Visual Boy Advance needs your help!
ken_cinder replied to MasterPhW's topic in Other Emulators [/pc/other]
Robert, your sound distortion is probably the lack of a Bios. I know with the Metroid games, a Bios is required for proper sound. -
You fail. While I'll admit, pre-x86 Mac's were great for things that required raw horsepower (Video editing, graphic/3d design), OSX is ass and any flavor of Linux superceeds it, making your Mac of today nothing but a PC with a Windows-wannabe Unix OS that does a miserable job. Oh and the Ipod is an overpriced f**king fad, nothing more.

The reason Epic put all that story crap is because a vast majority of players never played multiplayer. TEH SO WRONG! The reason there's a story to the UT games (Moreso than the first one) is because it's an off-shoot of Unreal, a game (games) that really do have a story to them. I welcome a story, and I haven't played MP since 2K3, I'm so sick of the repetitive nature of MP FPS, and the games seem to be getting more unbalanced with every new title.

I refuse to include any sort of IE hack in anything I do/work with, I even removed the table hack in IPB 1.3 on my board so the tables wouldn't spill over the sides. I did however fix it properly regardless, but it still doesn't display right in IE6. Screw IE, it's an "HTML Renderer" not a browser, the W3 says so.

Your computer is an HP (I'd assume, as this motherboard was produced strictly for them) with an Asus M2N68-LA motherboard, that TV tuner is sitting in a x1 slot........the black slot is a x16 slot, and your new video card would go in there. SLI is not an option for you with that motherboard, you need two x16 slots on an SLI capable motherboard. Not to mention I highly doubt the power supply in that box could handle it either.

Sinking pretty low now aren't we? It's a $5 difference on 2 pads that only have a wired/wireless difference. You should be able to decide entirely yourself don't you think?

Opinion speaking here, but if you're any kind of PC gamer.......you wouldn't use an LCD display, CRT's are simply better. Too bad CRT HDTV's are disgustingly expensive, or I wouldn't own an LCD.

Windows comes with one.......has since ME. Just click on VIEW and switch to Scientific.

Codec packs cause conflicts and issues, do install those separate codecs. I'll never used those codec packs and I only have a few codecs installed, and I have yet to run into a video I couldn't play. Mind you I also won't touch video types I know to be of poor quality etc, ie; Real Media or other proprietary junk. When you install those codec packs, you don't know what you're getting, and they've been used to spread lots of nasty things too. Only once did I ever try using one, and it completely screwed my MP3 playback capabilities.

My dvd drive won't ready any dvd data discs.
ken_cinder replied to SF2MJ's topic in Nerd's Chatter [/nerds]
Huh? That's a crock, any DVD-RAM drive will support DVD formats PERIOD. DVD-RAM is an on-the-fly recording standard, and standalone home DVD-RAM recorders also read DVD movies. The ONLY issue there could be here, is that he's using +R/RW discs, and the drive doesn't support those. Normal pressed discs and -R's should work fine. This is probably a chipset driver issue otherwise, I'm willing to bet $100 his PC is running a VIA chipset of some type if that's the case, as this kind of thing is a VERY well documented issue, especially with regards to SATA devices/chipsets. -
If I see anyone recommending to download one of these Mega Codec packs again, I'll freak out and ban the world. Codec packs are a f**king plague! DO NOT recommend them, and furthermore......DO NOT use them!

Something tells me games like World of Warcraft etc, aren't big on filling VRAM with loads of high res textures. As far as I'm concerned, the reviewers at HardOCP are talking out of their asses there as GPU performance has little bearing on how many/how much textures get loaded into RAM. If you're running the game at some supr high resolution, but with low details (Smaller textures etc) you are simply an idiot. Anyone with a brain knows a lower resolution with higher detail settings are better, you crank the resolution from there.

I'd go with the standard 512MB 8600GTS you pointed out, you're only saving like $20 by going with a 256MB card, and spending more for the Superclocked one isn't worth it apparently.

you guys still virgins? how did you lose it?
ken_cinder replied to SuperSoaka420's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
For an educated man, that's some pretty craptastic grammar! Since when do you pluralize a noun ending with a vowel, by using another vowel and an S? Shame on you. Oh and some of you are still virgins no matter, because it's quite obvious you've never SATISFIED a woman, which is so sickeningly apparent by the lack of intelligence. And I'm the most famous porn star in the world. I hate my wife for this, she tells me I should be, then tells me I can't be. FFS -
what type of videos can the PSP play
ken_cinder replied to Ryuken's topic in PSP and Vita Hacks [/psp]
You're going to let the fact you download Really Crappy Media Player files and don't want to convert them, keep you from buying a PSP? You have other issues in that case, Real Media is garbage. -
Quality SNES and GBA RPG's
ken_cinder replied to Fatal Rose's topic in NES & SNES Emulators [/pc/nes+snes]
I feel a serious lack of drive to start thinking of titles, but you MUST play Tecmo's Secret of The Stars on SNES. This is one of my fav RPGs ever. -
Most hateful things someone has said/done to you online
ken_cinder replied to Fatal Rose's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
To get on topic here........nothing. Why in the hell would something anyone online said to me, even make me think twice about it? NOBODY I have met online has any sort of ties to me that could possibly allow them to offend me. -
He is not alone in any of them, and would not state which one he was either. All 3 pictures are NULL.

xport emulators updated and source released!
ken_cinder replied to fumanchu's topic in XBOX Hacks [/xbox]
Go learn something before getting snotty with a fellow member then, there is this FREE LEGAL DEVKIT SOFTWARE.........it's called OPENXDK. And yes, they use the MS SDK, but the sources don't include it and aren't binaries so you should be in the clear with regards to those........I think. -
Drivers are the software that "drive" your hardware, without them your hardware and your OS don't know how to communicate with eachother. If your OS doesn't know how to tell your soundcard to play sound on the rear channel for instance, you won't hear anything. Think of drivers like you would a phone number written on a piece of paper, with instructions to tell the person on the other end. The drivers point other hardware and/or your OS to the hardware in question, and tell it "how" to talk to it. As for permanently benefiting the hardware, it's just like anything else, there can be errors. Something may be optimized to communicate more efficiently with one part of the hardware, but wind up making things worse with another part. Like any software. For instance, I can't use the latest drivers for my WiFi cards on either of my PCs, they cause a BSOD. I really don't know how to simplify this, and put it in proper perspective........at least not better than this.
