  1. Bumping. Fallout 3 crap off Gametrailers, waiting on Knight to embed em if he wants http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36197.html - 5 Minute gameplay vid http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36201.html - Much better teaser. What's there to say? I'm disappointed and this completely reinforces my statement. Fallout in Name Only This my friends is not Fallout 3, this is Fall Out.
  2. I am, you know why? Because everything I bought for RB1 will still work with RB2. My instruments will still work as well, and heck, I might be importing songs from RB1 disc too. The main selling points for RB2 is the song list and backwards compatibility on all fronts. I'm still getting GHWT, but I'm going to wait and see about it. I want my parepherials to work with the friking game. I will NOT buy a new set of everything just to get the game to run. Activision has made Guitar Hero into a joke. And here all we were thinking that Rock Band will suck because of MTV Games and EA.
  3. To be honest, all that I can think of Diablo 1, since that came out on PSX and PC. But I don't think D1 sold well enough on PSX (I don't got figures to back it up).
  4. Ripped RIGHT off Joystick because I am TOO excited. Harmonix has just unveiled the full song set list for the upcoming Rock Band 2. There will be a whopping 84 songs on the disc, and an additional 20 songs available as free DLC after the game's release. The set list is comprised entirely of master recordings, and features AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Bob Dylan, Metallica, Pearl Jam and more. The entire list is available after the cut. Rock Band 2 On-Disc Track List: 1. AC/DC "Let There Be Rock" 2. AFI "Girl's Gone Grey" 3. Alanis Morissette "You Oughta Know" 4. Alice in Chains "Man in the Box" 5. Allman Brothers "Ramblin' Man" 6. 5. Lilith was part of Morrigan's power that happened to gain sentience. She's a completely different character that plays differently to Morrigan too. Besides, Lilith gets absorbed by Morrigan after her body fails. Just saying, she finally gets a new model and they don't base it on any of the fluff already drawn of her.
  6. Saving Strike. Crossing is still possible.
  7. I even miss Madi too. That nigga was hype.
  8. Her name is Morrigan; not Mai Shiranui! He boobs have ALWAYS been big, the 3D model looks like they took her down 2 cup sizes. She IS a Succubus after all.
  9. I like his writing style though. It's very similar to mine from the looks of things, and he also tends to be very forgetful of the canon/lore at times (similar to me when I DM any campaigns I'm running in D&D/whatever table top RPG). And he knows it, which is what I like about him, he knows when he's fubbed the lore unintentionally.
  10. The Mutant Chronicles. Surprisingly good low budget (about 8M or something I heard) sci-fi flick based on the table top RPG of the same name. Using very similar methods that Sin City and Sky Captain used.
  11. Did you completely skip RTCW? There was supernatural written all over it.
  12. I'll be happy if they bring Mother 3 over officially. 3D remakes? Well that would depend, since M3 was originally suppose to be in 3D, I'd like to see their effort now that technologies have changed since 99.
  13. Are you serious? Mandetory reply: Yes.
  14. Have you ever seen The Departed? Now that movie makes the casting of Wahlberg as Payne seem perfectly logical! It will probably be a flop; the great tradition of video games being converted to movies is one that has been filled with failures. Wahlberg was also very good in Four Brothers too. He has a good reinforced tone of action about him.
  15. They took a turn for the more dark type of high fantasy then the normal type of high fantasy we are usually prone to seeing come from Bioware. LotR books and movies are more of the latter High Fantasy than the former.
  16. Returning to Castle Wolfenstein. Here's to hoping the MP is as addictive and balanced as ET. Seriously it should be called Returning to Castle Wolf :V
  17. Fans of Dungeons & Dragons: Forgotten Realms: Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 (+ their respective expansions), rejoice at the new Bioware project that is known as Dragon Age: Origins. Dragon Age: Origins, previously known as simply Dragon Age, is a computer role-playing game currently in development by BioWare for the PC.[1] Bioware has announced the game will be released before April 2009.[2] Unlike many of BioWare's previous titles, Dragon Age: Origins is not based on a pre-existing franchise; the game mechanics and setting are being developed by BioWare specifically for the game. Dragon Age: Origins also utilizes a new game engine named Eclipse. It has not been confirmed if it will feature a toolset for creation of fan-made content, and while multiplayer was initially planned, the focus of development is on the single-player campaign and multiplayer remains unconfirmed. BioWare co-CEO Ray Muzyka describes Dragon Age: Origins as a 'spiritual successor' to the Baldur's Gate series. - Wiki My personal opinion, unlike their more recent series of RPGs (Neverwinter, Mass Effect, KOTOR), this will rely more on the gameplay that was used for Baldur's Gate 1, refined in 2, peaked with Icewind Dale and perfected in Icewind Dale 2. The new engine also looks AMAZING. Much more refined then Aurora (NWN) and Electron (The Witcher, NWN2) and is named Eclipse. Which reminds me alot of the Infinity Engine in name (Baldur's Gate 1, 2, Icewind Dale 1, 2, Planescape: Torment). http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36033.html (since I can't embed)
  18. Damage mostly. There were reports of it all over the internet that the PS2 was the a more final build of the game at the time. Also, tons of people complain about MAH-VEL 2 infinities all the time. Like those who don't play MAH-VEL.
  19. Well they didn't go on a big ego trip ala John Romero, but they were hoping to build on their known success as the guys who developed Diablo 1 & 2. It seems like they bit off more then could chew when creating Hellgate because Mythos was suppose to be the game that fixed all their screw ups, but lo and behold, they screwed up BIG time with Hellgate because of the paying fee and an incomplete game that wasn't meant to be an MMO. What I'm surprised about is the amount of feedback HG: London got though, so it was decent for their first effort, but it was terrible first effort because it shafted practically everyone. Also apparently HG London is big in Asia though, so it's not a complete loss.
  20. This is a one liner akin to what Fatal posts.
  21. Flagship Studios' Closure Confirmed, All Staff Fired, All I.P. Lost Jul 12, 2008 at 2:33 AM - Andrew Burnes - 104 Comments Flagships's Community Manager, Taylor Balbi, has revealed, through sources, that all Ping0 and Flagship Studios staff have been made redundant. Employees were notified at a company meeting and subsequently informed that the offices will be officially closed on Saturday. Balbi went on to reveal that three of the studio's top brass dug into their own pockets to provide 30 days of pay to all employees. Word of the studio closure reached Korean distributor HanbitSoft, leading to the release of a statement regarding intellectual property control and the subsequent clarification by their American lawyers that included the following sentence: "It is unfortunate that Flagship turned down additional investments HanbitSoft offered to make that would have allowed it to keep its doors open." As also referenced in the legal release, HanbitSoft hopes to independently continue development of Mythos, to which it owns the rights thanks to a loan agreement enacted with Flagship. Comerica now owns the Hellgate: London rights through a similar loan agreement, and will likely continue Asian development with HanbitSoft. As for English-language releases of the two games, it is possible that the Asian companies would continue development, though in the case of Hellgate: London it is unlikely (Mythos has a far better business model and is attracting extremely positive press). Alternatively, the rights may be sold to Electronic Arts or other interested parties. In summary, Flagship's well is dry, all intellectual property has been lost, all staff fired, and the studio closed. It truly is the end of the line. Update: A Goon by the name of GLC, who claims to be a former Ping0 employee (thanks Hellgate Guru), said the following on the SA Forums: Former Ping0 employee checking in here. I feel bad for some of the talented guys on the staff who busted rear end to try and get a game out on a ridiculous schedule, but I think we all kind of saw this coming after the game came out and basically bombed. Flagship bit off way more than they could chew and made a lot of development and structural mistakes in how they went about things. They had a lot of big dreamers on staff, but not enough nitty-gritty people who knew how to get poo poo done. It sucks, but that's life I guess. I didn't always agree with the decisions of the leadership, but it doesn't surprise me at all to hear that three of them (probably Roper and the Schaeffers) dug into their own pockets to pay people. Nothing about them, Max Schaeffer in particular, ever made me think they were less than standup guys. I think it's less that they aimed too high than that they tried to aim that high and do it quickly, and they didn't do anything the easy way. They had their own server architecture, their own client, their own chat, their own graphics engine, their own everything basically. Plus they wanted a game that could support thousands of concurrent connections with no downtime, had an engaging single-player campaign, and could support an ongoing, persistent world. It was like picking everything that's hard to do in a game, and then putting it on a brand-new company (two of them, really) with people who hadn't worked together before. Plus you had Ping0 doing the back-end and multiplayer, working off a forked codebase, and trying to make sure that what they were designing was open enough that it could be marketed to other companies. And then Mythos, with a team working out of Seattle under Travis Baldtree (who is a loving genius, by the way), which had to fit into things somehow even though it wasn't as much of a priority. It was just a really chaotic situation all around. Hopefully the talented guys I met there will bounce back quickly, it's a lovely time to be unemployed in the bay area. Update #2: Guy Somberg, Flagship's final programmer and the Guy who wrote that infamous tirade, has modified his employment history on LinkedIn, which now reads as, "February 2005 — July 2008 (3 years 6 months)." Thanks Flagshipped. Update #3: Kotaku's closure story contains further confirmation from their own anonymous source. Update #4: Amol Deshpande, Chris Schillinger, Jesse Jones and Ray Li all list their Flagship-Ping0 positions as having ended July 2008. Update #5: Producer Patrick Harris is no longer employed by Flagship. Update #6: Eric Liu is no longer in the employ of Flagship-Ping0. Having served for seven months as a QA Manager and Automation Engineer, he was promoted in October 2007 to International Producer, a position he held until the studio's closure. Update #7: Flagship-Ping0's IT Manager, Brent Shinn, is the latest staffer to officially leave the firm's employ. Update #8: Grant Watters, Greg Brown and Jonathan McEvoy are the latest Flagship-Ping0 employees to have listed their positions as previous experience on LinkedIn. Update #9: Flagship-Ping0's Project Manager, Jack Wood, is now also an ex-employee. Jack had many important responsibilities, including: stakeholder, investor and regional distributor liaising; final say on all patch and product launches; and oversight of day-to-day end user support. Update #10: Lead Graphics Engineer, Chris Lambert, is the latest to go. Chris was with the company for four years. delicious pasta
  22. Which was subsequently expanded upon in the following years since the release of the game. It wasn't like they DUMPED all the lore right into your lap when the game first came out. Which was the point I was trying to get across.
  23. GC is an old guy. I'm led to believe even Jit knows what Comic-Con and PAX are and he's ancient. Too bad the East Coast doesn't get any spiffy stuff like that. Well, maybe NY Comic-con, but it's less scaled compared to it's San Diego counter part.
  24. No. Other gaming events have stepped up to take the plate, but what they did to E3 was like a giant smack to all the companies as to why spend hundreds of millions of dollars on something you'll only show for 60 seconds or less. Case in point: Halo 2 Trailer. They spent man hours and money on the TRAILER alone. They didn't even make all the assets for the friking game at the time. (I do miss the booth babes and the amazing amount of giant statues though)
  25. Well we've got Terrans (Space Marines + Imperial Guard sans the fanaticism), Zerg (Tyranids) and Protoss (Eldar). Although they've evolved in different ways, especially Protoss from Eldar, you can't help but draw parallels. Remember, at the time of Starcraft's release it's lore wasn't really fleshed out as it is today. After it ran it's course, now one could say that it's parallels with Warhammer 40k have slid a bit since it's initial release in 1997. Same with Warcraft, if it wasn't for it's (really expanded) lore, it would probably still hold it's place as that RTS game that happens to rip off WHFB. (WH Fantasy Battle came first before 40k, so yeah, that's just saying)
