  1. I could care less who was on-screen, if the gameplay is as heated as it is in the trailer, I'll give it a go. You could put the cast of Starfox in a Metal Gear game, and as long as it played awesome......I could care less.
  2. FYI retailer profit margins are less than 15%. A $50 piece of software may garner a retailer a $7-$8 profit. This is roughly the same in every industry. The distributor on the other hand, may make up to 25%. It's all relevant to costs, these may not fit 100% accurately with the games industry, but 50% is an enormous stretch.
  3. /me throws flare into middle I see this slowly turning into flamebait, just a reminder to keep things civil and "discuss". One bit of personal attacks and zis vill be clozed! Opinions are fine, but there is enough fanboyism in this thread already that I thought I was on the Maxconsole forums.
  4. No pics from MTV, and a RENDER of an existing controller from Kotaku. I don't doubt they're developing something similar to the Wiimote, but you can bet your ass it would be in house......they wouldn't pay an outsider to do it. Oh and not to mention, Kotaku is THE most disreputable place to use as a source for ANYTHING. I've slammed enough articles coming from Kotaku posted on Maxconsole's main page (Instantly disappearing) that it isn't funny. Kotaku = Big fat rumour mill And btw, Darwin is an existing controller. Kotaku screwed that one up large, and it's a key flaw in their article.
  5. I suggest you playback this on the monitor for awhile. While meant for fixing "stuck" pixels, it will rid you of any retention you may have (I've never encountered this, but theres nothing to say it can't happen). You may also have your contrast set too high. Try turning it down, and see how things are after a few days. Contrast set too high, can cause this sort of artifact as well in ANY display. Here is the video file, play it back in fullscreen for a good half hour or better yet, overnight if a short period of time doesn't help. - http://itasor.com/pixelmurder.MP4 Warning, may cause seizures! lol
  6. ADD and ADHD do not exist! If one were to listen to all teachers and doctors, 3/4 of the worlds population has 1 or the other, or both. You know what DOES exist? A lack of proper stimulation and enough activity in a persons life, especially that of children. MANY "Professionals" such as teachers, blame children's behaviors on these made up disorders, when the fault lies in a lack of many key things that would keep them from having what appears to be the attention span of a hummingbird.
  7. Quest 64 was NOT released as this "Holy Magic Century" you call it anywhere but in PAL regions. In US/JP regions it was called Quest 64. BTW, it sucked fierce ass too.
  8. You have already answered your own question. There has been NOTHING said for over 2 years infact. No official word on ports for either, but Sega had "planned" to........give Sonic time to rake in some cash, then look for something.
  9. A few of those are rather unusual resolutions. I use 1600x1200 on my desktop (4:3) and 1200x800 on my laptop (16:9).
  10. Is for tentacle hentai loving pedophilia, necrophilia loving people who belong in padded rooms. Nuff said.
  11. I live just outside of Barrie, Ontario. A good 4 hour drive from London depending on your speed/route of travel.
  12. Are we missing the point here? WHY WAS THE 7 YEAR OLD LEFT SLEEPING IN A CAR WITH NOBODY AROUND! They're lucky the tow truck driver brought him back, could have been some whacked out pedo. WTF is wrong with people these days? I wouldn't leave my daughter in the car while I ran back inside, alone.......
  13. I collect optical media based consoles that aren't emulated/well emulated (Only one I've done away with is the PS1, as ePSXe does a BETTER job than the real thing in 90% of cases), everything prior with the exception of the N64, I emulate. Having thousands of carts for older systems would take up so much room it isn't funny. I don't use PC emulators anymore for anything but MAME (In my cabinet) as Xbox emulators cover everything I play, and well.
  14. Yuck, how she manages to be fat in some places, and rail skinny in others I dunno. Seeing ribs and fat legs at the same time, is such a turnoff........so is being Casper pale. /me rewinds time and pretends he never saw
  15. In any country (Bar possibly the severely unfree USA of late) liscence agreements on hardware you OWN have no legal leg to stand on simply based on the fact that a tangible item you purchase in a retail setting and are not RENTING/BORROWING can not have imposed limitations on what you may do with said item within the scope of the law. (ie; you obviously can't buy a PS2, and turn it into a makeshift pipe bomb) Then theres the issue of privacy. No company can tell me I can't turn their item, into another item, unless I'm reselling this modified item. Doing so at a personal level, is invasion of privacy in it's most basic form. ie; I can turn my Xbox into a toaster if I want....GTFO.
  16. I started using Mandrake (WTF is with this Mandriva crap?) back at Mandrake 3, and I have to say it's by far the most versatile AND user friendly distro in existance. As with Windows, you can be a beginner or a power user and it will suit your needs. I btw, prefer KDE over Gnome by a long shot. KDE is far more friendly and easier to make it do what you want than Gnome is IMO. I'm still not going back to Linux in any way though, until game developers stop being sacks of $hit and start putting out *nix releases of games. The lack of support for anything but Windows disgusts me. There are only THREE mainstream devs that support Linux. Epic, ID and Vivendi (Well, I don't know about Vivendi NOW...but they were). Why is MS getting slapped with things like "anti-trust" when the game dev community is FAR more guilty of it? Wait a minute.....they both should be, with the closed platform that DirectX is!
  17. If it's not bloated with preinstalled crap, background programs eating stuff up and constantly accessing the hard drive, like most peoples computers......GREAT. I have lesser specs than that and run games at higher settings than most with "better" hardware than me. Just remember to not go with the uninformed norm of "higher resolution with medium detail" settings so many dumbasses stick to. You crank the detail level, and then the resolution from there. No sense running something like 1600x1200 with halved textures, the game will look WORSE than a lower resolution with full resolution textures, proven fact.
  18. While it sucks, she is entitled to and OBLIGATED to sue. If she doesn't, it sets a legal precedent with regards to her intellectual property rights and any trademarks/copyrights she has on anything CAN become null and void if she fails to at least act on this. There is however no reason she cannot give permission to use these rights on a one time basis for the purpose of this book. But that may still happen. Filing a motion is alot different than actually pursuing a lawsuit. Some people need to wake up....and go to school.
  19. Ya that is if you accidentally change you CMOS settings. But if you pull the battery and leave it out for any length of time all is lost. Backup and all. Hate to break it to you, but this is entirely untrue. I've run boards all the way back to 286s with no battery even installed, the ONLY thing that happens is it won't hold time/date or anything but default settings. Resulting in having to "setup" every time the power is off. Hell the CMOS is nothing more than a GATE, to some type of flash. In a PC motherboard, usually EEPROM. In something like a portable device (PSP, tabletPC).....NAND. The bios merely checks CMOS for user settings and if none exist, reverts to it's defaults (And usually, saves a copy of these in CMOS even at default). Now back to the problem at hand. You fed a device that is powered off 5v USB, an external power source of at least equal. Have you checked the device in another machine? If it's dead, it's a good bet you've killed whatever bus is responsible for handling interrupts between "PCI" devices, which would also explain nothing booting from any drive. A good rule to follow, is that if a device can be USB powered, NEVER feed it external power at the same time. NEVER!
  20. I heard VIA mentioned in context with NvIdia.........I smell certain doom and death for NvIdia.
  21. I have a hard drive in my PS2, loading games from a hard drive is preposterous to me. I don't do it on my Xbox either. There are compatibility issues, as well as DVD media being dirt cheap compared to installing a hard drive large enough for the 100+ titles I have for each system. Hard drives on either for emulators/roms etc, I stream movies over my network. Using a hard drive to store games for the system makes absolutely no sense. I can buy 250 DVDs for $100. Find me a hard drive for $100 that could store 250 DVD5 games....
  22. Hmmm 25 single layer DVD at $10 CAD for 4.36GBx25=109GB or a single 25GB Blu-Ray disc for roughly $25. I wonder........nope, I don't cause I'm not that stupid.
