Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Super Heroes
Chaotica replied to BlackKnight's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I disagree that MK sucked - I think it was and still is a great gaming franchise with fluid controls and interesting characters. It may not be perfect, but in the nineties it really took the fight up to Capcom. People who think MK was nothing more than gore really need to wipe the blood from their eyes, because beneath the blood and the fatalities was a decent fighting game that - horror or horrors - dared to be different from Street Fighter or King of Fighters. Mortal Kombat had more visceral fighting mechanics that relied less about combo attacks and more on avoiding making mistakes. Just because Mortal Kombat reveled in excess crimson and was not like Street Fighter does not automatically mean that it was a bad game. It's just a shame the franchise is being prostituted in such a way now. -

I love MK, but this is stupid. -
It was seriously one of the lamest films I have seen in my life. I wish George Lucas would stop slaughtering my childhood heroes.

Tekken Tag Tournament was better on the Playstation. Silkworm was better on the Amiga. Can't think of any others.

I love girls with tattoos. It's hot and edgey. Too many is too much though. -
There are lots of them right now, but FPS are the bread and butter for PC gaming, and are gaining in popularity on the consoles. If people like them, more will be made. And it's not a recent thing - there were lots of FPS 5 years ago and also 10 years ago (but moreso on the PC). But there are other games and game genres out there, whether you play on a PC or a console. And if that doesn't satisfy you, you can always download independent games or retro games off the internet. And it's for these reasons that I scoff at people who think that FPS are somehow pushing other genres off the gaming landscape. That's just tosh. Finally, originality is hard to come by. Believe me - I write fiction, and I draw abit, and it's hard coming up with new stuff, and that's why I no longer bag the games industry for being unoriginal. Having said that, if a game is unoriginal and fun, then it is still worth playing, in my opinion, because it's fun. And also, I think games like Crysis and Bioshock are trying to introduce innovative concepts into the genre, so it's a good time to be a FPS fan who wants something different.

Wrestling used to be heaps better in the attitude era, but I still watch it now. I think I will watch it until the old skool (Triple H, HBK and the Undertaker) retire, then I will log off. Especially with the end of the Undertaker, because he is my favourite wrestler. It is good to see Jericho's charisma back. He makes Randy Orton look even more blockish and thick!

Maybe it's that ghost that is haunting your house, Wizard? The radio voice ghost?

The remake is of the Amiga version, which I honestly thought was heaps better then the PC version.

It's great to see Jericho back, and it was great to see Edge back at Survivor Series.

Sorry Ahmad89...I know I used your words, but I wasn't having a go at you. I was just speaking out in general, and specifically having a go at Reaper's pamphlet. No offence, mate.

Classic quote! What about: "R2D2, you know better then to trust a strange computer!" C3PO "You have failed me [gar! cough!] for the last time! [gag!]" Darth Vader "The Force is great in this one" Darth Vader And the new ones sucked, but the last hour of episode 3 was actually quite good.

It's not about proving anybody or anything wrong. Therein lies the problem. All people have their different beliefs. Deal with it. And then keep your opinions to yourself. Religion is like that. It's funny how people claim that the religious shove their views down other peoples' throats (something I have never seen in my entire life, nor ever done), and then the atheists go out and do the same thing. Like they know it all. Which they do not. I'm a catholic by the way. And I don't know it all, either. But have some respect. It's not about proving or disproving. It's about different people living in harmony with each other.

I don't want to sound like a party pooper, but to me, lots of modern 3d graphics look too much on the plastic side. I've noticed it with lots of games.

Hmmm...I downloaded the latest beta version (6.5 meg), extracted it, and ran the batch file called "Gods full screen." Once it didn't want to start, but the other times it did. It can take a few seconds to initially boot up. Maybe try switching off any other programs you got running?

Gods was a "thinking man's platformer" made by the Bitmap Brothers for the Amiga. I consider it as one of my favourite games ever, if not my favourite. The gameplay focuses more on exploration and puzzle solving, with lots of devious little secrets to be found. It's a real gem of a game, in my opinion. The new remake allows you to play it on your PC under Windows, and it is pretty cool. It is a near complete replica of the original, but with some more colourful and detailed graphics. You can always play with the older GFX if you so wish. Download it here.

I'm on dial up (don't laugh) and Bit Comet and Azureus don't work well for me. UTorrent, however, works great. You can always try Bitlord, which is supposed to be good. I myself have never tried it.

Avatar and Signature maintenance
Chaotica replied to Devia Eleven's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I rarely change avatars or my sig. I have had this avatar up for awhile for my love of Amiga games. I have had this sig up for yonks too. I have only had two or three sigs while I have been on this forum, and Bloodrayne has appeared in all of them. And Smilee, I love you avatar, because I love that game, even today. But I always thought the TankJr model was cooler then Kleskie. -

I just took the hardest test of my life. :(
Chaotica replied to Gryph's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Well it looks like I'm not going to do Astronomy then. Too bad. I like stars and celestial bodies. My two hardest tests were my Year 12 Maths Methods and Chemistry exams. I did well on them, but only after studying for weeks on end. I hated those two subjects with a passion. -
Well, thanks for your view Belthasar, and for your story. But believe me. You look at other countries like Australia in awe, because we don't have guns, and we still feel safe. And we look at the US and think you guys are insane to tote guns everywhere. I can't be sure, but from the accounts here, the majority of Americans possess guns because they either feel entitled to them, or because they live in fear. Therein is the problem. As Cinder said, guns don't belong to ordinary people. That's it. There is no way around this. It works for other civilised and western countries. And if people want/need guns out of fear, then that is pointing to another problem that is very deeply ingrained in US society. The problem above seems to be one that Americans, or the American government, do not wish to address, or are too scared to address. I can understand how the problem can be difficult to analyse, just because of the very credible reason that you bring up, Belthasar - that if people have their guns taken away from them, the outlaws will run riot with their own illegal weaponry. I think you were implying that people feel the need for guns just in case there is a siege - I take that to mean a civil war? I honestly don't think that's likely, but I could be wrong. However, I just feel that one of these days, the problem is going to have to be looked at. As sad and as macabre as this sounds, it is probably going to take a number of carnage filled massacres to finally get the issue over with you Yanks, but if that's what it takes, then (sadly) so be it. There will probably need to be a large scale gun buy back scheme (as there was here in Australia after the Port Arthur Massacre, which has reduced gun crime, despite what Charlton Heston may try to tell you), and also a nation wide purge of illicit guns. That will cost billions of dollars and masses of manpower, but don't you feel it will be worth it? And I'm not making this post because I hate America - far from it. In fact, I'm very close to a beautiful New York girl, and I love Hummers and WWE wrestling (!) I'm making this post because when I compare the security and safety I feel in my country, to the apparent gunslinging tension that is in yours, I honestly feel sorry for Americans.
