Man smashes Xbox 360 in front of crowd.

Sure, but we have some odd ones here in Canada too. That guy's from Canada, not the US. -
Smash TV is like TEH PWN! When you say online multiplayer, are you saying 2 players? Or did they make a version for more than 2 players? I so love that game, still have the cart for my SNES! (Never played it in the arcade) "Big money! Big Money!" Edit: NM, just read on Gamespot..........2 players. 8 way action would rock!

You base this on one game? From a franchise that is well known to be poorly ported to console? Don't blame the hardware, blame the company responsible for the port. Doom 3 is great on Xbox. Doom 3 Xbox > Activision, Vicarious Visions Quake 4 Xbox 360 > Activision, Raven Software Both run on the same engine, so where does the fault lie? Activision is a publisher, so that leaves Raven Software to blame.........for a bad port.

I laugh my ass off at all these people paying more than retail for a 360. It's just very sad.......Core systems are going for upwards of $700 on Ebay. CORE SYSTEMS! Even if I had the money, I have more brains than money and I wouldn't rip myself off, I can wait a month, or even 3.

GeForce 4 MX440 8X 64 MB DDR TV-OUT
ken_cinder replied to Jjangthekid's topic in Nerd's Chatter [/nerds]
You sure must have one hell of a bloatware filled system in that case. You can't run Doom 3 or Farcry with an FX5200? Mind you that T-bird CPU is one hell of a bottleneck, and running that card on it gets you no further than a GeForce 3 would. I can run Call of Duty perfectly fine on my P4 1.4Ghz with a Radeon 8500 and 512MB of RDRAM. Doom 3, configured properly, runs great on it as well on medium settings. Farcry I can run with a mix of low and medium settings, smoothly. Half Life 2 runs smooht as well, albeit with all the details on low. I sacrifice nothing with resolution, NEVER no damn 640x480......I can't bear that. 800x600 minimum. When all fails, and you can't run the latest games with half decent hardware (Mine is and has been declared, OUTDATED LONG AGO) clean the crap up off your computer and getting it running better. -

Jandaman.com and 1Emulation Affiliation
ken_cinder replied to Gryph's topic in 1Emulation.com Information [/info]
I know of Jandaman's site very well, I've never purchased anything there myself, but I've directed numerous people there before and have never had a complaint. Once I had my shop running, I was selling stuff like Saturn mods for instance, to the community I hung around in (Sega related), and if I was out of stock I sent em there. Great choice for a partnership. -
I love how launch is done on a Tuesday though. This means these people have the best chance of getting one. #1: People who work nights (Mind you I'd want to go home and sleep, and if you work midnights......you miss midnight launches) #2: People on the welfare (I'd be willing to bet many of these people will spend their check on a 360 roofles) #3: Stay at home soccer moms buying one for their kids #4: Morons losing a days pay, to take the day off to buy a 360. (Wheres the "YOU ARE AN IDIOT!" website?) For the rest of us who work during the day, it's a big "FLOCK YOU!" Why the hell wouldn't you launch on a Friday? Good thing I'm not stupid enough to ever pay launch prices for a console anyway.
-
Isn't launch day tomorrow anyway? Midnight tonight for some places?

You get a free re-list when something like that happens (When the item doesn't sell, or a bidder doesn't pay), but if it doesn't sell the second time around you wind up paying all the fees. If I didn't know you were trying to get cash for it to fund a 360, I'd ask you if you wanted to trade it for a Crystal Xbox and a bit of cash. Then again........I'm not too fond of portables. Me ogre with portable stuff, me break.

and we all know how well the neogeo home system sold......... Pricing wasn't the only thing that made the Neo systems sell poorly. How do you expect to sell a name only known in the arcade world, to home users? That and it was never advertised, I don't remember seeing an ad for the CD or AES, EVER. Not even a flyer/poster anywhere.

Given IBM's recent reports detailing that the Cell processor cost considerably more to manufacture than the 360 or Rev processors, I highly doubt it will hit the same price point as the 360, and DEFINITELY not less. Microsoft is losing money on the 360 hardware from the get-go, Sony won't take a loss on hardware sales, especially one bigger than Microsoft. Oh and the GPU in the PS3, unlike the other 2 again......has already been stated by NvIdia, to be a completely custom job. Whereas, at least with the 360, it was designed around a similar core. Therein too lies another higher price point. Pull your fanboy head out of your ass.

Sega also didn't push the Dreamcast at all, and they had a HORRIBLE machine for a pre-cursor.....the Saturn. I don't care if you like your Saturn, I own one too and it's not half bad......but it was a flop, FACE IT!
-
At whats been said to be twice the price (And the 360 will go lower once the PS3 comes out too), with the possibility (Though still just a rumour) of DRM locking out any game that hasn't been used on your system first, I HIGHLY doubt it. It's still a solid fact that the avg consumer is also oblivious (aka stupid), and simply buys what comes out first. Thats why the PS2 did so well, they had a huge head start......and so will the 360. Anyone with any business or marketing sense would know this.

No it wouldn't, the description is an optional include, under a completely different anchor in the XML. You don't need to display it if you don't want to.
-
Checking the RSS feeds, in particular the only one I use, the Emulation News feed doesn't have any description. I don't know about the others, I don't use them. Can the feed be updated to include the 1st post in the description? I'd like to be able to read the initial post without having to actually go to the page itself.

Roofles.......you ask the question where the difference is a huge leap? What you ask is like "Should I buy a Chevy Cavalier, or a Ferrari?" I'm no fan of Audi, nor do I care for all these overpriced luxury cars, but hello! *Smacks forehead*

Yay! Bring on the AOL hate. If it weren't for AOL, the internet wouldn't have all the idiots it does, and spyware, malware and viruses on Windows wouldn't be so prevalent. There wouldn't be enough stupid people to make it worth the bother of creating these things! *Stabs AOL with a Spork™*

Even if you had the money, good luck getting your hands on one at almost every place that'll be selling em, without a pre-order. Alot of people who placed pre-orders won't even be getting one due to shortages in stock on release day. Most major retailers are estimating that anyone without a pre-order already placed, won't be able to get their hands on one until at least January, and they aren't taking more pre-orders either.

A question about saturn
ken_cinder replied to bogard81's topic in DreamCast & Saturn Emulators [/pc/dc+saturn]
No, you would still require an Action Replay 4 in 1 to play retail imports. Backups you can use a tool called SATCONV on before you burn them, to change the region to whatever region the Saturn is. -
I think it was. Games in the 16 bit era for instance had the graphically impressive "Wow" factor wih some better looking games, but you quickly forgot about that if the gameplay was just as impressive. The gameplay back then didn't need to be complex either, just fun. Some things are lacking with 99% of games these days, most of all the biggest one of all, the FUN FACTOR. If a game is very fun, you quickly forget about how good it looks or how good the story is.

Moved to Vintage Computer, for Amiga related threads belong there.
