Emulation is not illegal. The main purpose of emulators is not to provide the means for people to play console games on their PC that they illegally downloaded. The ability to play games is a side-effect of accurate (or at the very least, near-accurate) emulation of the target hardware. It just happens that most of those who are using emulators are using them the illegal way. The legal way of emulator use would mean to only play public domain games and/or run test carts to see if the emulator is accurate enough to pass hardware tests and different memory map/RAM/ROM checks. Nothing more, nothing less really. Well ok, if you own the original game cart and dump it yourself, I think it's legal for you to run the ROM image in the emulator. Except that copiers are a gray area. If emulators were illegal you wouldn't be seeing any posts about new emulator versions, links et al. At least not on this board.

From my experience (and this is on my system) the sound can have occasional hitches in it regardless of the game. I don't know if this has something to do with the Direct3D9 renderer (the hitches seem to be less frequent with Direc3D8) or my drivers. However, it doesn't bother me tht much I don't think I've ever had similar problems as the OP. Do you have Auto adjust volume checked?

There are still people you will buy all the Mortal Kombat games ever made, but I agree with the majority that the series stopped being fun long ago. And if Armageddon has truly thrown out the fatalities and most of the things that made the games fun and unique in the past (not to mention the travesty that is Motaro), then the series can die. Mortal Kombat 2 & 3 are still kings.

SSF is the best Sega Saturn emulator. If the mounted disc comes up as an audio CD, there can be a few reasons: 1) The image is not selfboot 2) The image is corrupt 3) and possibly something else that I might have overlooked.

Play online on Chankast? I think we'll see an full speed XBOX emulator before we see some kind of online features in Chankast. So no. Whether or not SPO will work, I don't know.

NullDC? A new emu on PC? Better than Chankast? Word has it that it will be loads better than Chankast. There are some shots on NGEmu, although they provide little proof of its superiority in my opinion. Either way, at least DC fans have something to drool after.
