  2. Oh please... Some thugged up rap ganstas again Ryu and Ken? Give me a break. Besides the original news dates back before Def Jam Vendetta was even announced. I seriously thought it was a joke when they first annouced it.
  3. They could exploit the Def Jam license thats for sure.

  6. The way I consider the way the DMCA was wirtten is as shotty like chinese characters on wet paper.
  7. wrong. Distributing ROMs by means other than the original hardware for unproduced unsupported hardware is legal if the person who downloads it either has permission from the copyright owner, has the original hardware, or after the copyright expired and 50 years has passed nobody steped forward to claim rights to that work and reinstate that copyright. about a year ago it was reported incorrectly that roms are okay and can be traded freely, but that was plain wrong and retracted a day or two later, but people being the way they are hang on to only what they want to hear. I once i heard most roms were legal, I jumped for joy. I didn't hear about the retrackmeant though :/
  8. Freedom of speech at it's best I suppose. People gotta stop saying it's a sin and stuff. I don't care how they live their life.
  9. Distrbuting roms of games that are no longer in production by an offical publisher is legal. Distrbuting roms of newer games that are still in production be it on the original system or a newer one is illegal according to the DMCA.
  10. Since under the DMCA law. Any program (in this case games/roms) that has been discontinued and not being distrubuted by an offical publisher is considered Freeware. When a game enters reproduction under any new media, the program (game/rom/iso) is considered illegal under the D.M.C.A. Technically, MAME roms are legal. And most of the Neo-Geo games (Metal Slug 3/4/5, KOF2k/2k1/2k2/2k3 are illegal because they are in reproduction under new media. This media is the PS2/Xbox DVD/CD systems.) The D.M.C.A. laws are shoddy to hell, but overall saying. If something is old, and not being distrubuted by any publisher/distrubuter onto any new media is consider freeware. Your (offically supported) Mame sets just got street legal. Even if their old games with new features. It is still considered the same game under the DMCA (Which is a sh!t law btw).
  11. I know how hard it is. I know people are greedy. But I still don't know why you couldn't rely on a few banners and a lower donation fee.
  12. Yes, actually I have ran an emulation site before. It failed miseribly because I took down the servers because I didn't feel like running it anymore. I did get screwed over, but I still did it. Without fees and what not. I even ran up a few voting schemes. People found ways to bypass it so I just took it down.
  13. Should be, but unfortunately this is the real world where, like you said, 'bandwidth costs money'. BTW, how much money have you donated? If you're like the statistics, there is a 99% chance you haven't. Why? Because while novel in practice, not enough people donate voluntarily to keep a server running. I used to run a Hotline server for free, with just about as many games as Edge had. What did I get? A pile of leechers that didn't even give me the courtesy of a thanks, but dowloaded as much as they felt like. I don't get my ISO's from sites. Since I don't warez isos anymore. I would donate, only if I was desperate in finding something that I terribly needed. Chances are I could pick up the title for even less then the one-time fee. Well hey, too bad. But what ever you do to keep it running isn't up to me. THIS IS THE REAL WORLD. People will donate if needed. Not pressured. Edit again: Were discussing on the one time fee thing. If we truely wanted to bash you. It would be a big giant attack of The Deep Ones.
  14. I say meh. People need to keep their servers up, and donations are required to keep them running. But if you keep handing it down to me and say "PAY PAY" I'll go else where or find somebody who is willing to share their account. As for the "Bandwidth isn't free" stuff, we know, stop bring it up. People here sure know about it. Will they listen? Maybe not since all they want is ONE iso at times.
  15. The Q3 engine is very powerful for being 7 years old. I hated SOF2 because of the hit-location damage. Gimme something like Call of Duty or Urban Terror and it's all good.
  16. Only poofy dragons go 'RAWR'. Try again. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAWR+6
  17. Ah crap, my bad. I get mixed up when ever RTCW is mentioned. I always think Ravensoft did it ;;
  18. Enable frames to view the page.
  19. BitTorrent version 3.2.1 baby. The most stable version of the offical BT client I like having seperate windows, easier to keep track of what I'm downloading.
  20. Well it's not going to be based on any of the current franchises such was Wolf, Quake, Doom. As most of the people know, Quake 4 is being worked on by Ravensoft(The guys who did RTCW).
