GMT = Grenwich MEAN Time... EST = Eastern Standard Time. Grenwich is a little city in England that invented the clock or something, because that city uses the "mean time" for the world. That means, that anything on its lattitude is the same timezone (and likewise to anybody on the EST latitude). Look at an atlas or a globe. There will obviously be the horizontal lines (equator, tropic of cancer, etc...) but there are also some vertical lines. These are the timezones. Each zone is one hour difference. So if you are +2 to grenwich mean time, you are two lines away from the LATITUDE of Grenwich (nothing to do with the longditude). <and if its 9pm est, and est is +2 to GMT, GMT would be 7pm) Also, if you follow all the lines to their point, you will notice that they all converge at the artic/antarctic. This is why there are 6months of summer + 6months of winter in these places, because the timezones all intersect. The summer 6 months is actually one long "day" and the winter six months is one long "night".

favourite web-comic/cartoon/diversion site?
random guy replied to random guy's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I thought of some more cool ones: http://www.collegeuniv.com - a flash cartoon about a university which accepts apes as well as people! http://www.newgrounds.com - LOTS of cool stuff here - games, cartoons, and more! -
What's your favourite "web comic/cartoon/silly flash game" site on the internet? For me its probably http://www.homestarrunner.com - Strongbad's emails are HILARIOUS! Anyone else ever been /|\ there? <edit: just had to fix | the link!>

You could have a lord of the rings style rip-off - Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have all banded together to create the "one copy-protection chip to rule them all", and the only way Gamecop can get rid of it is to fling the only prototype into the fires of Mount eDOOM, deep under the recesses of the decaying Silicon Valley.

I have a "logitech dual action gamepad". I'm quite satisfied with it, the only problem is it treats the left analogue stick as X- and Y- axis and the d-pad as a pov hat. I had no problem in Mame adjusting it so that both the analogue stick and d-pad move the characters, but my other emulators don't seem to be able to recognise the POV-hat.

What ever happened to "Family Guy"?
random guy replied to random guy's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Yeah, and Abraham Lincoln killed Isaac Hayes with a shotgun! -
No, seriously, I've heard her mentioned in like a thousand comedies but I had no idea who she was.

What ever happened to "Family Guy"?
random guy replied to random guy's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I just came rushing back here to post that I just found out that new episodes are on the cards, I really hope they decide to, that would be awesome. But I hope they don't tone it down at all, it had better be ruder than ever! -
Whatever happened to Family Guy? Its the funniest show I have EVER seen. Stewie, the megalomaniacal baby hell-bent on world domination, Brian the alcaholic dog who was at one point addicted to cocaine, Meg (at various points we have found out that she used to have a tail, and killed her twin sister, but its never talked about again), Quagmire, the pervert neighbour... I'm watching an episdode on my pc right now, and Peter, the father, just got hit by a bolt of lightning and left his body for a near-death experience, and then reaches into his unconscious body's pockets and mugs himself. It had 3 seasons and then got cancelled. WHY?? It's humour is a lot more subtle than South Park (it never had a live-motion close up of a girl giving birth on the show). Also, I've heard news of a family guy movie, but I dont know if its gonna ever be made. *If anyone's interested, about 3/4 of the episodes are at http://spooner.alltunes.co.uk in easily downloadable (but crap quality) 6mg files. More are added regularly*

Hmm..and I thought I was the oldest person here at 20! I notice gamecop still hasn't posted here yet...I must admit to being curious

Don't know how they got those figures, but it wouldn't surprise me. The story is all about how game companies are trying to entice more girls to play games with titles like "babysitter's club", "barbie", and "Nancy Drew" games. Surely no self-respecting gamer, male or female, would play games like that? Just who the hell IS Nancy Drew anyway?
-
100 characters? And that's only one half of the combination! I wonder how many characters will make it to the actual game.

The "mainstream" issue is a good point. But you guys have it the wrong way round. I don't see "pokemon" "dragonball Z" or "yugi-oh" on any of those lists, because, well, they are crap (actually dragonball z is pretty good once you watch about 10 episodes in a row just to get some sense of plot continuation!) It is these titles that are considered "mainstream" anime titles. Just because they are popular doesn't make them good. Another thing, though, is that when these "mainstream" episodes get dubbed, they lose alot of the original meaning. To take an example, in the US-dubbed verion of "Sailor Moon" Malachite is male and Zoichite is female and they are a pseudo-couple. In the Japanese version Malachite and Zoichite are active lovers, and whats more, they are both male. There are also a lot of dirty jokes that get completely removed from "Dragonball Z" (in the original Japanese version Master roshi (I think) is called "Mr Pervert". The point is, when anime becomes mainstream it gets bastardised. Who here perfers watching anime with japanese subtitles to the english dubbed versions?

My favourites in a rough order of favourite-ness: Excel Saga Ranma 1/2 Kodomo No Omocha (Child's toy) Neon Genesis Evangelion Rurouni Kenshin Maison Ikkoku (by Rumiko Takahashi - the woman (???) who wrote ranma 1/2 - anyone who has seen Ranma will know why I am surprised a female wrote it) Marmalade Boy Love Hina Tenchi Muyo Irresponsible Captain Tylor Cowboy Bebop Cardcaptor Sakura (Shut up ) Slayers Noir Also, my favourite movies (not counting movies made of series') Castle of Cagliostro Ghost In The Shell Ninja Scroll Battle Angel Alita It's so hard to choose! I probably missed some important ones in there. I would probably have put "astro boy" and the Macross series/robotech in there if I had seen them in years, but I haven't. I've found this one crazy anime comic in which a guy suddenly finds this naked chick with a crush on him in place of his right hand. It's called, "midori no hibi" and the "scanlations" are here ps if you haven't seen the top 3 animes in that list - what are you doing? Those 3 are the funniest anime series' I've seen full stop.

X-box mod-chips cost about $50 Australian. I don't know where you live but there will probably be a vendor near you that sells them. If not, this site : http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/ sells them, just click on the "x-box" link on the left panel note that this is an Australian vendor though but I think he ships overseas...but also your X-box may have to be the type they sell in Australia. Check those details out before ordering! He will install the chip himself for an extra $50 however you would have to send your x-box to him through the mail (and pay for postage). Somebody near you can probably do it, though I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself as it requires soldering with a small-point soldering iron (that's if its anything like the PS2 anyway).

I recently got a new gamepad for my PC. It is a "Logitech Dual Action Gamepad" - it looks basically like a PS2 gamepad - same dual analogue sticks, same number of buttons (12), the only thing it doesn't have is "dual shock" support, but oh well. There's only one (slight) problem though, I thought my emulators might have trouble with recognising the analogue pads, but in fact it is the opposite - the left analogue stick is "up, down, left and right", while the d-pad does nothing! Does anyone know how I might be able to rig it so that I can use either both or just the d-pad for some games?

Anyone heard about the new PSP? That's PlayStation Portable - Sony has designed a handheld console to compete with the GameBoy Advance. It looks funky. Check it out here. Also, the discs the games will come on are "Universal Media Discs". Does anyone have any idea what these are? Also, do you know if a CD or DVD drive could write to them? Apparently, it will be released in September or so...

Well, you also might want to try booting the game different ways, for example if you are running from ISOs or whatever, first try the "boot ISO" option, if that doesn't work mount the iso in Daemon tools or something and run the "PS-EXE" on the disc, or try "boot CD" from the virtual drive.

ITs okay, guys, I found out (after downloading a p1 twice) that the only problem was that some of the files were called "svc-x#" and some are called "svc_x#". Once I renamed the files to all be svc_x#" it was all good. Stupid lines! If you'll look carefully at my original post, you'll see that I mentioned from the outset that I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum. I meant to put it in "regular arcade" or "neo geo" emulation, and accidentally put it in the MAME section
-
Yay! Here I was trying to patch and repatch my rom a dozen times, when all I needed to do was change some stupid lines from - to _! Now I finally get to have SVC chaos looking good at a decent framerate!
-
any idea where to look?
-
When I try to run SVC chaos in NeorageX it says "unable to load program roms". Any ideas? EDIT: Whoops, I just noticed that I put this in the wrong forum, sorry.

Does anyone know which version of Kawaks (apart from the 1.46 bit) the guy in the pictures in the above forum ( http://excoboard.com/exco/thread.php?forum...7&threadid=3479 ) was using? I'm keen to get me a copy, as it supports SVC chaos, Mslug5, PI Matrimelee, Garou AND ROTD. But...what did that guy mean about his pics being a fake? Is it a fake that they support those games?

The version of ePSXe I have comes with a setup wizard, making it a breeze to setup. Note that you have to specify the directory where your plugins are, otherwise you will not be able to choose any plugins *maybe that is the problem you are having?*

Well, since KOF2003 is emulated..
random guy replied to Lightsier's topic in Arcade Emulators [/pc/arcade]
I actually quite like Rage of the Dragons. The first time I saw it I was like "what the...who decided that it'd be a good idea to combine Bust A Move with a fighting game?" but I reckon the graphics are cool. I like the really cartoony graphics, although Power Instinct Matrimelee has more cartoony graphics and is also a better fighting game I think (I like that every character can double-jump in the air, for example).
