  1. Basically what I do with the changelogs on MAMEInfo is go through them and look for entries that say "Renamed files for set X", "Renamed sets to match X", "Added new Y roms to set X", or something similar. Another way is to visit a MAME resource database like MAWS. Search for your sets there and look at their change history across MAME versions. Granted, 9 times out of 10 the MAME changes affect MAME emulation routines only, and not so much the contents or names of individual romsets and the files within. Like Robert said, rom managers can identify outdated sets fast and easy. I've never used one myself apart from curiosity, and because I don't think I need one. They are not very difficult to use. Furthermore, MAME itself is also a pretty good indicator if your sets are outdated in the sense that romsets that it can't "find" when you scan for available romsets never appear or appear as corrupt or incomplete. When you try to run one of these sets, MAME will tell you what files it is unable to load.
  2. Define "don't work". What is this Neogeo patch you speak of? You need MAME sets for Kawaks 1.58.
  3. All MAME builds I know of support Neo-Geo games, the Neo-Geo being an arcade system and all. :/ I personally use MAME32 Plus!. It's "the best" for me.
  4. Twinkle Star Sprites, but close enough. Yes, it's beyond awesome.
  5. Personally, I go through the detailed changelogs courtesy of MAMEInfo, and update my romsets when necessary (rename sets/files or redownload if new files have been added). No, I don't redownload my entire collection every time a new major build comes out. That would be stupid and a waste of time and effort.
  6. I wouldn't be too surprised if another romsite(s) hadfallen for the "ESA Protected" bullcrap. It's not tough, you're just using bad sites.
  7. MAME supports the Nintendo Super System (SNES hardware and games converted for arcade use) to some degree, but the emulation is far from perfect. Only a handful of SNES games were ever given the arcade treatment. Like James said, MAME is an arcade emulator, nothing more nothing less. If you must have a multi-console emulator, then MESS is the answer.
  8. Most likely a false postive. Then again, you shouldn't have any need for a Loader since all games are supported, unless you have custom romsets.
  9. Nothing in this world is "free". I have little trust for sites that have an URL that starts with h**p://www.freesomethingorother.*
  10. I found Parasite Eve II to be very difficult. Not that I don't like the series, I just suck at playing it.
  11. 1. Using Firefox 2. Cable 4Mbits/1Mbit 3. maybe, I hope not.
  12. Oh god my eyes. Bobu~~~~~~~~ Nothing like an american redneck stereotype to spice things up.
  13. I like Tomb Raider II the most, although I suck tremendously at it.
  14. Are you asking a question or what?
  15. Maybe the residents know subconsciously that the handsome protagonist and his/her motley crew and in progress of saving the world, and so the residents harbor no animosity towards the group of people that burst into the house and take whatever they find useful.
  16. I still love Sonic Heroes, but if I had to pick an oldschool Sonic, a definite vote for Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
  17. Mupen64K recommended over Project64K though.
  18. I don't know, because I've never had to rip GD-ROM discs. However, the information is available on the Internet. Supposedly a special cable and perhaps a DVD drive firmware modification is needed.
  19. Because a GD-ROM disc is physically different from DVD-ROM discs, and AFAIK, uses a different filesystem (I could be wrong on this one though).
  20. Some people say that Blue Dragon is a letdown. How much truth is in this?
  21. Most likely we did not block you, but your university blocked us. And no, we haven't banned Purto Rico, although it is possible that the site now bans some Puerto Rican IP addresses, or in turn, some public proxies.
