I cringed upon hearing that...

Oooooh yea... It works... IT WORKS!!!!!! My pc is old so I am limited on what I can do. But now I have set up my first initial run with ePSXe. I got the basic plugins as I just wanted to make sure the damn thing runs. Screen was about 1/4 though. My next step is finding the balance for great gaming. Hopefully that means full screen with no slowdown. I guess I'll grab a few more graphic plugins and see what this thing can do! So yea... finally got Star Ocean Second Story. I'll be downloading like a maniac... But I know in time... I will probably hunt down and buy all the games I really like. It is going to be an undertaking... as the games are getting dated. So yea... guess I'll peruse the threads here and see some recommendations for games... those of course ... that I have long forgotten.

Well thanks anyway Robert. Turns out... I was chasing the wrong tail. Upon further examination I noticed the ecm file was actually an img.ecm. Furthermore, It was either corrupt, or my Daemon cannot mount it for whatever reason. I have found what I was looking for... and lay this converting business to rest.

Ahh I see. Not a good sign... but still. I will still look into it though. I obviously promise nothing... but sometimes I find a thing or two. At best... I might be able to find something that might ease (something). Alternative medicine can be a shot in the dark sometimes. First you look at what you take, (or will take) and then work your way from the cause of the ailment. I don't know how the market works over there in Australia... But if there is something beneficial to your ailment... you may have to have it mailed. (lol twigs or roots or something!) Common remedies are often things that promote wellness. Some key ingredient in this or that... I know I'm being vague... but thats how it is. Well Robert, how have you been feeling as of late? Still eating salad and such?

Sorry I missed your birthday Diso. Happy belated Birthday! Devia Eleven... Happy Birthday!

Looks as if I need a different mounter. Wish I could just find an ISO... I really don't want to download 1,000,000 programs. If only I could convert these into an ISO...

Upon further searching... it appears that I am out of luck. Apparently I should just search again and hopefully find an actual ISO. But this doesn't make sense... I am missing something basic. Tack it up to noobism. At this rate... I'll never get this game going...

Nono... turns out I was converting .rar into .rar..... At least thats what I think I did lol. There was no selections for what you want to convert to. Therefore I believe that it only converts into .rar. When I chose to convert the .rar, I chose the folder the unzipped .rar was in. When it was done... there was a .rar in the folder too. Thats when it hit me. The realization that I have no idea what the hell I am doing.

HA HA ... I guess not! And to think.... I was a math and science guy... I couldn't remember how to derive a percentage on a calc. Whatever...

OK. I am reading lots and lots of bullsh!t. I cannot find the answer, as I must not know how to ask the proper question... So just in case I cannot find the answer anytime soon... I'll state where I am at here... in case someone happens upon this thread quicker than I can find the info. DL a game last night. (1st disk). It is in .rar format. When I open it... it is not an ISO, it's 3 seperate files. CCD ECM and SUB. Trying to find out how to make these into an ISO. Sounds easy enough to find an answer... but all I find is lose ends and commands for linux. Apparently I am not asking the right questions. Back to the endless searching until I actually know what the hell I am looking at...

Devia and Wizard are correct. So... I'm in the top .004% Now thats elite...

I am no doctor... but do not fret. You did say 1st diagnosis. So wait till you get another opinion. Secondly... Hmmm. alternative medicines. Perhaps I can look into this matter and see what I can dig up. I have a source of knowledge in this field, and I'll get back to you when I get an answer or two.

Agozer and I actually spoke about this. I am for it. But I guess it doesn't matter. 1% you say. I feel elite.

Well this whole thread is going to be me popping a blood vessel. I guess I'll archive all my mistakes so someone in my situation in the future... may learn from them. Winrar/ Tools/ Convert Archives/ Now to the right, it says archive types. rar(1) is selected, and shows my game. Twice have I chose this and also ISO. I thought it would well... convert. NO!!! (YEA YEA now looking at this... I am a moron) When I uncheck rar(1) the game disappears from the left selection window. So I am to understand that this selects the file type to be converted only... which means that this conversion option only converts... TO .RAR!!!! WTF!!!! I never considered that it only converted to .RAR... that and... the instruction I read said to simply do this... either he was wrong... or on top of being ignorant... I'm stupid too... LOL

So I came to a decision earlier....
Krosigrim replied to ken_cinder's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Yea I was using my tv as a monitor as well. But that didn't work out so well as my PC was reeeeal old and has no graphic board. So I didn't have the proper resolution pumping to the tv... so what I got was a non permanent burn in effect. Thank god it faded away. So yea... using a tv as a monitor is amazing... Nice setup... but I don't know if I like the desk. Well lets see. I think I see 5 PS1 Memory cards??? Anyway... you said office... right? are you actually going to get any work done??? -
Hands on... it's the only way to learn. I notticed that in the options, it had a selection for folder to send the converted files to. Well I selected it this time... and trying again... but my question remains... where the hell did my original ISO conversion go? Is there a default place things of this nature go? I remember long ago I found a folder that contained a copy of everything I ever extracted. Is there a folder like that? A default folder where one might find files that had no particular destination or lost files... and maybe 30 years of socks? If so I want to know... as I don't want wasted disk space... as I only have 2 -40 GB HDD's. Already down to 10.5 on my main... gotta do some cleaning... and miscellaneous files need to be trashed. So... anyone have some insight?
-
ARRRGH!!! I waited 20 min. It said complete. WHERE THE HELL IS IT!!! It's not here... it's not there... Why does this have to be such a pain in the ass?!!!!
-
Yea I got to hand it to Agozer. He was absolutely on top of my question the day I joined. In fact... he is always on top of any emulation related question... have you seen his post count? He cant even believe it!!!
-
Well I've been grabbing the pieces for psx emulation. Currently I am converting .rar into ISO. I know my pc is slow... but damn, this is taking forever. I'm using winrar of course, but is there some other way to do this? I downloaded a game, the first disk rather, and it was separated into 3 types of files. CCD ECM & SUB. Doing alittle research, I saw that you just convert it into ISO from WINRAR. I found the option for conversion, and am currently doing so. I'm pretty confident this is the route to take, but is there any other things I might consider? I am new to ISO's for the most part. I have only used a few. And when I found them, they were already ISO format. I have Daemon v4.1, I believe it is a lite version. Considering I only used a basic mounter... is there anything this noob might consider?

WTF is this sh!t! Anyway... Potential for good American animation is great... but I have yet to see much of anything. Anime in general sucks. The ones that were good, were more than good, they were great, and the ones that actually passed... barely did so. Case in point. Naruto. They set up alot of possibilities for awesomeness... but they flocked it all up. Just as practically every anime does. DBZ is another good example. Lets see, good American animation. Justice league of America. That show was pretty good. The old Batman show way back when... when was it, early 90's? I'm sure there are a few more, but thats about it. With so much crap out there, you may wonder why I say there is great potential. Well we live in a day and age where we can experience any type of media or in general... ideas from abroad... instantly. What we need are visionaries to capitalize on the possibilities. But from what we (Americans) have... it's slim pickins. Perfect example... X-men. Jim Lee drew that sh!t... he should be shot. I know most everyone thinks Jim Lee is a great artist... I know this is an opinion... but your wrong, he sucks ass. I never really liked his work. His comics were better than the show, I know drawing frame by frame takes alot of time, but damned if I can't stand it regardless. A few years back my friend put on the Avenger movie. I HATE HATE HATE THAT STYLE OF ANIMATION!!!!!! X-men, Avengers. These animations were very very lazy looking. They had no flare. I could go into further explanation... but that is pointless. To better describe my point, I'll refer to works that set the standard (of good animation) Ninja Scroll... (the movie) The artist is alright, nothing special in terms of detail... but he really made the action look epic. I'm sure there are alot of folks that help, but overall, that is kinda what I want to see when I see anything animated. One technique they used in Ninja Scroll, Was a blur buffer. I'm not sure what the actual terminology is... but they would take 2 animations, then blur the 2 and place that frame in between. Making 2 frames into 3... This saved time, and made the animation smooth. A good technique. Another movie I liked was Fist of the Northstar. Sure it's old, and quite cheesy. but they used alot of techniques I have never seen since. Obviously I am referring to anyone in that movie that exploded. But more descriptively, when that metal guy got punched through a mountain or two by Raul, then his steel skin cracked and ... I cannot visually describe what the hell happened to him. He got flocked up though... lol. Or in the beginning, when Ken walked through a falling building without slowing down... that was epic. I can watch that movie over and over... It is always awesome. For those who have not seen the Fist of the Northstar animated movie... WATCH IT! See, DBZ had some great fight scenes, and some pretty crappy ones too. but other than the fighting... the show was a drag. 5 episodes of Goku building up power while they recap the past episodes to fill time. FLOCK THAT! What we need, is someone with a great idea, alot of someones rather... and someone who would make sure it doesn't get all screwed up like Naruto or Bleach or DBZ. Even accounting for the differences in culture... these shows just plain dropped the ball. Anyone remember Akira? Sure the movie was kinda boring at times, but it represents what Anime should be. Akira really didn't have filler. Neither did FotNS or NS. But has anyone seen those Naruto movies?!?! They suck ass too!!! WTF! How can you mess up a movie production!!!! But it happened. That snow princess movie had alot of time poured into it in terms of detail in motion... but the movie was just as lackluster as the show is. In the show, something awesome happens 2% of the time (and thats generous) but the rest of the time is painful BS. Sure you got to set up the story... but come on. Anyone here seen Plastic Little? I havent seen it in forever... but I remember it being pretty good in terms of anime. What the hell is happening to everyone!!! There is a lack of decent titles. And it rings a familiar tone. Our games. Someone wants to make a buck and shoves it out the door and it seems like it either didn't have enough time to finish it, or they didn't have a good idea in the first place, and just wanted to make a buck off the mindless consumers. When I buy a game... I keep it forever... I don't make a practice of selling games. I keep them. Because they were good. And that is rare. One day I'll feel like playing it again. Happens all the time. I appreciate good games, and worship great ones. (practically) But since there are so few... I gotta hang onto them. But I guess you cannot have good without bad. That being said... where are the good American animations??!!??! All we have is a handful. And those are old. We need a revolution. That in turn will inspire others to do better (one would hope) and then we could get some competition going, and actually have an age of decent sh!t to watch... whats taking them so long!!!!????

The Dark Night Pretty good movie, it really was long... huh? Well I'm glad it was long, I'm sick of good movies that last 1.2 hours. Oh yea, and I watched Fight Club last night on G4

Robert... you'll be fine. Doesn't mean I wont pray for you... but this will pass... (Uhhhh... not intended to be a pun) Eat lots of greasy food, and drink lots of coffee. But for real, it's probably best if you drink mostly water. And never... EVER joke about joining the vegetarians!!!!!

Well I suppose Force Unleashed would get old... but Ill not be playing VF. I never liked those games, whereas I am a fan of SC. I cant wait till FFXIII. But until then I might have to buy one of the new RPG's... If I recall... there were a few... I'll look into them soon.

Haha... I have no input whatsoever... but I see Cinder is in here... that is exactly who I was thinking of when I read your post... He will definitely be able to help... don't you worry.
