  1. It's not like Nintendo hasn't attacked emulators that emulate its hardware in the past. The issue to them really isn't whether the emulator is open source or not. But yeah, they probably would have done something by now.
  2. Have you read the contents of this thread. You can't expect people to always give you visual hints. There are times when you will just have to read - after all, emulator authors do not write user manuals and ReadMes just for kicks. Read the board rules, too.
  3. Yeah, you need the newest DirectX 9c redistributables and as well as (maybe) Visual C++ 2005 runtimes. Of course, this is all explained in the ReadMe, so...
  4. I usually get one every single year, but this year's different. I wonder what changed.
  5. Ah, my bad. My brain instantly went into "Shemue II is for Dreamcast only" mode.
  6. Like I said earlier, perhaps the emulators simply don't have the necessary coding to emulate the voices in-game. It would seem that way at least. I haven't tried Shenmue II on emulators, so I can't verify anything.
  7. Perhaps it is just not emulated or you haven't turned voices on.
  8. Fusion's manual will answer your question. Mount it, make Fusion read from the right drive, boot the CD. Fusion also reads disc images directly bun only in ISO or BIN/CUE format. P.S. That's what you get for ripping with CloneCD.
  9. lol Vista. That's delightfully weird.
  10. DC emulation is heavily dependent on the disc image you have, for starters. Yes, others may have gotten it to work in nullDC just fine, but as far as I'm concerned, the one who made that video most likely had a completely different image from yours. He migt have been using a different BIOs revision/region too, who knows. It's not like he's giving any specific details.
  11. Well, if the console reports an error, you might as well be stuck for good. The reason why I don't like non-selfboot games is because they make you jump through hoops to get results, and even then getting results is a bit of a shot in the dark. Either ditch that image you have and try to find a selfboot image, or try to make that image selfboot by yourself (a rather complex task that requires a couple of tools and extra files - hard-to get ones and this procedure is complex enough for me to not even bother trying to explain that in a way that would make sense to you). Before ditch that image though, you might want to try booting in Demul, if only for kicks.
  12. Make sure that you've selected nullDC controller [Winhook] as the active controller plugin. Otherwise, nullDC doesn't emulate the controller at all (or depending on the selection, emulates the DC keyboard, the DC mouse or a disconnected controller), thus robbing you of any additional options the Maple menu might offer. If a boot disc (or any game) is complaining about incompatible AV cables, set the Cable Type to either TV or VGA, whichever works.
  13. Options --> Maple --> Port A --> Config keys for Player 1. If you boot the game up normally and it shows up as a music CD, then that is a pretty strong indicator that either the disc image is damaged or it is non-selfboot (well in all honestly, DC games ripped to BIN/CUE are always non-selfboot because the BIN image only has one track - selfboot games need at least two, AFAIK). If the disc image is not damaged, then you need that bootdisc we discussed earlier. Boot it first and follow whatever it tells you. If it fails to boot, you are SOL.
  14. Make sure that you've enabled VMUs emulation in Options --> Plugins. And you could have just kept this question in your original thread. Now there two identical questions in two different places.
  15. Reading the accompanied ReadMe file might help. Options --> Maple --> Port A
  16. The Flash file doesn't have to vary in size to be corrupted.
  17. A missing DirectX DLL suggest that you haven't installed the latest DirectX runtimes. Get the DirectX Web Updater and update. Do not use the MMU executable. It is only meant to be used if you happen to like nullDC in Interpreter mode (Dynarec disabled, which 99.9% of users do not like because it is several times slower than Dynamic Recompilation).
  18. Which version of nullDC are you using? If nullDC asks you to set the date and time every time you try to boot a game, your Flash file is corrupt.
  19. No, The Dreamcast stores date/time and other BIOS settings in it's flash memory (similar to some GBA games to stores save data in flash memory). The actual BIOS is a program on a separate chip and it is not altered in any way. The flash (both the physical representation in the DC itself and (apparently) the dumped file which contains the Flash memory are very volatile. Why it corrupts itself so easily is a mystery to me. As a final solution, replace the Flash file with a known uncorrupted version a boot the console up, cancel the date/time questionnaire and then immediately close nullDC the normal way (File --> Exit or whatever it's named). This will hopefully write the flash file properly upon exit. Then boot the console up once more and see if things have improved.
  20. I'll make a few points clear just so that we're on the same page here: The Option --> GDROM menu specifies a certain disc image that will always be used when you fire up nullDC. Most people only use this when they plan to play a single game for a long time and do not swap games often. I'd suggest using File --> Normal Boot to boot your games. Not the Options --> GDROM menu nor HLE GDROM Boot option, because the latter bypasses the BIOS, and can/will lead to compatibility issues. Don't use a bootdisc unless you are absolutely sure that you need one. Games that need a bootdisc simply do not boot at all and stay in the Dreamcast menu. Finally, does the game crash or does the entire emulator crash? Which version of nullDC are you using?
  21. Then the flash file is still corrupt. When it is not, any DC emulator will ask you for the date and time only once when you power up the BIOS for the first time, and then let you into the main menu. Do not change the time/date values, just cancel that.
