  1. Leechers also seed whatever parts they might have. P.S. Moved for great justice.
  2. Since when did 1Emulation turn into a variation of Oprah?
  3. Same here. Those arcade games have a whole different kind of charm to them thanks to unbelievably bad English localization. Granted, the localizations back in the day were made by the japanese themselves; you can't really expect them to be any good at it, when they can't really do it 100% right nowadays either (when they decide to try and use English words in "creative" ways, for example - Plus the whole L R thing just doesn't fit into their consciousness). That reminds me: Twnkle Star Sprites has some pretty lolworthy stuff. Most of the Neo-Geo games do, though.
  4. Looks great. Too bad I don't get the chance to actually play this myself.
  5. I've been reading a lot of the same things emsley pointed out. Plus, every one of you guys carry a concealed knife, at least if recent news are to be believed.
  6. Tenchu: Fatal Shadows. Fun to be had slitting throats in the shadows.
  7. Mana-Khemia 2. Better than the first, and the first one is awesome. So yeah.
  8. happy birthday, G. *Insert a classic House of the Dead 2 quote here*
  9. I've heard of Old Maid, but not the others. Klondike and Pyramid, as in, solitaire (or for yanks, patience) card games.
  10. I like the classic Klondike and Pyramid. Old Maid is fun too.
  11. How many JRPGs for the PS2 have you completed? Considering I have around 116 games + 20-something backups in my collection, with JRPGs taking roughly 50% of that, I have to say that I haven't finished too of them. Around 15 or so maybe. My gaming habits often swing wildly; sometimes I switch games almost daily, other times I might devote 3-4 weeks to a single game (Persona 3 got this treatment, but I started basically from scratch after I got my hands on FES - got pretty far on P3 before FES forced me to start over). The biggest problem is that I often have NTSC backups of certain games, and I play those with almost religious zeal - only to realize after a PAL copy arrives that the savegames between PAL and NTSC are not compatible. Currently waiting for my copy of Mana-Khemia (been delayed almost for 2 months thanks to retailers dicking around), and waiting for Ar Tonelico II preorder possibilities. So yeah, lots of games "in the works" simultaneously.
  12. Star Ocean: Second Story. This, time, I'll finish it proper.
  13. Mindhunters. Liked it and actually didn't see the final twist coming.
  14. Many NES games were hard, no doubt about it, and basically the only way to master them was to memorize the "difficult" spots. Many of the games were difficult not because of bad controls or particular bosses with nasty attacks or because you needed god-life reflexes, but because of the overall level design, enemy placement and enemy spawning. Many NES games were also quite notoriousfor utilizing the "constantly respawning enemies" syndrome where the game would immediately respawn enemies you already battled before just because you made the mistake of moving backwards enough that the screen scrolled. Of course level design usually walked hand in hand with this respawn syndrome where enemy placement would be such that they appear immediately after you've made a jump or some other necessary and potentially risky move (Ninja Gaiden being the most notable and infamous, but certainly not the only one - Megaman for example, is equally guilty). You don't see this kind of thing anymore in modern games, and much of the annoyance comes from noticeably bad gameplay or design choices, or piss poor enemy AI, etc.
  15. Shadow Hearts. Not much of a looker even by the PS2's standards, but damn, the storyline and atmosphere is something else. Plus, the first iteration of the Judgement Ring System is still good.
  16. Are you telling me that you haven't touched an actual NES nor a NES emulator until now? Unbelievable. In any case, some games to have fun with: Akumajou Densetsu (yes, the japanese version of Castlevania because it has a superior sound chip) Battletoads (warning: will lead to frustration beyond anything you've experienced before) Bionic Commando Crystalis Double Dragon 1-3 Duck Tales 1-2 Earthbound (yes, the NES prototype) Esper Dream 2 Excitebike (great game after all these years) Final Fantasy I-III (definitely III just to see where that DS port has its roots) Gargoyle's Quest 2 Kirby's Adventure (one of the few NES games I played from start to finish with religious zeal) Megaman 1-6 Metal Gear (Outer Heaven, ooh) Mighty Final Fight (probably the most unique and best ports of Final Fight I've ever played) Nekketsu! Street Basket (over the top action similar to World Cup, only no soccer this time) Power Blade 1-2 Radia Senki River City Ransom (everyone needs to give this one a go) Contra and Super C Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 (one of the best console ports from the arcade game) Darkwing Duck (a surprisingly good game with Megaman vibes despite being based on a cartoon) Super Mario Bros 1-3 (no-brainer, especially 2 and 3, despite SMB2 having been reworked into an SMB game from a totally unrelated japanese game) World Cup (every console game needs a good arcade-ish soccer game and World Cup is the definitive choice) Ninja Gaiden I-III (although you can played their remastered version on the SNES)
  17. Definitely make sure that the onboard graphics chip is disabled in the BIOS settings.
  18. I don't remember (nor have I bothered looking, really). If VBA-M doesn't support linking, then use VBALink.
  19. Usually only some moves can be performed both on the ground and in the air.
  20. Definitely needs a lightgun game or two. One from the time Crisis Series (including Crisis Zone) + House of the Dead 2.
  21. This is pretty neat. the link should probably be mirrored more for great justice.
  22. VBA-M changed hosts a good while back, after issues first with NGEmu and then the vba-m.com domain. Use Google Code if you want the latest binaries.
  23. Read. The. Board. Rules. How can you register on a message board and not be aware of the rules?
