work?
  16. You tell me. Where'd you get it from? Does it flash all the way to 100% for both the 1.50 subset and the main 3.40 firmware?
  17. Get a 1.50 update PBP. Put it in the right place. Run it from the Recovery Console. If you're doing some flash dump thing (why?) I don't know what you've done but if it boots back into recovery then it isn't permanent.
  18. Sure its possible. Haze has a Mega Drive emulator called HazeMD that's based on the MAME code. Go make a SNES one
  19. The good people over at PSP Fanboy have compiled a new hands-on article about a retail PSP Slim & Lite. The most interesting parts concern some dismal confirmations about the TV-out feature; Check out the full article here. In other news our friend 0okm has reported his hands on account of the new unit and plans to dismantle one himself, just for our viewing pleasure. Check his blog for the details.
  20. It might not be that long- the internals of the new machine aren't so far removed that exploits won't be possible. However the universal downgrading / unbricking batteries don't work on the new unit. As for emulators, there are NeoGeo, SNES, NES and Genesis emulators but 'MAIM' emulation is very very poor.
  21. He is a statue in Rugal's stage in KOF94 Re-Bout.
  22. Here's a post from over at insertcredit.com; I can't verify any of this but what the hell? Where did that come from? Maybe my WoW-induced semi-absence has kept me out of the loop, but what is a Capcom character doing in a KOF98 retune? Does anyone have a source on this apart from that dude at MMCafe? Source: insertcredit.com. ...and, if there is truth in this, who do you reckon it will be?
  23. How could such a fat guy mimic the animations of someone like Hwoarang or Devil Jin? Mokujin was generic enough to be able to pull these things off, but I really have my doubts about Bob being able to.
