Part the IVth: The Chase To Be Continued
-
When I was really young my dad used to work for the now-defunct hardware company Wang. Because of that we had a computer (well...a wang at least) for as long back as I can remember. I used to play with it for hours - I don't even remember if there are any games on it, it had a 2 colour, green and black screen, and yet I used to play with it for hours on end. A little after that I got my very own Amiga 500, and from there I got into amiga basic, and of course playing games. I think we would have had a dos computer in between then, because I was very familiar with DOS commands before windows 3.1 came out.

Chapter III: Blue_Line fought back a yawn as he started his tenth consecutive hour of reading though the 1emulation forums. The boys at the office had still yet to manage to log in to N3wbie81's account, so the fatal text of the PM was still yet to be revealed. Of course, he could access that account at any time with the help of the forum's owner, Gamecop, but before he could do that he would have to eliminate Gamecop from the list of suspects; and that wasn't something he was willing to do just yet. Blue_Line had been unable to eliminate anyone. Blue_Line impatiently called the office. "Yeah it's me," he said. "Are you in yet?" He listened in for 30 seconds, then impatiently slammed the phone down. Damn, they still couldn't get in. Apparently it was because Gamecop was running at least 10 different firewalls - could that perhaps be because Gamecop had something to hide? No, there was no evidence that the firewalls had been installed recently, so for all he knew, the site had always been this heavily protected. He sighed and scribbled down his suspicion in his notebook anyway. That was all this case seemed to have so far - ambiguous and contradictory clues that left him more confused than he had been before he uncovered them. Sighing again, Blue_Line decided to take a break from reading the forums, to take a look at the multitude of irc chatlogs the goons from his office had managed to uncover from N3wbie81's computer. He should be thankful for the fact that n3wbie81 saved all his chatlogs. It provided him with a lot more evidence. But it meant he had to face the daunting task of reading through hundreds and hundreds of pages worth of logs. And from what he'd read so far, he hadn't come any closer to narrowing down the killer. In fact, he'd only been able to find more suspects. He had his suspicions about a user who seemed to be on the 1emulation irc channel fairly constantly - a user who often called him self "the wizard". It had taken him a while to realise that the multitude of names appearing on his chatlogs with [LNI] in front of him were all the same user - a user who posted on 1emulation under the name K'dash. Blue_Line liked to be able to summarise his suspects' motives with a single word, which always appeared just after their names in his notebook - next to K'dash's name was written the word, "jealousy". It seemed strange that anyone could be jealous of someone like n3wbie81, but he could see that K'dash really enjoyed being the first with, and reporting, video-game related news on 1emulation. The ne3wbie, probably applying the same seemingly limitless reserves of free time he used to post at 1emulation to searhing for video game news, often had several pieces of information that k'dash had not yet discovered. It seemed n3wbie81 enjoyed taunting k'dash in just about every thread k'dash started by one-upping him with juicy pieces of information. It clearly angered k'dash, and he had started flaming the n3wbie to anyone who would listen on the irc channel, any time n3wbie81 wasn't logged on. Then there was Weirdzangiege. The n3wbie, through either blind ignorance or a desire to annoy, persisted in calling Weirdzangiege German, despite the number of times Weirdzangiege insisted he wasn't. Every time N3wbie81 greeted Weirdzangiege on the irc channel, he would say "gutten tag"; he would persistently quiz Weirdzangiege about Oktoberfest; and he would constantly ask Weirdzangiege, "So what's the weather like in Germany?" The rest of his messages on the irc channel seemed to consist of posting constant spoilers for the tv show, "Neighbours" (which really seemed to annoy Ash_Crimson), and expounding that all forms of soccer, especially the European leagues "sucks donkey balls", which more than once seemed to put taratata's nose out of allignment. The irc chat logs also seemed to indicate chatroom moderator Disoblige as a suspect, due to the sheer number of times disoblige had kicked n3wbie81 off the chatroom, and the sheer variety of fish that disoblige had slapped n3wbie81 with in the intervals between those kicks. Blue_Line jumped out of his chair, stalked over to his kitchen and made himself his twelfth cup of coffee for the day. This, he thought to himself as he filled up the kettle, was going to be a LONG case.

http://www.research.att.com/projects/tts/demo.html There's a bunch of voices there, but beware, the foreign voices can't speak English (apart from the UK voices of course) -
Well, here is part 2: This could go on for a while though. To Be Continued....

I've decided I'm only going to continue the story if I get enough replies. But if I do get enough replies, I'll make it a "sherlock holmes" style mystery!

This was inspired by a reply from gryph in the "best scene for a horror movie" thread. So here's the first installment of the 1emulation horror storyTM. Who is N3bie81's stalker? What is the terrifying text of the mysterious private message? And what will happen to the N3wb? Find out in the next chilling tale of the 1emulation horror storyTM. To be completed: if I feel like it.

What is the Worst time you fell asleep?
random guy replied to Diso's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Have your family been diagnosed to have early stages of narcolepsy? What ???? Narcolepsy is a condition whereby you sometimes cannot control when you fall asleep. Falling asleep when walking would be the perfect example of what happens to narcoleptics. Perhaps you should see a doctor? -

I'd be willing to bet....no. Why don't you and whoever you need to call just get a program like mirc or icq so you can chat online for alot cheaper than calling internationally.

Hey, mine too. I think it could be converted to a portable oven with minimal effort. Jeffkong: And the Playstation doesn't have mature, dark games? To be quite honest, hell will freeze over before I'll buy a Bill-BOX....I'd rather get a GameCube instead. ...maybe I'm just different than most Europeans. The Playstation has many mature, dark games. I never said it didn't. I said the XBox is devoted more to the types of games US and European gamers tend to buy, so it may succeed in those places. Sony has many different types of games, but their next system isn't coming out for a year after the next XBox. If Microsoft can create the image, as Sony has, as the "cool system" they will be popular and dominate the US/European market before PS3's release. With their mature games, and their new looking graphics it won't be hard. Most casual gamers aren't going to wait until PS3 when they can get a system that looks almost 2 generations above it right then. This domination will also lead to much Third Party support, also Microsoft has more than enough money to buy exclusive developers. I don't think Japanese gamers will care much, because the types of games that dominate the XBox don't appeal to them. Also the XBox is foreign that also has a lot to do with it. And yet, with all that, Microsoft is still the devil.

What I would do (did) is get WinUAE and then get Amiga Forever or Amiga in A Box. That way you can get an os that is like the one that came with Amigas, only better!

All you played was Onslaught? Hmm. Well a supernode is something you have to capture to connect the dots all the way to the enemy's power generator. While you do that you have to make sure your enemy doesn't do the same to you so you have to destroy the powernodes that they build. UT2K4 comes with many other different gamemodes. There's Deathmatch (where people run around and kill), Team Deathmatch (where teams of people run around and kill), Capture the Flag (where teams capture each others flag and kill), Assault (where people must do certain objectives to win the map and kill people), Double Domination (where teams must capture and hold 2 points and score a certain amount to win and kill people), Bombing Run (kind of like Rugby with guns), Last Man Standing (like Deathmatch but you start out with a certain number of lives and last man standing wins), Mutant (dumb mode, I won't even explain it), and Invasion (where you and bunch of people fight of an invasion of bots.) And then there is Onslaught which you played which is about controlling nodes to connect the dots between your base and the enemy's and then destroying their power generator. hehe thanks for the info gryph. yea i had no idea what i was doing while playing ut2004.. after i get ut2004..someone play with me? yea? Yeah I will for sure but didn't you say halo looked better after playing the demo of ut2k4?

We need a professional intro for the radio show!
random guy replied to Alpha's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
There's nothing I can do about it! It's the word "radio"! None of the voice-bots can say it properly! Unless someone wants to record the intro words so I can stick it into a song, there's nothing I can do. -
Sounds like just another one of those urban legend email spams, only dressed up, with some fancy safety tips precluding it.

welcome back!

this one's even more annoying than the last one

Reminds me of a guy on crack. Anyway, this is driving me insane. What's the stupid code now? EDIT: I visited the website on that page, it says my version was pirated, and wouldn't give me the clue... probably because you're not at the official homepage - and yeah im pretty sure that's where you get the password from
