I use Avast, the Free version. Fully featured unlike other free AV. I tried AVG, and it's ok, but it's very limited. For instance, a file you KNOW isn't a virus, can't be excluded from detection in the free version. Big PITA, the keyhook dll for MaLa is detected as one, and you can't run MaLa because of it unless you disable AVG.

Just as bad as Norton Antivirus and it's hidden secure recycle bin it fails to inform you of. I long since stopped using NAV, but back when I moved from 2000 to 2003, I magically wound up with 20+GB of missing hard drive space, that could not be accounted for. This NAV feature, hides itself as a system folder on each drive, and EVERYTHING you delete is stored there even if you permanently delete it from your normal recycle bin (Which is automatic for me, I don't use the Recycle bin, when I delete stuff it's on purpose).

The Top 10 Deaths Caused by Video Games
ken_cinder replied to Alpha's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Why? Because a good number of people with a borderline mentally challenged IQ level, take a turd of a game so seriously it's like real life for them? I tried a trial of this game, not only was the gameplay ass, so were the N64 palette colors and piss-poor models. There are better FREE MMO's than this unpolished turd. -
This NeoGeo cart is CRAZY!
ken_cinder replied to The Raincheck's topic in Arcade Emulators [/pc/arcade]
Always FS over on KLOV and the Neo Geo forums, I've pondered buying one a few times.........but they're kind of a rip-off IMO. Buggy they are. -
No, I prefer your vasoline-o-vision, the original look just ruins my childhood by showing me how horribly pixelated games were back then. I remember them looking so awesome, and seeing them now in their true form just ruins that memory.

I run a Zelda theme on mine, but to be honest I may just sell the whole damn thing. Wife bought it for Christmas before last, and I may have used it a total of 30-40 hours. There just aren't enough good games for it, the ones there are I've already played and beaten. Lot's of junk shovelware on the DS.

I don't think they shut down, they just moved factories. Anyway, if your buddy is using an 8GB card in his, he has one of the clones that was made to support SDHC. Not sure on what the difference is, if any, with regards to compatibility etc.

I like pic #2, Sex-retary, wonder where I could find a B+P set like that for my wife, they're hot.
-
Yep, you'd be hard pressed to fit a 17" laptop into my laptop backpack. Might squeeze it in, but barely.
-
Biggest screen size is 17" from what I've seen, 15" is plenty for a laptop.
-
What does this have to do with anything? No emulator I use on Xbox stretches widescreen unless you set it to do so.
-
Not once you bog that thing down with junk and get another virus. And my laptops vid runs circles around that circus freak Intel chip.
-
The other one was better CPU wise, AND had Radeon HD series video in it. This thing has Intel GMA.......ewww EWWWWWW!

Where does this so called fact come from that these older systems output 240p, anyway? Televisions were never capable of outputting in progressive back then. I've read lots of technical blabber about this, but they do not output 240p to the display device, even if internally they may generate that signal to start with. You have never seen these systems in their real hardware form, in 240p unless you're tapping the video signal internally thus modifying the system.

What a combo deal! I guess the crack came with a beautiful woman as well. That, or he is trying to tell you that if you smoke crack, women are going to be knocking at your door 24/7. They probably will be as you're dazed and confused. Beautiful woman? $50 for crack AND female organ........yeah, what planet do you live on? I picture a snaggle-toothed 25 year old that actually looks like she's 50, in a room with a stained mattress and pipes and needles on the floor. I'd NEVER pay for it, but if I HAD to.......I'd be forking over the premium, for something clean via a contact at a gentleman's club TYVM

10-15% increase with a 200% cost increase.......I don't get it one bit.

I don't get using RAID in a home environment, especially RAID 0. If any disk in the array fails in RAID 0, you lose ALL your data. Not worth the meager performance increase it provides. Then there's using it to provide redundancy, who in a home environment can actually claim to have enough sensitive data that requires wasting money on two drives for identical data? Almost nobody. RAID is such a waste for home use.

I actually use original Xbox systems in the house for that, no need for HD crap. I have 3 Xbox systems setup for this purpose. 1 in my office, 1 in the living room and 1 in the basement. All networked semi-wirelessly to eachother (Wireless routers upstairs and downstairs in a bridge setup). No not bragging, all of this is actually done on the cheap.......I'm a frugal cheap SOB.
-
I finally caved, bought another hard drive. I didn't NEED it, as I tend to burn most things, but it was cheap so I figured what the hell. I'm thinking to myself now, I'll never need all this space, but I was saying I wouldn't need more than 40GB only like 4 or 5 years ago.......yeah right. Started dumping movies\TV shows back onto the drive for streaming on the Xbox's in other parts of the house. So much space.......I'm going to need to go on a download binge. I need another case too, using one I swapped for a PC I gave a family member because I liked the sleek design of it. Bad choice, only has 3x3.5" bays. I had to remove my card reader to put this drive in. 1x80GB 1x250GB 1x1TB Maybe I'll just get another case and go with 6 1TB drives lol

The worst thing you have ever bought off ebay?
ken_cinder replied to emsley's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I've never made a purchase I don't need, so the answer is nothing. -
I just got a 360 a few days ago, came with Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda, which I will probably never play. I went and picked up GRAW and Dark Sector for $8 a piece, they were like new. Didn't find any other games I wanted at the time, and I'll never pay $60+ for any game, ever.

If you're anal enough to want this, you should own the real thing. I think the games look better scaled and filtered, by far.

Started Building my First MAME Arcade Machine
ken_cinder replied to DIYROMArcade's topic in Arcade Emulators [/pc/arcade]
What you are building is called a "Bartop", looks good so far. As for controls, what exactly do you have in mind for your needs? Only going to play some older MAME titles? A standard 8 way will do, maybe a small trackball if you need it. Going to run other emulators? If you plan on this standard 8 ways will do, but if you plan to run N64 or Playstation emulators you may want to look into an analog stick like the Ultrastik 360 from Ultimarc. They're pricey, but they are so awesome. Lay out your plans on what you will run on the machine, and I can better point you in the right direction.
