Man Dies After 350 Coins In His Belly!!
ovalprocess replied to Alpha's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
lol now theres an image i could have done without. ::shudder:: -
after reading captain fuku's very interesting article, i honestly think that arcade owners are what killed the american arcade. i mean, japan has outrageous console sales and yet arcades remain popular. so, in light of this discovery, i am going to work towards opening an arcade aimed at the 18-30 crowd. with the right marketing, it could really work.

no. i just want to move somewhere were the pace is slower and people arent flocking crazy.

phoenix, AZ although i'd much rather be in seville... <sigh>

my apologies. sometimes i assume that everyone scours the forum like i do, but still, your answer was one post above yours.

lol!!! i guess thats when the lazy folk turn to cam-whores. i have a modded xbox, so i basically dont pay for any of the games for it. for a long time i didnt finish any of them, but i really think its because i got burned out. when you get to play absolutely everything, good and bad, they all start to seem the same. stale. until last weekend, that is. i found a japanese copy of Breakdown, and man, its a refreshing experience. if none of you have the means to get the import rip, get it when it comes to the states. i imagine it'll get poor reviews, but trust me, its quite good. edit: also, when the games are free, theres no need to find a sense of value in them. when you pay 50$ for a new game, you'll play it to the end just to feel like you got your moneys worth (sometimes even if its a terrible, terrible game). in that respect, i look at piracy as a sort of free rental service. i usually play a game once of twice, and if it doesnt grab me, then it goes bye-bye (which means that 99% of games go out the window).

what about the nostalgic experience? sure you can sit on your couch and play any classic arcade game on your console, but its for sure not the same. what we need are arcades with nothing but purely classic games. not only would the games be more entertaining, but they would skew towards an older audience. that means no more playing against 15 yr olds. this is the sort of thing ive been tossing around in my head for awhile now. im just not so sure how commercially viable it is today considering that everytime i say to one of my friends "we should go do something", i get the response "ive got a big screen tv, 3 consoles, and a pc... why should i go anywhere?". to tell you the truth, thats a good flocking question. edit: i didnt even see your last post when i wrote that second paragraph. weird. edit 2: i think you are mistaken about the piracy thing tho, i dont think its an issue of laziness, its an issue of being cheap. i mean, who doesnt want everything for free? especially when you can have your movies, games, music, software... EVERYTHING that entertains us for free...

yeah, that sucks. even at my house, i have to massage egos just to keep people playing against me. it amazes me how much people hate to lose. to me, win or lose doesnt matter, i just love to play. if anyone wants to give me some venture capital, i'll start an arcade.

we have a jillians here in phoenix too, but i seriously hate that place. its filled with drunken yuppies who only really care to play video bowling or that sega karting game. if i go to jillians and play capcom v. snk 2, all the challengers walk away after i win a couple rounds. no one here is any good at the games. when i go to an arcade, i want to play fighting games against other people. i dont want to play newbies who get frustrated and walk away after 2 losses. i dont want to be stuck playing piss poor capcom games like sf, cvs2, and mvc2. if there were any decent arcades here, i'd be there. as it stands i'll settle for my mame cabinet and hopefully pick up an atomiswave setup once they come to the states.

An interesting reading for SNK's fans

dont you have the games already? why pay for them if its obvious that neither SNK nor sony want your money that badly. -

Whats with "segasonic the hedgehog"?
ovalprocess replied to random guy's topic in Arcade Emulators [/pc/arcade]
maybe im missing something. i tried to play this game last night using an arcade joystick, and as such it does not play very well. sonic doesnt spin, he runs hella slow, and his jump is tiny. maybe i'll try the trick using the mouse... -
Lots of those old games are really fun. Simple games to play when you've got nothing to do. Have you ever played Bagman??? right on. the only people who make disparaging comments about classic games are the people who were born too late to appreciate them.

lol! toki rules. my brother and i used to play that all the time at this hotel in denver. my games are: r-type leo puzzle bobble (this game gets more play on my mame cab than anything else) mars matrix cliff hanger rival schools -
did you even bother to read the posts directly above yours? didnt think so.

why is it that computer literate people like violence can be so ignorant? if you dont like the mame32 interface, try clicking those little buttons on the top of the main screen. guess what! they customize the interface! and you dont even have to go into a menu to do it! now tell me how that is more difficult...

had to resize, my desktop is 1280x1024 why the whole desktop ? i can take a screenshot of the kawaks window which uses less space and file size. i just pressed print screen, resized, and threw it up on my webspace... i didnt think there was gonna be a critique. just asked . and there was no need to be offended. im not offended, im just a smart@ss -

Kof2003 keyboard help
ovalprocess replied to Absolute Yashiro's topic in Arcade Emulators [/pc/arcade]
cant be. it has to have a large enough buffer to allow ctrl+alt+del. my guess is that theres a driver incompatibility between that hacked mame and your keyboard. -
woohoo im no longer chaining myself to the DC area
