I've been reading things where it says enabling VSync actually helps which is rather weird.

The Radeon 9550 is a downclocked Radeon 9600. Here is a review I found: http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware.../tul9550/2.html But you should be able to play fine with Low settings with that card (hell, you may also be able to do medium) because you can play at low settings with a GeForce4MX which is crap.

Now we have to wait and see if those are true. If it is, damn that is impressive.

You're computer is not top of the line (because top of the line means best ). Judging from your specs, medium detail should work fine for you. You can try high setting to see how it runs. The game looks fantastic even on Low settings so don't sweat it. Whatever you do, don't turn off the advanced settings like lighting and bump-mapping because it really ruins the experience. I really want to see this since I am a fan of Michael Mann's work. I am probably going to see it this week when my friends return for school. The trailer was also very cool and aroused my interest, Tom Cruise as a villian and Jamie Foxx in a serious role. And the reviews this movie is getting makes me want to see it even more.

I see... I remember Robert Duffy saying that removing those will severely diminish the environment and experience. I'd rather play on low and keep those special things instead turning off any special effects to play on medium. I also wondered this...why does it matter if a card is DX9 compatible to have the heat haze thing when the game is OpenGL?

K'dash, what kind of frame rates are you getting. From what I am reading about people and their specs, I'll be able to run at High Detail and 1024x768 at some very decent frame rate.

Weird... In Firefox go to Tools -> Options -> Downloads and then under File Types see what programs AVIs and MPEGs are assigned too. Also, reinstall WMP or whatever media player you use.
