It's Microsoft, there are BETTER and FREE alternatives to EVERYTHING they make with regards to software. Right from Windows > Linux, to Office > OpenOffice.

I meet the recommended requirements for Lost Planet except for the video card, I have a 512MB X1650 Pro (Which is above the minimum) and the Lost Planet demo runs like ASS. Turning everything down, it still won't get above 16 fps, and I keep getting that annoying message popping up. Capcom's PC titles are usually very badly done when ported.

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...em=180132406134 Weeeeee! I'm a huge Bubble Bobble fan, and PB is one of my favorite games. Normally this would go for somewhere in the $200 realm........I had to have it! Now I just need a new set of roms for my Double Dragon board, or an EEPROM writer to reprogram the ones I have (Me bad, borked one of the roms a bit)

You don't need a router, AP or anything with 2 laptops with 802.11 wireless, they can connect "Ad-Hoc" without any such hardware needed. That's the point of wireless built into laptops, the need for nothing else. Bluetooth is an entirely different technology, and you'll need what Jitway told you. If you have this "know" that your laptop has built-in bluetooth, tell us your laptop make/model so we can confirm/disprove it for you.

Wireless G is not bluetooth. Nor are the 2 compatible.
-
Depends entirely on what the phone is capable of via bluetooth. Most simply have the ability to use accessories via bluetooth, like headsets. Better look up the capabilities, just because it has bluetooth, doesn't mean you can connect with a PC and transfer anything at all. "Bluetooth" is nothing more than a wireless standard, not a program or anything of the such.

See now that I can appreciate, I wouldn't give her a 10, but she's up there.

Seems like a good deal, but then again I don't know what you truly have under the hood (Motherboard, actual brand/revision video card, type/brand RAM). I've spent roughly $600 on mine so far, and that's only for the motherboard, CPU, RAM, PSU and a video card. But I refuse to bottom dollar my bones. Asus M2R32-MVP - http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=101&l3=328 AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2x1GB A-Data PC6400 DDR2 Sapphire ATi Radeon x1650 Pro 512MB Cooler Master eXtreme 500W ATX 2.1 PSU Total = $582.74 I just hope for your sake, you got a decent motherboard without a crappy chipset on it (Like VIA), I'd hate to see you have hardware compatibility issues after spending that kind of money.

See, this is why you fix things right away, so they don't come back and bite you in the ass......or the TV. And also why most people's mother's tell them not to throw things in the house!

Voice chat in games -- a good thing?
ken_cinder replied to Sultan's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I don't like hearing other people blab while I'm playing, and even in a fast paced FPS like UT games, it's not hard to throw out a quick text message. I guess for people who have a VERY hard time playing a game, and typing (Those with pathetic typing and grammar skills) voice chat is the way to go. I've tried it with Tactical FPS like the Rainbow Six games, and quite frankly I find it useless there too. Tactical FPS plays slower than other shooters, so typing is NOT a big deal at all and I can be clearer with typed words than speaking on the fly. -
Given that I don't own a new console now, but I have a new PC, all mine are PC titles I await. Lost Planet: Extreme Condition BlackSite: Area 51 Unreal Tournament 3 Mercenaries 2: World in Flames (I can't believe this is coming out on PC, by the looks of it I'll have no reason to buy any console if this stuff keeps up) And even though I said I'd never go near Vista, I think I'll be dual booting it for the games I want to play, and otherwise sticking to XP. I MUST play Crysis, in it's DX10 form (Be upgrading my video cards at that point)

Trust me, you're better off throwing it in the garbage. Anywhere you take it, a replacement screen will cost you more than buying a whole TV new, it's been that way since the dawn of the televisions. Reason being, selling an individual unit costs more than selling 1000 of them. Then, if you aren't going to do the work yourself, add that cost on. I would do you the favour of purchasing the backlight and logic board from you however. I do alot of wierd things and my wife would *sarcasm on* love another thing laying around. *sarcasm off* Otherwise I would suggest Ebaying it as a parts unit. Oh yeah, and I call "Wiimote" on you. The impact mark on the screen fits the Wiimote profile to a T!

Plagiarism on "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time"
ken_cinder replied to mai's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
No, it's about a Russian book that has it's story based on the Zelda games story, that they believe to be in poor taste. But again, who cares? DON'T READ IT FFS! I love (not) these kinds of things, don't people have lives? If you don't like it, close your eyes and shut your mouth. lol -
Official 1emu silkroad online guild name?
ken_cinder replied to Rawrthness's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I hate seeing long guild names, so I voted 1Emu. Do you have the cash to start a guild? It's like half a million isn't it? -
1GB ATi Radeon X2900XT Released
ken_cinder replied to Shibathedog's topic in Nerd's Chatter [/nerds]
It's not far from 720p, which as far as I'm concerned is where the buck stops with displays under 50 inches. (With PC possible resolutions, 36") Over that you MAY be able to see what something like 1080p has to offer (720p looks better than 1080i IMO). I have a 19" PC monitor, resolutions of any higher give no real noticeable difference, especially when I'm moving around in a fast paced game. And I don't know about you, but I don't stand still for minutes on end in ANY game. If I hooked it up to my 32" widescreen HDTV, I'd probably notice a larger difference. -
1GB ATi Radeon X2900XT Released

Unless it sports a faster/larger general bus and ring bus, these "upgrades" will be worthless. Quite frankly, I don't see the point in this anyway. I'm running Oblivion at 1024x768 with details on MAX (Even INI tweaks to bring things up a notch) on my single x1650 512MB, and I plan on adding a 2nd card in Crossfire soon. I can't see a use for a card like that, not until a couple years from now. Then again, if you have a bloated to hell off the shelf PC, I guess you might need the extra horsepower to compensate for the luggage your system drags around with it in the background. -
CPS-3 Encryption Broken and Partially Emulated!
ken_cinder replied to iq_132's topic in Emulator Releases [/emu]
I think some old dumps I had were 80-240Mb? The games came on CD so there's at least an upper limit for ya. As for the Hyper NeoGeo64, it had 6 games. Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition Samurai Shodown 64 Buriki-One Road's Edge Off-Beat Racer Beat Busters Oh and on that boot-up screen, it's cute that it uses the same format as the CPS-1 and -2 screens. I've seen them so often that it'll be a royal kick to see 3rd Strike's when I load it up for the first time. Whenever that day comes. Ahem, I didn't say CPS3 had less games than the Neo 64 for no reason. You missed 1. Beast Busters: Second Nightmare Buriki One Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition / Garou Densetsu: Wild Ambition Road Edge / Round Trip RV Samurai Shodown 64 / Samurai Spirits: Samurai Tamashii Samurai Shodown Warriors Rage / Samurai Spirits 2: Asura Zanmaden Xtreme Rally / Off Beat Racer Count em, 7. -
No, S-Video requires R/G/B + C-Sync, the VGA spec doesn't provide C-Sync, and S-Video doesn't use RGB straight up, theres Chroma and Luminance. You'd have to build a circuit that takes the H+V syncs from the VGA and turns them into C-Sync, PLUS S-Video (On your TV) is a 15khz signal, VGA is 30khz. Simply put, no.
