If your monitor isn't set for 4:3, it will stretch everything on it's own. Vert games are given black borders to begin with, so those will remain unchanged unless you specify otherwise. A 4:3 desktop resolution on a widescreen display for instance, will be stretched to fill the entire screen unless you tell your display otherwise. This can be done either on the display itself (usually) or sometimes on the graphics hardware.

I installed and messed around a bit, but I'm going to have to put it on my desktop. Not easy to play with a touchpad on a laptop.

Do you believe the world will end in 2012?
ken_cinder replied to Alpha's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
To Madman: Yes, cause we all know the US is the world, and that publication proves it. Or wait? It proves that too many f**king people in the US think the US is the world, mostly the media! While these things surely have an impact on the rest of the world, it's but a mere ding right now. Not the catastrophe it's being made out to be "on a global scale". I'm sorry, but it needs to be said, that when your country pulls it's f**king head out of it's ass and stops pretending they ARE the world, these huge ups and downs will go away. If not, the 1930s will be coming back and kicking everyone in the teeth. Only this time, a world war won't save things, and this time around the US will be the primary target (Too much damn world policing and smug attitude by your government officials) -
Shouldn't the supported platform list read PC, PS3, 360, Mac? Theres no such thing as a Mac anymore, there are however PC's running OSX, which makes it nothing more than a *nix box. I'm starting to get the feeling of overhype with this game though. Nothing ID has put out since the original Doom/Doom 2 has been "WOW!" and worthy of the hype. Sure, they've been great games/engines but generally overhyped. Doom 3 was fun but wasn't "all that", Quake 4 kinda sucked. Quake 3 arena was nothing more than a tech demo........user content for that engine has made it what it is (And the engine was being used still far beyond where it should have)

Women and tattoos on the back of the neck?
ken_cinder replied to Alpha's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
My wife has several tats, including one on her lower back. I'm fine with them. She also had dozens of body piercings when we started dating. Most of these I did not like, and now that we're married and have a daughter I will not tolerate them in the least. I on the other hand, have none. Just 3 piercings in my left ear. I used to have 5 in the left and 2 in the right. -
How many favorites do you have in your browser
ken_cinder replied to Robert's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
20 or 30, and I HATE tabs. I like my seperate windows. -
Well, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is the actual name of the game. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is what I was hoping you'd say, I have no interest in QW. I'd have to download it, I only have it around for Linux atm.
-
Which one? I'm not buying Quake Wars, so it would have to be Wolfenstein ET.

This should be EXACTLY what you need. Several schools using it according to their site. PHP based, MySQL backed. Just keep in mind, the demo calendar on their site is VERY basic, you can customize it's appearance as much as you could your own web page. http://www.php-calendar.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

Red Bull, Monster, and all the other energy drinks ...
ken_cinder replied to Alpha's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Waste of money. They contain NOTHING that is useful to your body. Ginseng, Guarana etc etc.......useless marketing ploys. The sugar may give you a short lived energy boost, but you're better off eating something decent and letting your body synthesize glucose on it's own (Like it's supposed to!). The human body, or any animal for that matter, is designed to intake WATER and ONLY water. Everything else we drink is for satisfying a want. That said, I drink entirely way too much coffee, but caffeine has it's "perks" -
How many hours of sleep do you usually get?
ken_cinder replied to Alpha's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
5-6. I can't recall the last time I got 8 or more. I used to skip sleeping some nights when I was single and lived with my parents. Would go to work, come home and stay up all night. Go to work the next day and maybe sleep a few hours or go a second night with no sleep. I'd often pull a 16-18 hour sleep on the weekend when I did that. It is NOT healthy btw! -
^ Truth - Deep dish is the equivalent of "chinese food", it's over americanized pizza and disgusting. Thin crust is not "original" either, I'm surprised you think that with an Italian background Shiba. Real Italian pizza is nice and thick, but thick crust isn't that either from a pizza joint, that is just the dough rolled up thicker at the edges. I like mine that way, so I can't vote.........we don't eat your version of Deep Dish pizza up here, the general population would puke just looking at it. I used to go to this little Italian bakery near work all the time, and would sit and drink double espresso's until my eyes popped out of my head. The old lady who ran the front section (baked goods and vegetables) would also pretty much force feed me pizza pie (Think deep dish, only not so yucky deep and grease filled, with a pie crust ontop. It was like a pizza quiche) and tell me I was too skinny (I was back then, 155lbs at 20 years old)

Is there a way to change your ip address?
ken_cinder replied to SF2MJ's topic in Nerd's Chatter [/nerds]
Changing it at your ISPs end MAY be feasible (Depending on how your ISP is set up, you can manually configure your IP address and it may stick). But that won't let sites not see your IP address. Use a web proxy. Google web proxy and you should get plenty of useful results. -
Is there a way to change your ip address?
ken_cinder replied to SF2MJ's topic in Nerd's Chatter [/nerds]
Change it where? With your ISP? On your LAN? To your router? Quite a vague question, and no your IP address isn't tied to any registration, though cookies can be which would require you to login again if that is the case. Since you've asked such a vague question, I would suggest you Google some info on how IP addresses work and are assigned, as this is obviously WAY out of your scope of knowledge right now. I'm being honest, like I always am, and don't intend to offend you. You may not need to Google if you give this a read - http://www.tcpipguide.com/free/t_toc.htm No, not all of it (Unless you're bored, there is ALOT of info there) but at least the fundamentals and specific information related to TCP/IP. -
Umm date? 2020? 2011? nm I reads the link, 08. This year. Not sure if I should say "Cool" or "Who gives a $hit!". I got sick of GTA games after 3.......they're all the same with a new coat of paint and get boring REAL fast.

No, he can easily do what you asked. I do it myself so that my main PC has a totally direct connection to the internet. Cable Modem PC1 PC2/PC3/Xbox/PS2 etc I use Internet Connection Sharing, with port forwarding for specific things if need be. It all depends on your needs though. I HATE routers and they interfere with much that I do, so the way I do things works well for me.

The next step, is to reset the counter! -
I was about to ask the same question, I'm interested in giving MAME a go on my Xbox again. From what I've gathered with running a MAME box (PC) in my arcade cab, 0.87 is where the buck stops for good performance. 0.88 and on, the core is just too damn slow. What MAME version IS this utilizing?

Wasn't saying forget, was saying this thread is useless and unnecessary. There are days of remembrance for many things, and people observe them. What they DON'T tend to do, is dredge the same thing up over and over by trying to put it in the public eye, like this thread is doing. I'll say it again, it just makes it look to the rest of the world like americans are 3 year olds pulling a tantrum. Every year, it's like 9/11 overshadows ANYTHING that has ever happened prior because people act like they need to put up some huge sign reminding everyone as if they forgot. It's flocking annoying and I'm sure the families of victims aren't appreciative of it. Remembrance is one thing, insisting on publicizing the same thing year after year by not just something like this thread, but the media even is asinine!

Oh and I might add, the death toll is pinned at 3000 for the events of 9/11. Know what the death toll in US soldiers alone in Iraq is? (Not even including Afghanistan) 4155! With over 30000 wounded. Now.....tell me I shouldn't be telling people to STFU about 9/11 and move on. I dare you......
-
OLD WTF Seriously, I'm getting sick of this 9/11 bullshit. Yeah it was terrible, but worse things happen on a daily basis in other parts of the world. World War II spanned 5 years and over 70 million people died as a result of it, thousands at a time on daily basis..........yet people don't talk about each occurrence each day. It happened SEVEN F**KING YEARS AGO! And again, it sucked.........but everyone needs to get over it, and stop waving this flag. The rest of the world looks at you with the same eyes one looks at a 3 year old throwing a temper tantrum because of it.

Thanks guys. Virtually unscathed being a touch of an understatement though. I think I'm out of commission for the rest of the week at least. Appear to have injured my right arm worse than I thought, I can barely move it today. Grabbing my coffee off the table infront of me is a challenge. I'll heal, but I'll have to take it easy for awhile so I don't injurn my shoulder further. My mother is such a tard though. She called today, after I told her what happened last night. To tell me a friend of hers has a '94 ZX-6R for sale. I told her last night this wasn't going to stop me from riding again ASAP. I haven't even found out if my bike is a write-off yet! Nor would I EVER buy a Kawasaki after coming to the realization they're still 10+ years behind everyone else in tech. WTF is with their reluctance to electronic fuel injection? Carbs suck.......

Can't take pics of bike unless they bring it to my house or take pics for me. It's parked infront of my work. I have to wait for the insurance claims adjuster to get to it, to tell me if it's repairable. If theres any frame damage it will be a write off. I think it's repairable though, and they'll take care of that.

Well my motorcycle riding season ended abruptly this morning at 6:45am. I was only a few hundred yards from work, when some guy in a green neon decides to make a left hand turn infront of me, with a nice "I'll signal right as I go to make my turn". I was less than 100 feet from him, doing 50kph (The speed limit) when he attempts the turn and realizes I'm coming and he changes his mind.......stopping a few feet over the center line. I have 2 choices, swerve to the right and go around him or hit the brakes. Either way, I am going to need to do it FAST and I've got a 50/50 chance of going down as I have little room and it's raining pretty good at this point. All this running through my mind as he is still moving. I instantly decide "brakes", because if he doesn't stop moving and I try to head towards the shoulder and go around, I risk t-boning him. Well, it was raining and the road itself sucks (2-3 years of ongoing construction, has deteriorated the road infront of my work), so I wasn't overly angry at him. In dry conditions I would not have crashed, but regardless........he caused me to with his poor judgement. That center line is the point of no return! Once you're so far across it, you better keep going! If he had, I KNOW I could have made it around behind him with ease just by letting off the throttle. I managed to get slowed to I think about 30 when the bike came out from under me. I had barely grabbed any brake, but it was enough in the rain and crap road to do me in even though I was headed straight. It was a matter of a second or two and I was sliding face first down the road behind my bike, limp like a ragdoll. I laid on the ground for a minute, with some people around me asking if I was ok and if I needed an ambulance, before getting my wits back and getting up. I was fine, not a flocking scratch! My hands hurt, cause I think my right hand got trapped between the ground and the brake lever for a second as it hit the pavement. I managed to push myself away from the bike in that split second, keeping it from falling on me. After getting up and taking my helmet off, I realized I was in 1 piece and my gear was pretty messed up but had held up ok overall. Helmet did it's job, my head smacked the pavement pretty good and the right side of my visor is nothing but a blur of scratches. The police got there, and after talking to us (The driver had 2 passengers that confirmed out loud, he cut me off) and I filed my report, charged the driver with "Unsafe left turn" ($110 fine and 2 demerit points). I learned his insurance he had on him was expired, though I have yet to learn if it is just that he has not gotten a new slip yet or not. Either way, I'm covered entirely, but it sucks for him if he's uninsured as it's a $5000 fine! After pushing the bike down the road to my work, I parked it in the lot and that is where it sits until the claims adjuster gets to it. The front fairing and cover around the instrument cluster has a huge chunk out of the adjoining corner. My right signal is busted, my rear brake lever was bent under the exhaust pipe (I bent this back by hand just to get the bike to roll), my right pegs are totalled (Passenger was up, but still got smashed) and my exhaust has a nice 1" wide gouge all the way down it. The impact was so hard I think, it also popped the crash peg on the left handlebar right out. Other than that, it looks like minor paint/cosmetic damage, but I'm sure to want to know what shape the frame was in before I even think of getting on it once it's repaired. I went to the hospital a few hours later, after my entire right arm and shoulder started causing me serious pain. I can now barely move it, but nothing is broken. I landed right on my right arm/shoulder and rolled onto my front. Beyond that I escaped without a single scratch! Even my pants didn't have a rip in them, though I could have swore I had road-rash because they had actually gotten very hot and burned my skin above my knees. Next year, some protective pants........cargo pants don't quite do it. Hooray for gear! I pity the idiot that crashes in a t-shirt! My season may be done this year, but I'm not letting this keep me from getting back on the very first day I can next year! And I'm going to start fearing small cars as much as I do SUVs....... I constantly thought, I'm never going to crash because I don't ride like a moron. But sometimes things are entirely out of your control, and someone else does something to make you crash. Oh well, I learned something I think, I just don't know what it is yet because I was doing absolutely nothing wrong. The only thing I can think I could have done better, was braking, but with such a short distance between us and a soaking wet road........I don't think anything would have helped me. Here's pics of my helmet and jacket, none of the bike yet as it's sitting in the parking lot at my work. My boots are surprisingly still in great shape, with no sign of even having hit the ground.
