You know what this pretty much describes me perfectly. Dammit, all these things are designed to be vague. Don't fall for this crap, Fatal, fortune-tellers, astrologists, etc.... are only often right because they speak in ambiguous phrases. eg. 'You will reunite with an old friend'...that way they'll be right if you see someone you used to know, or if you start spending more time with a friend you already had, or even if an old TV show that you used to like comes back on. That way they're pretty much covered, no matter what happens to you over the next few weeks.

Probably because they try to hard to appeal to as wide an audience as possible, thereby ruining the appeal of the game for everybody (it'll be too easy for most gamers, too plain for violence-freaks, too violent for ultra-conservative people, etc... etc.... etc.....)

The Most And Least Reliable Source For News?
random guy replied to Boomer's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
If you go to the News Corp. wesbite (Murdoch's company) it says "Creating and distributing top quality news, sports and entertainment." Hmm...creating the news...like "Wag the Dog". Oh dear Well, everyone in Aus knows that Murdoch is not the most unbiased or ethical of news media owers, but you wouldn't think he'd come out and TELL you he manufactured news! -
Edited: accidental double post

Tomorrow : The 1st Legal Gay Marriage !
random guy replied to Mr.X's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Hell, yeah, I'm for gay marriages. I don't see what a big deal it is anyway, seeing as at least 50% of marriages end in divorce, and for that matter you can't really be against gay marriages for believing that marriage is sacred if you don't kick up a fuss about the ever increasing amount of marriages that are not held in a church (or mosque or temple or whatever), because that's flaunting the original 'religious' propositions of marriage anyway. And besides, these things are just a formality, gay couples just want a chance to be able to for example keep their home if the gay person whose name it was under (it couldn't be in both their names, because they're not married) happens to be die or something, or a chance to get joint custody or whatever if they split up. As it is gay lovers have basically no protection under the law, and, like it or not, they represent a sizeable portion of the population (I just learned in psychology that between 3-6% of adolescents come out in high-school; and roughly 6% of girls and 18% of boys this age report some kind of homosexual encounter). So all of you prejudiced people have to learn to accept homosexuals as part of our society; and giving their relationships the same degree of legal protection as our relationships is a damn good start. -

For Those Who Play Fighting Games
random guy replied to Captain FuKu's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I just play by my self or maybe occasionally with a friend. Why? Because 1) there's not that many people I know who still regularly play games, and 2) the arcades in this city suck, and gang-wannabes hang out there. Besides, I'm not playing $1or $2 just for one fight, that's just a waste of money ps I think it's not very accurate to assume that most people who play fighting games crave the competition, and yearn to one day win a championship - I think you'll find most people just play for fun (It seems as if you hardcore gamers sometimes forget that games are supposed to be fun. -
I think i'm the pig, but I don't believe in that kind of stuff anyway.

The Most And Least Reliable Source For News?
random guy replied to Boomer's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Well, technically the most reliable news source is Routers, because so much news passes through there that you're getting 24 hour round the clock updates. But I'm guessing you have to be a journalist to have access to Routers services. The most reliable source of news in Australia is probably ABC news ( http://www.abc.net.au/news ) because the ABC is a public broadcaster, and as such it (and perhaps SBS news) are the only sources that are not affected by market interests - all their funding comes from the government (although governents keep slashing their funding and accusing them of bias). All the other news sources in Australia, pretty much, are owned by four giant media monopolies. For least reliable, there's alot out there, from what I've heard I'd be tempted to say Fox news but I've never seen a broadcast so I can't make a judgement, so I'll say the Naked News. Sure it's entertaining, but I wouldn't exactly trust that show to keep me informed of breaking news, plus for some reason it seems so much harder to pay attention to that news. -
A Political Cartoon...my Reaction To Recent Events

...I forgot to mention: I don't like Bush very much, but does that give me permission to raise an army and invade the US to depose him? Of course not; so what right does Bush have to invade whichever countries he pleases, depose its leader, and set up a US friendly government? Also, the Bush administration has come out stating 'we will leave Iraq if its new Government asks us to' - very generous of them, except they are going to install a Government that doesn't ask them to leave. They're in their for the long haul - the US plans to set up FOURTEEN military bases in the Iraq area. This war is not over, and it isn't going to end for a long time. -

The U.S. did not INVADE iraq, they LIBERATED iraq. The mission was to remove saddam from power and thats what we did, but since we had to use massive force to remove him from power everything got kind of mixed up. So now that everything is mixed up now we have to "REBUILD" iraq, and the dead line is june 30, or so they say. Americans do not want to be in iraq, they want to go home, but it's our duty to clean up out BS that we left behind. The thing is that the iraqies do appreciate the U.S. from liberating them from saddam but hate our guts. WTF?! You dont thank some body and then tell them screw you, but he thats what the whole world does to us anyways. After losing so many men there was nothing to do but torture people t find what we wanted (WOMD) cuz I dont think it's right to risk so much on something and not getting anything in return. If the war was about oil WTF! is gasoline so expensive? You think we like fighting wars but, we dont. If you cant find what your looking for you find somebody else to help you or use them as a means of finding what or who you're looking for. One word for that: bullshit. How quickly you guys forget that before the Iraq war, the justification Bush gave for INVADING (yes, not liberating, INVADING) Iraq was to rid the country of WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction). How many WMDs did they find? Zero? Also, just before both the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war, the countries gave in but Bush ignored their pleas: in Iraq, Hussein agreed to let UN weapons inspectors in; that wasn't enough for bush. in Afghanistan, the leaders gave in and gave Bush permission to come in and look for bin Laden peacefully; THAT wasn't enough for Bush. In both cases the American Army (and the entire coalition of the wankers) INVADED these countries, causing extreme amounts of death and suffering for the people of those countries. And now, after months and months in Iraq, the coalition still hasn't found any WMDs - and seeing as the country has been reduced to rubble in 90% of the area, it's unlikely WMDs will be found. Now Bush tells his people, oh no the war wasn't about nukes, it was about liberating Iraq from Hussein. If that was true (and it transparently isn't) how come 1) the US wouldn't allow the intervention of the UN, an organisation that is to be trusted alot more than rogue armies led by right-wing facsists *and don't worry, I'm including my own country in that analogy*, 2)That was barely mentioned as a justification back when Bush had the chance to scare us all with tales of lone WMDS< and 3)it's up to the US to choose which leader is in power in the world, and even if it is, why did American governments take so long to choose to depose Hussein (and for that matter 4) why did the US give Hussein his position of power and lots of weapons in the first place? And yes, ultimately the war is without oil. The reason is the West (ie America, Europe etc...)only has about 50 years' worth of oil left. The middle east has more like 150 years of oil left. Okay now, do you see why Bush was so keen to INVADE Iraq, and why he's scrambling for justifications like the whole 'saddam was a bad man' one. I can't believe people (and I realise, not everyone) keep on falling for his bullshit. -

Maybe I was confused...I thought when you were talking about plane shifting you were just talking about being able to move 'north and south' as well as left and right - you know, like you can do in pretty much every 3d fighting game? What does plane shifting mean if it doesn't mean that? -

Thanks - yeah, I designed it so the guy was using an apple, but the 'browser' was modelled after ie6: that was just a private joke Yeah, and you and Agozer have managed to summarise things quite well (and in a way that didn't invite flaming, like with my comments). The American people are no doubt generally good, decent people, but 'America' sucks! -

Amen!! Now you're gettin' it!! BTW bad news is always the most popular and overplayed in the world too right? Believe me, I know that for a fact! But also I think I gave you the wrong impression...its not like I came to this board expecting you all to be redneck hicks who advocate invading any country they can spell, I realise that Americans, just like everyone else in the world, will generally be good, decent people. But when something like the Iraq war happens, and the majority of the public is initially in favour of it even though 1) it would mean the US was all but giving up on finding bin Laden, and 2) the reasons for the war were absolutely false pretences from the beginning, and have since been proven as such, I dispair a little. But I dispaired the same of my own country, because in a poll the week before the Iraq war, something like 66% were against the war, and then the week after we went in, about the same percentage were in favour of it! Oh, yes, don't worry, I dispair about the 'majority' of my own country's views as much as I dispair about the 'majority' of your country's views....anyone whose heard of Pauline Hanson *shudder* will know what I mean. -

Bloody hell, man, it's comments like that that make me have a stereotypical view of all Americans. Don't you think it's a bit much to want to bomb an ENTIRE COUNTRY for an act of violence commited by a few individuals, that even the clerical leaders in Iraq are calling a disguisting act of violence! Well, Bush invaded Iraq, does that give Iraqis the right to nuke the US? Let me say again that terrorist acts like these are commited by people who happen to inhabit a country, not the whole country! Iraq didnt cut that guy's head off, some lone extremists did! Just like Afghanistan didn't fly planes into the WTC, an international terrorist organisation did (and just like America didn't invade US, the army did, as ordered by George W. Bush). Learn to differentiate between the acts of a few extremest Muslims, and the acts of every single other Muslim. Ps I am aware that you've backed down from your position of wanting to bomb Iraq, and I agree, the people involved should be caughed and punished. But that doesn't mean that every Iraqi should be punished for this act, because alot of them are as disguisted by it as we are. Don't criticise me for stereotyping, and then stereotype the iraqis as all being mad terrorist bombers, because that's a worse stereotype than the one I sometimes battle with. -

You guys are the proof to me that the general image of America that is being portrayed in the news at the moment is not representative of the whole US, and hopefully, that means the majority of the US (although some of you have some weird views on international politics though) Edit: sorry for being too...verbal for you guys, but this is how I normally talk politics (I guess that's why I haven't made any friends in my political communicaton class)! -
But I thought signing up to be a 'premium member' or whatever it is at RomShare cost about $30 a month? Not that I'm defending that site, I think it's rediculous what he's doing, but I just thought the costs of getting a pay account at romshare were about the same.
