Heh... I'd say it's a relative term. No anime is really mainstream in the USA or most other countries, with maybe the exception of Pokemon. By "mainstream" they are referring to what is actually aired on Cartoon Network... even if it is generally late at night. That's more mainstream than most other anime, but not truly mainstream in the same way that a show like CSI is mainstream.

I know. I'm saying that I doubt the military has a bunch EMP weapons similar to the one in Ocean's Eleven. The only other way to get a large EMP blast is with nukes, which are really just not a good idea due to the radiation.
-
First, I doubt the military has a bunch of EMP type weapons. Second, they couldn't just set off a bunch of nukes to create EMP blasts without killing themselves... humans are not immune to radiation.

Well, Vermillion sent me his ini files and now everything is working fine. Still no idea why my FBAXXX only created 1 ini file... oh well.
-
Anybody want to e-mail me their ini files? I don't know why mine only has one.
-
Not in mine. I have the ini folder, but inside there is only 1 ini file: fbax2.ini

I need help with this version of FBAx. I can't figure out how to point the emulator to a different ROMs folder. I've tried adding the ROM path text from FBAx into the ini (fbax2.ini) for this emulator, but that didn't work. Can the rom path for this emulator be changed?

What are you supposed to do with the cdi files?

My XBOX has a Thomson. It reads both DVD+R and DVD-R. I've had experience with all the drives since most of my have modded XBOXs and I'm the only one with a DVD burner. None of my friend's XBOXs have (they all have Philips or Samsung) been able to read DVD+R. But it just could be the brands I've used. Every XBOX I've encountered reads DVD-R. The Thomson reads virtually everything except CDR, but it's also the most likely to die. Fortunately, since I have a huge HDD, my drive rarely has to do any work.

I want to point out that this is April Fools Day. This could be a joke.

No, you are not going back far enough. Sega's downfall started with the Sega CD and 32x. Both were doomed to fail because they were add-ons and they had crap advertising to boot. Then came the Saturn. It came out with very little advertising. I didn't even know the thing was out for a while. Then add on top the ridiculous $400 USD price tag and you have another total failure. Then comes the PSX (now called PSOne). Excellent system with plenty of games in every conceivable genre. Then the DC comes along (yes, I skipped the N64). It was a well made system with some great games, but the public didn't give a damn anymore. Their confidence in Sega was ruined by the Sega CD, 32x, and Saturn. Sony, on the other hand, had rightfully earned the public trust with the PSOne. Sony revitalized the entire industry with that machine. So, naturally, the DC was doomed by the PS2 hype. Sony had earned the hype, Sega had not. Sad but true. The PS2 started off slowly, but it has proven to be a worthy system over the long haul. Sony will win lead the next generation too because of the PS2.

Silent Hill. Games like Resident Evil rely primarily on jump-out-at-you type scare tactics (i.e. monsters crashing through windows). It works when your not expecting it, but I find games like Silent Hill that use a lot more of a psychological scare more disturbing. Silent Hill uses a lot of disturbing images and creepy sounds/music to scare you. BTW, I love the video for the upcoming Silent Hill game... looks very creepy.

More Annoying Xbox Modding Questions! Woo!
Thraxen replied to Shibathedog's topic in XBOX Hacks [/xbox]
Yes you can. Find a program called X2 BIOS Manager. It allows you to make 1 MB BIOS files. Basically, you will end up having two copies of the same BIOS in each 512 bank. If you want to use two different BIOS' on a chip with two 512 KB banks you just put the same BIOS in the first two slots in X2 BIOS Manager and another BIOS twice in the last two slots. Yes, that is the newest X2 BIOS. -
OK... if the ROM is in the "roms" folder inside your FBAx directory you do not have to change your path. You should just leave it as D:\roms Pretty much all XBOX apps use relative paths... so D: is actually the directory that your default.xbe was launched from. You should be able to change it to E: and have it work, but it's usually best to just leave it as D:. Now, if you are using a ROMs folder that is not in the same directory as the default.xbe, then you do need to change the ini. So are you doing like Prican and pointing FBAx to a ROMs folder outside of the FBAx directory? Or are you just using the default roms folder inside the FBAx directory?

I may get it... i was very heavy into the original UT. Spent a couple of years playing in clans. Took waaaay too much of my time. Our clan held weekly practices and even had a document that laid out everyone's assigned positions on each board based on everyone's strengths and weapons preferences. I had to print that thing out before every clan match and review it before every board just so I could remember my assigned posts. My clan was primarily Assault, so I didn't get into 2003 that much. Someone did make an Assault mod, but it came out about the same time that 2004 featuring the return of Assault was announced, so it never took off. So on one hand I'm really tempted to get the game, but on the other I'm not sure I want to risk the addiction. I would literally start playing when I got home from work and play to the early hours of the morning.... if it was a Friday, the sun would be rising the next morning before I would stop.

Try this... go here: Download the files that say "not encrypted" for KoF99 and KoF2000. The downloads only contain the P ROMs, so it won't take long. Use those P ROMS to replace the P ROMS in your sets. Then rename all your files to match the file names of my sets (see the pictures in my previous post). I think that will solve your problem.
-
It looks like you have the wrong ROM sets. My files are mostly named differently. Also, in both cases, your P2 is bigger than the ones I'm using. My kof99nd also doesn't have these two files: 251-sma.ka = 256KB 251-sma.kc = 256KB I'm not even sure what those files are for. Click these links to see pics of my ROM sets: kof99nd kof2knd Like I said earlier, I can transfer my working to you if you need me too... either through AIM, IRC, or if you set up an FTP I can transfer them there.
-
I'm stumped. When I use those two games I can enter the Hardware Test mode, but just selecting "Reset Rom" returns the ROM to normal for me. Hey, did you try what Likklebaer said over on the XBox-Scene forums? "Check your romset is named correctly. If you still have the filename of kof2000.zip then Kawa-X will try and load it as the encrypted version. The decrypted romset needs to be called kof2knd.zip" Like he said, check the names of your ROMs. If your KoF99 is named "kof99.zip", then change it to "kof99nd.zip". If your KoF2000 is named "kof2000.zip", then change it to "kof2knd.zip
-
Did you try the neogeo.zip that I linked to in my previous post? It seems that if two of your ROMs are acting the same way then it might be an issue with your neogeo.zip since they would both be using those files. Let us know if that works or not... if not then we can start thinking about another way to fix the issue.
-
Yeah, go to any folder on your PC. At the top go into the "Tools" menu and then select "Folder Options". Then select the "View" tab. Find the line that says "Hide extensions for known file types" and uncheck that box. This way you will be able to see and edit file extensions. Right now your PC is hiding the extension in the name, so when you went to put the ".rom" you weren't actually changing the ".bin" extension... it was still there, you just couldn't see it. As for your KoF2000 problem, maybe it's some sort of BIOS issue. This is the neogeo.zip that I use: neogeo.zip Try replacing the one you are using now with that one and see if the game runs normally.
-
Yes, it can play those games. KawaX-Hex can as well. You can get that here: But Kawa-Hex does not play KoF2003, but it's just another options that's out there. I personally prefer KawaX for most games since FBAx seems a bit slow to me in some games, but others prefer FBAx. It could just be my imagination though
-
You can usually just rename the extension and it will work. Hmm.. not sure. Hmmm... you may have a different sized M ROM than it's expecting. Try this one: 262-m1d If you can't get the KoF2000 (or any of the others) working, PM me on AIM and I can transfer my working ROMs to you... or maybe someone else will know of a place to download.
-
OK... you need N3oGhost's compile of FBAx. Since the links in the main thread seem to be dead, I've uploaded the file to my own web space. You can get it here: When you open the file you will see a folder called "KoF2K3 P-ROM". Take that P-ROM file and use it in place of the P roms you have in your MAME KoF2K3. Now, name your KoF2003 ROM as "kof2003f.zip" and put it in the FBAx "Roms" folder. That's it. I'm assuming you know how to run the emulator from there... if not, let us know.
-
I agree. What's the point of having the larger ROMS taking up space on your HDD when you can use the smaller decrypted sets AND not have to wait for the decryption to take place? I think most people would obviously prefer to use the decrypted sets as there is no advantage (that I can see) to use the others.

SF2MJ Do you know how to access the XBINS FTP?
