  1. Indeed an awesome demo. A lot of people seem to call Yakuza is spiritual successor to Shenmue, and personally I find that to be spot on. The Yakuza underling boss fight is pretty difficult in the demo after he whips out a katana.
  2. Actually, Koudelka is a precursor to the Shadow Hearts series (some even call it canon), and it's nothing like Resident Evil. Plus, Squaresoft had nothing to do with it, although some of Sacnoth's staff are ex-Squaresoft employees.
  3. Yeah, Metal Gear Solid, definitely. Final Fantasy VII-IX is more or less a no-brainer, as well. Oh yeah, Parasite Eve 1-2. Silhouette Mirage Xenogears
  4. The IP and the screen name are more or less a dead giveaway. Again.
  5. Einhänder Dino Crisis 1-2 (Maybe the sequel more so) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Legend of Mana The Misadventures of Tron Bonne Persona: Revelations, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (Yes, there are two different Persona 2 games, with Innocent Sin the one that was never officially localized) Silent Hill Tales of Eternia Vagrant Story Valkyrie Profile Star Ocean: The Second Story Wild ARMs 1-2 Suikoden 1-2 Of course, there are other excellent games in the PSX game catalog as well, but since you asked about the ones that stand the test of time, there you have it. Others will add more games, undoubtedly.
  6. Genji on the PS2. Supposedly loads better than Days of the Blade on the PS3.
  7. Amen, bro. Although it still needs to be said that being over analytical of certain things (like say, yourself, the people around you, and life in general) leads to nothing good, because most of the time all you find is shit and more shit. I had to look up cantankerous in a dictionary. Touché, you sneaky American linguist you.
  8. I just read EuroGamer's review. man, what a letdown.
  9. Glitchy and gimmicky how? From what I've seen, this new AvP seems pretty good.
  10. Um... perhaps the battles. The story, character development and egad... the dialog are horrific. This isn't even an opinion... it's FACT. LOL I'm usually not that bothered by hammy story and dialogue, if the game's gameplay mechanics keep me interested. Well, having the original japanese voices helps quite a bit. The only real gripes I have with Star Ocean as a series are the ridiculously long dungeons, items limited to 20 pieces and that stepping on save point doesn't restore HP/MP. Save points are scattered far apart, and the games often require level-grinding regardless of the multiple difficulty levels offered. At least the developers did away with the "feature" where activating skills consumes HP. SO3 was nasty in that regard.
  11. You'll find less and less true 2D on consoles these days. It's all about 3D on a 2D plane, whether one likes it or not.
  12. Yeah, beat that boss with one try too, but it sure took a while. Nothing like getting a face full of stone pillars twice in a row, or that unblockable "homing-laser-grab" attack.
  13. Good to know. . I think. Yeah, that one was pretty nasty for a boss. Chapter 8, IIRC.
  14. IMO, the series started out fine, but the end result was a boring mess, that doesn't really satisfies action fans, dark fantasy fans nor ecchi fans. This coming from a person who doesn't find that many animes boring.
  15. Star Ocean:The Last Hope International. It's awesome.
  16. I can't even remember that much. :/ Maybe GameCop has better long-term memory than I do.
  17. Yeah, tell me about it. I'm currently in Chapter 10 (Tairon Under Alert), and things aren't easy at all. It doesn't help that you might stumble into one of those Test of Valor rooms by accident, which can really throw a wrench into your gameplay. Plus, nothing speaks volumes of "FFFFFUUUUUU" like barely clearing one of such rooms in 15 or so minutes with great difficulty, and immediately after you find yourself in a boss fight without a Dragon Statue or Muramasa's shop anywhere in sight. I remember that it took me the better part of 10 or so tries just to get past the first two chapters when I first started playing a few months ago. Not to mention that the boss at the end of Chapter 2 can defeat you in a single hit. Of course, if you somehow manage to beat him, you'll unlock the Mission Mode. NGS2 on the other hand is something that keeps me playing even with the rather unforgiving difficulty at times. I absolutely love Ayane's chapter, although is also one of the more difficult and shortest chapters in the game. Playing as a kunoichi who's faster than a greased lighting is just awesome to the tenth degree.
  18. Someone care to bring me up to speed with what we're talking about here?
  19. Night Trap is shitty to the point where it becomes good. All 90's FMV games with real actors are shitty one way or another, though
  20. A romsite. Naming romsites here is a big no-no, since this forum does not aid copyright infringement in any way. The name itself is already a clue. I really wouldn't know if the site's full of viruses, but there's always the possibility of getting something unwanted from sites like the one we're discussing. Then again, there are plenty of similar sites that are completely safe, as well.
  21. We have a thread for this in the PlayStation 3 forum, you know. I added your games tot he master list.
  22. Yeah, the demo is pretty sweet. The game begs to be played on the hardest difficulty, and is one of the handful of games that incorporated SIXAXIS motion controls in a way that doesn't feel like just an afterthought,
  23. LOL! Is that what you do in America, Gryph? Impregnating as many white girls as you can? ;p One should assume that his sperm is top-class.
  24. While I'm not as anti-RapidShare as TheIceMan, RapidShare has loads of issues. The bottom line is that personally, I would never pay any kind of membership fee for "better" service that these sites offer. Now, short answers to your questions. 1) A file-hosting site based in Germany. One of the largest. 2) I don't see any reason why U.S. citizens couldn't get a Premium account, for example. RapidShare accepts PayPal, after all. 3) A download manager you won't need.
  25. No. Screenshot please. I also suspect that whatever blur gets applied to the screen when windowed, has to do with your drivers and video hardware (if the blur is the kind what I think it is, it's prominent on Nvidia's hardware).
