Ever wonder what it would be like to take a sledgehammer to a computer? I did it to my first PC, a Compaq Pentium 166. Compaq makes GARBAGE!

Video Gaming: The 7th Generation
ken_cinder replied to Devia Eleven's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Hmmm........nope. Neither Sega nor Atari have a clue how to design hardware that isn't overly complicated to develop for, have poor controls or some other fatal flaw. (Saturn hardware, Dreamcast controller. Atari's Jaguar) Theres a reason why they're dead in the water. The only other company I could see having the slightest chance, would be someone like NEC, and they'd need help from someone who knows what they're doing.........like teaming up with Namco or something. -
Answer this question pls for all Americans?
ken_cinder replied to L.S.D's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
That would be NORTH Americans, and the number would be 52.9%. -
I thought we had a policy on reporting on commercial emulators? I know I hate emu authors that profit from their work, it's IDENTICAL to pirate/clone hardware unless they're offering dev functions, like no$gba.

The obscenity of Australian gaming
ken_cinder replied to BlackKnight's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I won't re-iterate what I just said, but it encompasses pretty much everything. Exports are not key commerce for Europe, in stark contrast to Asia/North America. The more of something you can sell, the cheaper you can sell it for. It's obvious even where I work. Running 50000 feet of product is cheaper for us, than running 5000. This principle pretty much applies to everything. You also forget alot of stuff is Multi-5 or multi whatever, because of the many different languages over there. You think that translating comes free? I'm not niave though, there are cases where Europe is blatantly taken advantage of. Such as console hardware prices. There is NO WAY a US PS3 60GB model for $600 at launch, is reflective of increased shipping or even VAT at what, 450 pounds in the UK? Which is like $800~ You can't look at it head on that way though, as there is currency exchange dealings with the YEN, not the US Dollar. Here in Canada, certain things still cost more even with our stronger dollar. Why? Theres 300 million americans to our 33 million canadians -
The obscenity of Australian gaming
ken_cinder replied to BlackKnight's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
You have the VAT, and a HUGELY smaller market compared to North America and Japan. Demand doesn't outstrip supply 9/10 times like it does over here in North America. Then theres the fact it costs more to ship to Europe from JP/US than it does to do JPUS shipments. This isn't conceivably true of AustraliaJP, but the market there is so small in comparison, this isn't an issue. -
This isn't going to fly, it will set a bad precedent. Unless he was PROFITING from his piracy, there isn't much legal grounds for a jail term. Fines and whatnot sure, but jail time........how? Unless there was profit being made, I would blow a gasket if any judge delivered a sentence behind bars.

Here, translated from Czech. http://translate.google.ca/translate?u=htt...en&ie=UTF-8 Can easily say I find the art style disgusting.

I'm on a $600 ASUS right now, and I can play Crysis and Assasin's Creed at full speed on medium detail levels. Take that EEE btw why is this thread still rolling anyway?

Taito F3, with the Puzzle Bobble games (2-4), Bubble Memories + Bubble Bobble 2. Darius Gaiden, Gekirindan, Grid Seeker and Ray Force for shumps are good. Dungeon Magic is pretty good beat-em-up too. Space Invaders 95 is pretty fun as well. Helps that I'm a huge PB fan, and own an F3.

30fps is unplayable on any engine that isn't locked to 30fps or designed for 30fps to be it's "smooth" point. 60fps or more for me please.

How do I play TLOZTP on my Computer ?
ken_cinder replied to Wangtaitai's topic in Wii & GameCube Emulators [/pc/wii+gc]
First, those are a RAR archive library. Extract the first file, and you'll wind up with a file with the extension .gcm or .iso. (GCM is a disc image file, for Gamecube discs). As for playing it on your PC, not happening buddy. Gamecube emulation hasn't progressed enough for that game to be playable on ANY PC. -
While it makes me want to puke on one part, the other part of me say's "Restore it!" and sell it for lots of money. That thing has to be rare in such semi-decent condition. Sure, the ski is rusted, but you can clean that up and even get it chromed or plated. Here's one in better shape. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/29296...102903806wfaaey

I'm worried about an epidemic too, there have been so many viruses and diseases come out of asia in the last 5 years or so. Research suggests that THE PLAGUE (Yes, I said it) is lying dormant, and things like this as well as a growing state of general unsanitary living conditions in small villages in many countries may very well awaken it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Pandemic We're about due for another, given that the first "plague" was in 1300/1400s", the second was around the 1600s and then the Third Pandemic in the mid 1800s and ending in the early 1900s. What with all these wierd "flu's" and other things like SARS that can't be explained and truly diagnosed properly, I see another plague on it's way.

Blue is PAL flashrom, red is NTSC units. It all depends on the flashrom you use, the bios itself is the same across all systems. As for your problem, can't help, don't use an emulator to play my Dreamcast games for this kind of reason, the emulation is far from perfect yet.

Acquiring a computer programming job without a degree
ken_cinder replied to Alluminitti's topic in Nerd's Chatter [/nerds]
Your plans ARE unrealistic, there are already enough college grad programmers working at McDonalds as is. The likelyhood of you getting a job without college is very low. Too many people have gone through college/university for programming and other related courses, than are required thanks to the "IT" boom nearly a decade ago. And if you're unwilling to stick it out in school, no company is going to want you, you'll be unwilling to stick it out there as far as they're concerned. My advice, find something else you enjoy that isn't overpopulated x100 and go to school for it, program as a hobby and hope it leads somewhere, do NOT rely on programming as a career in this day and age, you're honestly only setting yourself up for disappointment. -
Beats of Rage: The Simpsons
ken_cinder replied to Tynvar's topic in DreamCast & Saturn Emulators [/pc/dc+saturn]
So to speak, but engine is based precisely on what the play on words name is, Streets of Rage.........it's more a Beat em Up engine. Just like any engine though, theres really no limit to what you can do (I have a mod for the original Unreal Tournament called Mattel Fighter Jets, you fly fighter jets.....) -
God.... who invented dial up
ken_cinder replied to Explosive Misanthropy's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Who invented these pre-broadband children? Blasphemy! I was using dialup before the internet existed, at 800bps. At least you're even getting kbps. And know the majority of the world still has no access to broadband in the first place (almost half of North America infact, rural areas only have expensive options like satellite that still uses dialup for upstream) I will concede that once you've had something better than dialup, that getting hit by a bus is more inviting than going back to dialup. -
Batman Begins was ASS, and never should have been made, at the very least not with who they cast as Batman (He's a HORRIBLE actor). As for better than Ironman in comic movies? Where? Yeah right. \ Fantastic 4 is a ridiculous Marvel IP in the first place, Hulk is a joke (So was the movie) and X-Men could have been FAR better given the decades of comic material to draw from. And how do you do better with The Punisher? There isn't much to that character, I'm rather surprised a movie was even do-able. P.S. The Crow used to be my fav movie, watch it again sometime. It's not as good as you remember it.

What about G5 users? They're PPC as well, or is there capability for easier interpretation of an x86/x86-64 binary on the G5 CPUs as opposed to

I started moving into my new house wednesday, and finished thursday. JUST got all my services hooked back up today, but alas.....I am without a desk, as I threw my old one out rather than drag it with me just to do that after buying a new one.

Blade Runner........again. No matter how "bland" the acting, I still find myself watching this movie every so often. Also watched Saw 4 the other night. Methinks the gore factor overshadowed the plot so much, that they forgot to actually make the plot cohesive and make f**king sense!

I have "RLS" if you want to get technical. My cure? Melatonin. Started taking 3mg capsules before bed, bingo....no more sporadic leg movements and better sleep. The RLS diagnosis is overrated and exaggerated, it's nothing more than a simple chemical lacking/overproduction. Melatonin is only produced when you're sleeping, or it's very dark. I don't get enough sleep and I'm constantly saturated by lighting of some kind......duh, go figure!
