Emulation doesn't just "happen" for one thing. Secondly, since the Saturn, Sega has been known for creating hardware that is just too hard to develop for (It's complicated and a bit more advanced than where it technically should be) The Dreamcast for one, uses Hitachi SH4 CPU and inline graphics processing on a custom video chipset........etc etc And the Saturn is taking even longer to properly emulated because it runs 8 (Yes 8!) inline processors. This results in hardware that is harder to emulate than most relatively simple hardware configurations. That and comparing the console's specs to your PC has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with what kinda PC should be able to emulate it. Thats like comparing apples and oranges............ I think you can get the idea, no?

Nah, we just need to make another forum JUST for Disoblige "Disoblige's Poll's and Stuff"! I'm just kidding, I know he's just trying to keep people being active on here when specific forums aren't an interest at a certain time for people. (Read MY idea in the top most stickied thread. We should lose a forum or two that are well.........useless) And grouping the Neo-Geo and CPS1 forums together would be good (Kawaks runs both etc) But Mame should stay on it's own and so should Pinball) And how about taking the console forums and grouping them based on manufacturer, with sub forums? Like this....... Nintendo Emulation > Nintendo64 + NES/SNES (And Gamecube in the future) Sony > Playstation + Playstation 2 (Now or later) Sega > Master System + Genesis + Saturn (etc) We could also do away with the "Handheld" forum by making forums in each manufacturer's sub forum list for their handhelds (Gameboy and Gameboy Advance etc) So that we keep the main forum page less cluttered, but can add sub forums without worrying about.......well, more clutter on the main page of the forum. It would allow us to have a much more diverse forum without looking messy and cluttered with too much on the main page!

Hello Today at approximately 9:30 PM EST someone using internet service provided through your domain came to our website at http://www.1emulation.com under the IP address 150.137.68.68 Defacing our forums with slanderous posts and passing himself off as someone we know him not to be. This person has done this before under other addresses within your domain and we have simply passed it off as pretty much harmless up to this point. Within recent months he has uttered threats to our webmaster, our users and threatened to deface and ruin our website. We have currently left posts by him intact for all to see (He has this time gone by the name "Teckel") someone we all know from another respected website who is NOT based anywhere near where this address originated from and has much better use grammar. An investigation into this would be MUCH appreciated as we are quite frankly getting sick and tired of the abuse of our site. Thank you in advance and I hope to hear back from you. Ok ok! I won't request a Fruit Machine forum. Or a forum on tabletop gambling machines. Alot of forums is good though (Within reason) Keeps topics from getting lost in the shuffle of topics about OTHER things. Anyway ATM, yeah we have enough. Could use getting rid of the "Breaking News" forum (Nobody uses it really, and anything in there might as well go to the front page anyway) and renaming the "Emulators And Plugins News & Updates" to simply "News and Updates".

I agree too. I don't have the $800 for a student liscenced copy of 3D Studio Max (Let alone the cost in the thousands for a normal copy) So I download. Applications are crazily priced these days, and they are certainly begging for them to be pirated.

PAL is poopie anyway. If someone has a problem booting games with Utopia, it's generally something THEY did wrong burning a game. As it's well known to boot any Import. However, we are talking about PAL here.........some NTSC games just simply WILL NOT work unless patched. As for this "VGA trick", if your copying games.......you CAN set the flag in the IP.BIN to true for VGA if you know how and have the right editing tools. But it's not much help with games you've already burnt. You could always try finding out how to edit the IP.BIN on a Utopia disc image and set it's VGA flag to "True" and using it as a boot disc that will enable VGA. No guarantee this will work, but it's worth a try. I suggest you start looking at the tools found on DCEmulation Good luck!

See it from his end. It costs money for EPROM reader adapters to read surface mount chips etc etc (ALOT of money) Clamoring for an early release of roms he might need to redump or do something with is only agrevating. If some people were to donate money to cover HIS costs involved, it might not be so annoying to hear all the people out there that haven't contributed a damn thing to the scene bugging for the roms to be released. I'd do the same thing.

Obviously I just started using this myself, but having used ALOT of emulators I didn't find it hard. (However I'm not good at teaching, but here goes anyway) Step 1: Download Visual Pinball here and PinMAME here. Step 2: Run the installation for Visual Pinball and install it wherever you please. Step 3: Unpack PinMAME to the same folder you installed Visual Pinball to. Step 4: Run setup.exe for PinMAME and configure everything to your liking (Just remember where you're gonna put things afterwards) Step 5: Download a table and it's corresponding roms from here. Unzip the table into a folder you have assigned for Visual Pinball Tables (Usually the "Tables" folder where you installed VP) and leave the roms zipped in the folder you told PinMAME to use for roms. Step 6: Download the needed VBS Scripts from here (It's at the top of the page) and unpack ALL of them where you just unpacked your table to. Step 7: Open Visual Pinball, go to FILE > OPEN and select the table you want. (Don't forget to set your options in PREFERENCES regarding video and keys!) Step 8: Click on the big PLAY button to the left in the pane, or select TABLE > PLAY from the dropdown menu. There! You should be playing Pinball games on your PC in no time!

Makes sense to put it in the Arcade forum group. As for keeping it active, I hope so. Myself, I just have questions and would like a guide in starting to use pinball stuff, maybe some sites with tables etc.

Yeah but we could have a table request thread, people who follow it more than most of us could direct us to sites for downloads, guides and whatnot. Methinks pinball stuff would get lost in the sea that is "General Arcade Emulation". I'd like to hear what Gamecop thinks, cause I'm not gonna just go and add it because I have Admin status and am able to do so. It's his site afterall.

The title has "tactics" in it and it's for PSX, but it's neither FF Tactics or Tactics Ogre. I'm 100% stumped, because I can't even find a game listed ANYWHERE that fits that.

Just use Utopia to boot retail imports. It works.

Chrono Cross works great in ePSXe Certain fixes that were put into 1.6.0 even made for Chrono Cross to work well, perfect. Make sure all your plugins are up to date. And you're running the latest version of ePSXe. My suggested plugins: Video: Pete's D3D or OpenGL Audio: Eternal SPU CDROM: Default ePSXe plugin(s) Bios: I use scph7502 myself, and it works well for every game I've played. But scph1001 is the "recommended" bios to use.

Complaints? What complaints? Only one I had was that I didn't like the default skin for the new forum engine when we switched over. Complaints about similey's and silly little things like that should be directed to the "Who care's? NOBODY!" forum.

Ebay! And no, if you've got old games on floppies that the system has been emulated, most have the ability to dump your floppy to a rom image. Some will even read the disks in the emulator (Such as Atari ST emu's)

People say that's what demo's are for. I say demo's don't give you enough gameplay to judge a game. Most demo's give you THE best mission/level in the game to try out, and when you do buy the game, you end up extremely disappointed. If game demo's were like applications with 30 day expiry, I think more people would buy games rather than download them. Personally.........I'm sick of "shovelware" titles, that great preview movies are shown on TV etc, and the game turns out to be a piece of crap.
