  1. Did I actually just read that retarded crap? I installed a 3 way, center-off toggle switch on my drive, and powered it via one of the front USB ports. No more cog tool or any sort of ugly-ass flip top for me! Down on switch, open drive. Up to close. Tap my eject switch twice to make the PS2 think I've opened and closed the drive when I want a TOC refresh!
  2. Psst, has nothing to do with any settings, it's a 1.6 Xbox Video Encoder issue with 480p. XPort simply hasn't updated those emulators to work around it (And any other emulators from other authors that are older, will suffer the same). You simply need to use 720p or higher, no need to disable 480p in the dash, and you can set it in the INI file under saves in the E drive for each emulator, it's a certain value regarding "videomode" I think (Can't remember right now). As for non-Xport emulators, dunno. P.S. MednafenX_NES is FAR better than the very outdated FCEUltraX. If you're getting a scrambled image in 720p, it's a bug in FCEUltraX, no other emulator I know has a problem in 720p.
  3. You can do that, the gamesave installer way. I'm used to hotswap/new drive with XboxHDM though. If you have FTP access, you can do it either way. Creating the install on your PC with the retail C files and then copying, or going the gamesave route.
  4. First, DVD2Xbox is for dumping games to the hard drive and running them from there. If you want to make a successful backup to DVD, you'll need to use a layout file and the appropriate program (I forget what it's called, you'll find it on XS) for best results, as if the disc isn't laid out similar to the original, you're likely to get DRE's. As for fixing your dash issue, if you can FTP in, just copy your files back over. Get ahold of a retail C from something like a Slayer's disc, and patch the files running the NDURE setup again. Then just copy your patched files over by FTP to the C drive and E\dash. Once booted, none of those files are "in use" like system files on a Windows box.
  5. My parents never restricted my gaming, infact my mother bought my NES and paid for half my SNES. After that I bought my own stuff. Of course my habit became just that, and when I bought my Gamecube I came home with it and my mother was like "Oh not another system, what did you buy that for?", until I fired up Metroid Prime and she was in awe at how good it looked and played. It was the same as when I bought my Dreamcast, until I popped Samba De Amigo in and I couldn't get the controller out of her hands! I encourage my daughter to play video games with me, even if she can't really do it too well at 2-1/2. It promotes hand-eye coordination, problem solving skills and brain stimulation. Too much however can interfere with the rest of your life........my 48+ hour Rainbow Six - Rogue Spear stints online were proof of that, with me often getting no sleep over the course of a weekend. Still made it to work though.
  6. For reference to other posters, THAT was a worthwhile "Evil bump". Bumping a year old topic to say "Yeah, I know" gets you in trouble. Too bad I don't care for FCEUltra.
  7. I have to admit that I'm surprised, too. I haven't said anything because I happen to agree with you. I'll put my chips in on that too, though I have to admit I enjoyed HL2. Previous to that however, I thought the games were horrible. Was a Rainbow Six player then.
  8. Zelda...... Metroid..... Oh and I believe the direction of this topic was SERIES', not individual games. I'd have to say Halo. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing them.....but MEH. They're not groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination, the only thing that could even be construed as "great" when it comes to Halo is that it's one of the better handling console FPS'.
  9. I just bought Mooney's EFA-Linker 256Mbit, so this thread is finished.
  10. I roll my eyes at everyones lack of experience, education and worst of all, common sense and decency. You are all making yourselves look like idiots, the lot of you.
  11. Well aware of the 8/1 Mb/MB thing, just wasn't thinking when it came to that. And by 256+ I meant 256 or more, not in addition to SD lol I'm pretty interested in your unit, I've read up on it and it should be enough for what I'd need. I don't think there are any games larger than 128MBit that I'd want to play. Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission will fit on it, anything else that could possibly not fit is sort of an "Oh well" as far as I'm concerned, I'll just play em on my PC/Xbox. I'll PM you with my address so you can find out how much it will cost you to ship, as well as any other stuff that the rest of the world need not be involved in.
  12. The M3 Perfect SD is very costly at $75, what about the Supercard SD, which seems to go for around $44? An SD solution isn't mandatory here, I just figured it would be easiest and cheapest. Which doesn't seem to be the case entirely, and the largest SD card I have is 256MB so I guess I could go with a 256MB+ solid state FC if it makes more sense. What do you recommend for a 256MB+ card that won't run me more than a Supercard SD? And what are you looking to get for your EFA? I don't want to spend a ton of money here, I only need the ability to fire up a game (Even if I can only put 1 on at a time, I don't care) and run some emulators.
  13. Topic says it all, I just picked up a GBA and I'm wondering what flash cart solution I should use. Here are my needs (Or rather wants, as I'm not sure if these are all possible). 1: Only need a cart big enough to hold the largest game available. I don't need a cart capable of holding dozens of games at once, though that would be nice if the price isn't much more than a small cart. 2: Want a solution able to run original Gameboy\Gameboy Color games. Is this even possible or will I require an emulator? 3: If I require an emulator for #2, something well suited for homebrew. Are there solutions that make use of SD cards? Not mini or micro SD, I don't own and will not purchase those. Also, off-topic.......why the hell am I a moderator for the handheld forum? I haven't owned a handheld since the original Gameboy!
  14. I think 1 point of confusion here (By posters and/or topic starter) is the difference between a Gentlemen's Club and a Strip Joint. A Gentlemen's Club requires membership, has a drink minimum and usually a dress code. Only the finest women are allowed to work here, and quite often double as "escorts". Quite often as well, you must possess a certain status to obtain membership in the first place. A strip joint on the other hand, will take whatever they can get for employees, almost never has a dress code and very rarely has a drink minimum that is anything more than spoken rule. You also don't require a membership. Either way, I refuse to spend money on looking or even otherwise. I won't pay for it, ever. Never been to either, probably never will.
  15. The US patent office needs SERIOUS reform, and people who file suit/complaints based on generalized patents should be dragged into the center of a town/city and shot in the head. Patents are there to protect real ideas, not for exploitation in vague terms.
  16. I'm going to have to remove that link, but for anyone wanting the non-rom material there just google VIMM
  17. All we have to do is mass slaughter every idiot that continues to buy into the EA Sports crap every year. You know, those people who own Madden 95-08, NHL 95-08 and every other single sports game EA has released. I play all the NHL games, but I only actually own 2 of them. I'll be DAMNED if I fork over $60+ every year for what is essentially the same game with minor changes. Too bad 2K Sports doesn't do PC or I'd give them a shot.
  18. I meet the recommended, just too bad I think my video card died on me. I picked up an X600 SE on Ebay for $20, to test and save as a backup. If my X1650 Pro died on me, Sapphire better play nice (I hear their RMA process is a pain in the ass, costs you like $20 in "Admin" fees and takes ages) or I'm NEVER buying another product they make again.
  19. /me pimp slaps the price and forced bundling of adapters that would otherwise lower the price. What if I don't want all those adapters? Why should I pay for them. Also, there is no need for a digital stick in addition to 2 analog sticks, there are dual mode sticks out there. Put a dual mode on the left stick, voila. This would also lower the price, even if not by a significant amount. P.S. The "clicking" in joysticks, is due to the use of cherry microswitches. I prefer to hear that click, and know that my switches are still in good working order. No click, me need new switch. P.S.S. The crack in the unit looks like it has been dropped on that corner, with the T-Moulding saving impact damage to the corner, but cracking the wood on the side. FN: Optional adapters, dual mode sticks and no pressure sensitive buttons (I'm sorry, but GTFO......nobody uses them on current or past consoles, they just don't work as intended!) would lower the price enough to make this unit far more attractive than the Tankstick.
  20. Look out your front window. OH SHI I'd drive 200 miles just to knock on your door for holloween. I live about 64 miles north of downtown Toronto according to Mapquest (Starting on University Ave.) How close, and whatcha wearing for a costume? My daughter is going as a puppy.
  21. You mean this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toQGIlShZvc
  22. yes, people still enjoy supporting developers and their hard work... I did too, till I got to buying games and realizing that the reviews and video clips I watched made the game out to be more than they were. My retail PC collection alone totals over 300 titles. Got sick of forking over $50-$70 a game, for what 9 out of 10 times turned out to be utter trash. Haven't encountered a game since UT2003 (Last PC game I actually paid for) that was worth my money and wasn't shovelware. When game devs can start putting out titles that actually make me want to pay, I will.
