  1. Folding@home is a distributed computing project by Stanford University that uses many computers to fold and unlock the secrets of many disease causing proteins. Using thousands of home computers is a cost effective way to do all this computation of the algorithms. This client uses the idle cycles of your computer and uses them to do this. Suppose that you're running Internet Explorer (Mozilla for cool people) and that's taking 10% of your CPU and some other system programs might be taking 5%, so the Folding@home client will use the leftover 85% of your processing capability to fold and unfold proteins. This is a real time program so it adjusts whenever you do something else so it never hinders anything. But I do suggest closing it when you play a fullscreen 3D game. But that's just common sense. Hope that was a decent explanation for you. You can check out folding.stanford.edu for more and better info.
  2. That picture was featured in Seinfeld episode #38, The Letter.
  3. I would rather see them catch an endangered Siberian tiger and pit it against a lion. It would be way more entertaining them some stupid CG models.
  4. I doubt it since they already have 2 Kyoguken (sp?) fighters and I doubt they would add a third one who in all intents and purposes is the same as Ryo. But it would be cool to see Robert.
  5. Well too bad, you can't have one! You'll have to jack Gamecop's emu.
  6. I guess so. Most people join to ask a question and then never return. How sad.
  7. Keep in mind that the japanese voice actor for Tetsuo (whom K9999 was an homage to) also played the voice to K9999 (which is pronounced K-4-9, in case you didn't know) Thanks for that nugget of information. I've been calling him K-Nine-Nine-Nine-Nine all this time...how stupid of me.
  8. That's a Haoh Shouko Ken, a desperation move. ...am I the only one who thinks the new characters look retarded? Except for Lien, Alba n Soiree... they're supposed to be gangsters? Geezus where do these artists come up with their ideas... The new characters except Lien, Alba, and Soiree? Those ARE the new characters that we know of.
  9. It uses whatever processing power you're not using. And the client takes about 6-10 megs of memory so I don't think you'll be able to use it Atleast not the GUI. The console one probably won't take as much memory.
  10. Well I typed in "emu" in Google Image Search and that picture was on the first page. So I assumed it was an emu and didn't do any further research. But I think that ostriches are bigger and have more tail feathers.
  11. I just wrote this while I was in Microbiology class. I call it Antibiotics. It's very geeky and very psuedointellectual. Antibiotics Vibrio, E.coli, Salmonella How terrible these bacteria are. Poison my food, poison my water Antibiotics, they don't matter. Endotoxins, exotoxins Cause diarrhea or even a coma Unclean oysters, undercooked hamburgers Antibiotics, they don't matter.
  12. This isn't derailing. We're talking about alternatives to AIM. AIM is in the title. But I have version 1.1. Everytime I tried to get version 2, the connection timed out.
  13. I had the old Trillian. I don't know why I stopped using it...I still have it installed.
  14. Atleast Weirdanzeige and BobRedThorp appreciate good art. The rest of you are uncultured arse-holes. Take an art appreciation course!
  15. Good good. But I don't why people would be against it. It doesn't take up much processing power. Its safe. Its helpful. Doesn't take up any bandwith. I guess I'll never understand people.
  16. I have turned all the sounds off. I just go by the visual que of the blinking taskbar. I have the new Deadaim but it always asks for a username and seriel key. So I'm going to switch to the new Trillian.
  17. Ah! So someones knows what I'm talking about. Awesome! Those things are damn tasty.
  18. Well all you would have to do is download the Folding@home client which is less than 500K and then pick a username and a team (hopefully a 1emulation one). If you are using a proxy or firewall, you might have to set that up in the client and there you have it. The program will fold away using idle cycles of your computer (thats the default setting. you can make it fold full all the time if you want) and it will send the results to Standford. And you get points for all the folding you do.
  19. Sonic and Mario represented a generation. Our generation. All you got now is that guy from GTA:Vice City and Ratchet and Clank, pathetic. Nothing memorable...
  20. If only I had a Dreamcast and a fast internet connection, then I would be joyful.
  21. Awesome! Thanks for the info K'Dash. This game is looking better...I'm not hating it as much. I like the Haohshokoken (sp?) picture. So out of the 14 returning characters, we know these are there: Terry Kyo Ralf Ryo Yuri 11 more to go.
  22. err....lets look at my post count compared to yours and GryphonKlaw...and then make that list again But he's an admin and he's been here since 2002. We just joined right at 2004. So that makes us the ultra losers. And you're less than 200 posts behind me so we're relatively equal.
  23. I'm pretty sure they would fight to the death. That would be more satisfying. But I'm sure in the old Roman days they used to have these kinds of spectacles. "Come watch ye old Nero's Tiger vs. Lion vs. Christians Extravaganza!"
