You have to rip the game as an image (ISO or BIN format) from the CD. You can use Alcohol 120% for that. Daemon tools is only a virtual drive that you use to mount the images.

You only have to authenticate once. You can play on a LAN offline after that. Of course that only pisses of the guys who don't buy the game and just borrow their friends copy at the LAN party.
