The problem is that it's their emulator, and they are known for not listening to these types of requests. MAME has always been about better and better accuracy (it is, after all, the flagship of hardware preservation efforts), so the developers will hardly change their approach just because some people are unhappy with it.

It all has to do with the console's own hardware having specific hardware for specific tasks and those pieces of chips and whatnot are designed to work in sync with each other. Now take a look at the PC hardware; while it has hardware for graphics audio and whatnot, similar to,say, the PS2, none of that hardware is specifically designed to do e.g. graphics just for, COD4 or PS2 games. This hardware has to do many things, things which vary in complexity and execution, whereas the hardware of the PS2 for example, has to only worry about stuff pertaining to the PS2 and PSX. To top it off, the reason the PS2 is so well backwards compatible with the PSX is because the PS2 isn't emulating the PS1, but the PS2 has the hardware of the PSX inside it. Now, to get back to the original problem: the problem is that even if you tell the PC graphics card to work with the PS2's graphics data, it cannot understand that data, because the PC graphics card wasn't specifically designed to understand the PS2's graphics routines. So something has to translate this mess for the graphics card in order for it to output something visible to the user. And this "translator" happens to be your processor. The faster your processor is, and the more cores it has, doing specific translation work themselves, the faster the resulting emulation will be. Same with sound and every other component that the console has, and this is why emulation of console can never be compared directly to PC games. This is how it will always be with PCs, and the only way to make this translation noticeable faster is to split the translation effort to many processors, i.e. multiple cores in the same processor. Unless hardware manufacturers come into some agreement where they start to embed console hardware seamlessly into everyday PCs this approach to emulation will never change.

You have sex with a lot of girls/guys/monsters/robots/animals/take your pick depending on the content of the game, with some not-so-important of a plot (occasionally) covering all that. That's about it. Alternatively, these games can be "use object X on girl/partner Y and see what happens" types.

You sound like a bot, lol

Why is that? Accuracy for the sake of accuracy, sacrificing speed in the process.

Grandia III. It's not as bad as many people say it is.

Yeah, I can agree with the sentiment that the PS2 is the best system of all time. It has an absolutely ridiculous number of games, and the relative easy of modding it, brings out the potential of the game library even more of a reality, especially for PAL gamers (I should know, of all people). With a game library that huge, of course it's going to have it's share of utter trash. Still, the really good games (your preference in game genres notwithstanding) easily bests the bad ones. There are still number of neat games that I'm waiting to get released in PAL territories, and the number of used games in circulation is staggering. Only in recent years I have seen an adequate drop in game prices, so that is welcome too. Still knowing what kind of pricing bullshit retailers over here and in Australia use, the prices are still high compared to the US, but like I said earlier, the market for second hand games makes up for that to a degree. About those multiplatform [license tie-in] games: It's true that PS2 owners shouldn't really bother with those, unless they must have a game like that and do not own a next-gen system. It's impressive what the PS2 has managed to do, despite having a much weaker hardware than its competitors the Xbox and the GameCube. Now if only Sony would face the music and set up the same kind of a stage for the PS3.

Sorry but playing copyrighted material for free on your web browser no less, is not something we'll link to. We are done here, and your link will be removed. Plus, registering just to promote your own site that hosts, in effect, ROMs, is strikes 2 and 3 right here.

Yeah, dungeons are randomly generated in both games.

The 36 Best PS2 Games By GamePro Magazine!

I wouldn't say it's god awful, but it has tons of issues, and some of them make you want to beat the developers with a baseball bat. -
What are you saying? Roll was awesome.

Japanese vs. American video game box arts!
Agozer replied to Alpha's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
It should; it was designed by the same guy who's in charge of SNK's artwork and designs in its games. (FALCOON?). -
No. Again, this kind of request fall under "DO NOT" in our rules. CHD files are the same thing as ISOs/disc image, only they are in a format MAME and ome other arcade emulators can understand.

No. Please read the board rules.

I agree with this review for what little I've played the first game. Dark Chronicle/Dark Cloud 2 is much more enjoyable, and improves upon the first dramatically, although the longish dungeon sections aren't for everybody. Plus, the thirst still returns (IIRC) in the sequel, but I don't remember it being so much of a pain as it is in the first game.

Okami should take the place of Vice City if you ask me, and other games nee dthier grade bumped too. All in all though, I think it is a good list. I should pick up both Psi-Ops and Freedom Fighters. -
Japanese vs. American video game box arts!
Agozer replied to Alpha's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I've always liked Japanese ones better. This selection of box arts does have a few in favor of American, though. PAL covers range from great to flocking pathetic and horrible. For examples of the latter, check box arts from 505 GameStreet's/505Games' budget releases. What also gets me with PAL releases that during the entire lifetime of the PSX, every single game had a black and white manual while Americans and the Japanese always had full color manuals. No final Fantasy game had any cover art apart from the stylished logo on a white background either. While this practice is much rarer in the PS2 days, it still happens. With the advent of the PS2 some part of the publishing arms also though that translating manuals to other languages (i.e. Finnish, Swedish, etc.) was a good idea. Not a bad idea per se, but the translations were sometimes so off and filled with mistakes that you'd feel embarrassed for your country. To add insult to injury, if you have to rely on a translated part of the manual to understand anything about the game, despite the being being 100% English and the manual also had an English section, you shouldn't be playing the game in the first place. Other times, the manual would add things not mentioned in the US manual; things that proved to be completely false in worst cases. Ah, enough ranting for now. -
In order to jump on the bandwagon, I'm here to proclaim that I don't care much either. I'd rather wait 'till the game is out and then draw my conclusions about the characters, balance and all that crap. Well, it's been a rather interesting read post-wise thusfar. What don't really get is the level of zealotry that comes with this entire series. I mean sure, both games have been good and quite fun, they that were not that good. What I am glad to see though is that 1Emulation doesn't have as many rabid MvC fans as the rest of the Internet, it seems.

Can someone help me to find SMW Master Courses?
Agozer replied to Kwaffn's topic in NES & SNES Emulators [/pc/nes+snes]
Like I said, I only found the prepatched ROM image not the IPS file. No, you don't have to type chinese into Google in order to get a hit on the site I mentioned. -

It seems to suck at teh Googles, since it took me around five minutes to find said hack using Google.I can't link you to it because the page I found it in hosted non-GoodSNES sets (meaning, a good chunk of SNES hacks as prepatched ROMs). What I can tell you is that the site was chinese, but there are also English sites that carry the set. -

http://www.romhacking.net/ If you can't find it there, it will be very tough to find it anywhere. If you excel at using Google, it should be no biggie though. -
Just a note, you really shouldn't post your MSN contact info on a public message board, gives spammer ample reason to target you. Also, since this is a message board, there is no reason for us to start helping you over MSN. You registered here for a reason, so stick with it.
