  1. It wasn't as big of a storm as people thought. HOWEVER, the town where I grew up got hit pretty hard. Apparently the Taco Bell which is about 1/10th of a mile at most from my old home got totally destroyed. Thankfully we moved out of there this past winter.
  2. I got it from the official google site. I saw one video on Youtube and it was fine.
  3. Yeah I know where you're coming from with privacy issues but Google owns my soul so there is little I can do. And the Firefox main dev you're talking about is Ben Goodger I think and yeah he was one of the original Mozilla guys and now Chrome. And Darin Fisher.
  4. I find it kind of refreshing. It's lacking some things. Some MAJOR things like being able to scroll by clicking on the mouse wheel. It blows my mind that I can't do that. I didn't realize how much I used the scroll wheel button. A more robust bookmarks/favorites thing would be nice too. This is the first beta release. I'm sure they're going to roll that stuff, as well as Google Reader, Google Docs, Calendar, etc in future releases. There was a nice article I read earlier how this could be a major challenge towards Microsoft because many people believe web apps like this are the future. They're already ahead of the game. I didn't know this but Chrome has been in secret development for 2 years+. A guy at another website I visit is one of the founding members of the Chrome team and also works on Firefox at Google. In an interview with the Mozilla Foundation CEO he said that 85% of their revenue comes from Google...now they're competition is Google. Interesting stuff.
  5. Speed means page rendering speed, not really connection speed. Chrome is rendering crap WAY faster than Firefox 3 or IE.
  6. Theres more to Chrome than the USer Interface.
  7. There is a cool comic that explains the whole browser which I think is really cool. I'm only on page 18 right now but if they deliver what they promise then I'm very excited for it. http://blogoscoped.com/google-chrome/
  8. I'm staying away from all media for this game now. I'm going to get the game and either be blown away or completely destroyed. I want that reaction to be a complete surprise to me.
  9. I remember his obnoxious signature picture.
  10. I think GC just found the countdown function so he's giving it a try.
  11. So another storm is about to hit the great state of Louisiana. This time it's actually headed straight for the town I grew up in so I'm expecting that place to be demolished. Luckily my family and I have moved out of there but I've got a lot of friends and people I know who are going to be severely affected. I'm just going to get a crap load of rain and some wind but most of the storm will dissipate by the time it gets to me. Track it here: http://www.stormpulse.com/tropical-storm-gustav-2008
  12. You have FIOS as an option but aren't already using that? What the flock.
  13. If I recall properly it will erase everything when you switch. I could be wrong though.
  14. Have you tried Dawn of War? I suck at most RTS games, but I'm enjoying (and becoming quite successful) at this one because it's more about battle tactics then resource management (the latter which I always find a pain in the behind). You always feel like you have a chance at winning, even when you are on the backfoot, and because your units are grouped into squads and you can reinforce them quickly and easily when you loose a squad member, you never get wiped out without a fight, even when the odds are against you. Oh, and it's incredibly violent, too! Yeah, I own the Platinum collection which came with the first 2 expansions but I didn't play it much. I enjoyed it a lot though. But I left that box at home. However, I do have my copy of Company of Heroes here.
  15. Most people won't really care about these caps because Comcast is right, most users don't use a fraction of the 250 gb cap. It's us assholes who do it.
  16. Then that's when Comcast looses all their customers, or we all actually get "active" and do something about it. Loses customers to where? Most places only have one cable company and one DSL company. It's only a matter of time till other companies start their bandwidth caps.
  17. Cardboard boxes are pretty rare now. The only game I can remember that had that is Call of Duty 4. Everything else I've gotten in the past few years has been plastic.
  18. I'm terrible at all RTS. I still play them because I like to see the little things die and destroy crap.
  19. Valve uses music very sparingly and only in special occasions to make the situation dramatic. The music in Half-Life 2: Episode 2 was really great, especially the final battle.
  20. I loved the music in HL2. I think Valve does their music well. But you're pretty right on the AI, it's just not there most of the time.
  21. I got Gears for PC and didn't even finish it. I thought it was a fairly shallow game.
  22. Hahaha awesome. I've always wanted to buy something hot. Does the Zune have any advantage over the iPod? I haven't kept up with these things lately.
  23. Well we're Americans and we demand bigger, larger, badder, and other awesome adjectives. These limits better go up in the future. Remember how much you used to download a few years ago? That's tiny to how much you download now. The larger our HDDs get and the more we move over to digital distribution this is going to really be a thorn in the side.
  24. I like normal DVD style cases that consoles games come in and European PC games. The thick DVD plastic boxes for PC games is a waste of space.
