  1. For those of you who don't mind a little girth.
  2. Paranormal Activity. It was pretty good I mean, its obviously just a movie but some scenes were pretty creepy. HOWEVER... I vow never again, ever that when a seriously scary movie comes out in theaters, to go watch it at theater because seriously... i'm sitting there trying enjoy the fucking movie and I can understand the occasional girl squealing and talking, but when everybody starts saying shit out loud to the whole theater its fucking annoying. You know I payed $12 dollars for this shit and if you can't stfu because you're too nervous and scared you need to goof-off with your friends to lighten the mood, don't watch the fucking movie! Goddamn... never again. As far as scary movies go, 9/10. Some things didn't make any sense logically but i'll let you watch and see for yourself.
  3. Ding! I just hit 80 last night in WoW. Took... three weeks? From 44-80 (I stopped playing my Druid at 44 over a year ago). Considering I work 9:30-6:30 i'd say thats not bad.
  4. Well, Stargate Universe just started airing. Three episodes in and I dunno if you've watched the previous series', they're good and all, but they're a bit hoaky compared to SGU. It seems like they're going for more of a dramatic, serious undertone in this series and with Robert Carlyle as a lead its looking pretty good so far.
  5. Speaking of the moon, Lol how many of you guys believe/don't believe we actually landed there?
  6. Lol oops I meant to quote O-Fear, not you. My mistake but I agree, make'em go undertaker on you when you work it proper.
  7. Lazy eye bro. A slight lazy eye. Sometimes it works as long as its not too severe, like on her.
  8. Now that's a mannequin. English fashion model/actress coming out in The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. I dunno if she's what others would consider "HOT" but there is something about her looks that's... engaging.
  9. Kanye West becoming a meme. What more does he have to offer the world?
  10. G.I. Joe. Just didn't like Cobra Commander's mask. And Rachel Nichols is hooot~ 7/10
  11. I believe retaining knowledge has mostly to do with how interesting a subject is to you. It's easy when you're having an awesome time learning the shit, but quite the opposite when you're bored to death. Some people, who I am envious of, have the discipline to force themselves to learn things they despise. I myself am probably a sloppy studier. I take notes in class, and not necessarily to review but to write it down while the action itself helps you to remember something better than just hearing it and also going back to it before a test. Beyond that, I simply attempt to read the required material but as I do it I do try to filter out the stuff that I believe is unimportant and won't be on a test. You should definitely gauge a professor for how they administer tests and what type of things he/she commonly tries to throw at you during exams, as opposed to things he/she blatantly leaves out. A nice professor will tell you exactly what you need to know and that should be self-explanatory. I do this however on a procrastinating basis. Study groups? Fuck that. Although they're probably good for you. Unless there are hot chicks. Flash cards? Sometimes they can be perfect for studying, and other times more work than they're worth and utterly useless. It depends on the type of exam. If its a lot of memory recall on specific vocabulary and their content, dates and events, people and their achievements, flash cards are useful. If the exam is based on bluebook paragraph answers intended for comprehensive critical thinking (basically regurgitating the views and opinions your professor lectured you on) than they're not as useful. I personally can't stand cafe's and those people with their macbook pros and shit, trying to study or write or whatever. A good study session for me would include some a snack, a Monster or some other energy drink(s) and not forcing yourself to study more than you actually feel like. Cramming is bad and although for some like myself can do it because of procrastination, you generally don't retain the information afterwards and you feel sick during because you're throwing a lot of material at yourself to cover. Its difficult for us gamer junkies but proper studying is mostly just consistency. A sufficient amount every week and not delaying it until the last day before an exam. An hour or two a weekend or maybe more depending on the material and reviewing before the exam with your notes or your flash cards and you should be fine. If you still fail, its the fucking professor's fault. For serious.
  12. I can sleep easily, but I just dont want to. So I end up falling asleep when i'm extremely exhausted after a whole day of gaming or working/gaming and getting 4-6 hours of sleep before doing it all over. My friend gets high regularly on ambien and some other concoction he created because he's an insomniac. It got so bad to the point of him developing stomach ulcers and whatnot. The drugs probably didn't help either.
  13. Might I also add that we are glad you and your kids were not injured or worse during this debacle.
  14. Wow. I'm surprised by the amount of people here who I can relate to on this topic. I haven't finished college but I went for 5 years or so (part-time) trying to figure out what I want to get into and I was mostly taking art classes. Eventually I had to find a job living with my sister sharing an apartment and I ended up landing an intern position at a graphic design studio (ironically, through a friend I met while at school). I was at that job for... 2.5 years before the recession forced the corporate heads who owned us to shut us down but my boss offered me a position at a company she was moving to with several other co-workers so I basically jumped ship with them and have been here since March. Now mind you, I did say I haven't graduated and that hasn't gone uninvolved as the whole time i've been working, i've been doing so on a permanent free-lance basis with no benefits and payed vacation time. But i'm getting experience and if I do go back to school I guess I have a field I can work toward based on that. What I see from a lot of you, and something I can relate with is that those of you who don't really get affected by support from other people saying "you can do it!" and what have you, is because its an inherent self-doubt and a need to prove to yourself, to motivate yourself. The words of others isn't what's going to stir you. It's the same for me, people telling me I can do it or should really doesn't do anything. A lack of motivation won't be filled by someone else's words (usually) and not for duration, if at all, unfortunately. All I can say is having worked, going from a systems archive intern to designing for Warner Bros. Home Entertainment packaging, the experience has helped me realize that when I was younger and always telling myself things like being a doctor or some other professional profession is impossible was really silly. Now, after having worked a job, I know if I sat down and stuck with a goal to be one of these things I could. It's not that hard. When you work in a field and not an odd-job and you know... you don't fail and get fired or whatever, it changes your perspective on your own ability and something like school... it doesn't become an obstacle but a ladder. And that's how I think a lot of young people treat college... as an obstacle. One final hurdle before success and thats a big myth. Yes, it is a goal to overcome but School has nothing to do with money and everything to do with helping yourself push your weight around in the world of working. That little diploma gives you access to doors letting you in (not necessarily succeeding) because you graduated and to make demands like a salary and benefits. What I find the more difficult question is, on top of just trying to figure out what you want to do or if you should try to strive for that dare-to-be-great situation, is: Does what I want to do have to do with my own sense of self-content or, money? Working changes your perception of the whole college system. It changes from becoming less of a social-status denominator and more of a utility available for you to broaden your tools at your disposal for increasing your own chances at succeeding at work. Like a big list of courses and not "College" followed by a sigh of anguish. Don't get too caught up with what you think you should do, like what's "appropriate" for who you are because you're just wasting time... if you really knew what you were "meant" to do, motivation wouldn't be a problem. You don't know what you want to do because you just don't know what you'd enjoy or possibly be good at but you have that idea in your head that it should be something special or unique, a niche role just for you well.. for some people they find something to fill in that gap. But for others, like a lot of you here who i've read posts in this topic, its just one big grey area and the same applies to me. But i've been working, I need to continue working to support myself and other things too will play a factor in how you approach what you will do with your life... like a girlfriend. And not just any girlfriend but one you want to move out with and live life with. And working part-time shifts at an odd-job isn't going to make that easy or fun. To those of you who are still under the age of 21 and not sure of what to do, try and get into a university. Transfer from a CC if you must, you know take the loans out for tuition and try hard once you graduate at landing a salary job of at least 60k a year because paying off those loans, pain as it is, will be worth it in the long run as the success of working in your field will benefit as you get older. To those of you who are older like me, 26, you know... go back to school and you don't have to graduate at a University but goto class for a vocation of some sort. Nursing is always prolific and male nurses are in demand as they are physically stronger (yes, lifting people and shit matters) so they don't suffer as many injuries for downtime or need to take maternity leaves out of the year for months at a time so they get payed more (and it does pay well). But generally, try and get a job that has opportunity for promotion on a professional level. You know, that senior-, executive- title earned from experience and time. This may help in deciding what you may want to do. Edit: As for those of you who have that dare-to-be great aspiration... you really gotta put yourself out there to succeed, on top of being talented at your craft. Being a writer, actor, musician, etc. you're not going to get anywhere by being idle in that career. You really have to sell yourself and ENJOY putting yourself out for the opportunity to lend itself to you, so people recognize you as a person with merit and drive and hopefully, skill/talent. To everyone who has worries about life and where it will lead, and this is probably the best lesson my dad ever taught me: Know that nothing in life is easy. Luck is exactly that, luck but even then most luck happens by finding ourselves in situations we normally aren't in and only having put ourselves there. Success won't come to you casually... it has to be in the line-of-sight and on target and you have to just GRRR WANT! NEED! I WILL HAVE IT! If you want to be happy, have the things you want in life available, find yourself in that place you hoped for whether its a home or the workplace, your lover... just gotta grind at it yo. Grind.
  15. Press Charges and demand social services investigate her situation so she'll be threatened with losing her child. Maybe that'll wake her up. Maintain a restraining order on her for if she pulls anything she'll just get slammed again. I'd set up cameras too right now as a precaution in case she gets any ideas.
  16. Which seems like the complete opposite for games like Guilty Gear, Melty Blood, BlazBlue (unless you use Nu, or your char has a bad match up VS Nu, or you use Tager ) or any of the recent KOF games at intermediate to high level play. Granted, the keep-away play style didn't really come apparent in SF4 until it came out on console. Now when SSF4 comes out, everyone will figure out the tools to defeat the once "exclusive" console characters (so random fyi if I end up playing someone here, choose any console character and your probably gonna roll me because I don't know shit about them). It too depends on preference and not everyone will always be offensive or defensive all the time but those titles like GG or MvC are purely offensive in nature. And you don't have to just sit back and defend all the time to play like a turtle, it depends on who you're using.
  17. Turtling can't be helped as advanced gameplay always generally leans towards it.
  18. That's some pretty weak keyart.. Anyway. Star Trek. 9/10.
  19. Fuck yeah! Cody! I've wanted him back since SF3 was first released man. Loveit. But damn... no Urien!?! How can this be!!!? Still, Dudley coming back is sweet he was one of my favs. Adon, one of my favs from Alpha but I dunno.. maybe Rolento or Sodom might've been better?
  20. I hate that stuff, it's quite disturbing. alot of porn today is so geared towards being shocking and gross. it's more like watching a car accident then people having sex. Yeah, I agree was trying to be sarcastic lol. I mean a little deep-throating can be arousing but when they look like they're suffering and crying... and all the while you're thinking "man.. they're doing that for money?" kinda makes you eh.
  21. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. Nothing like a good 'ol Warner Brothers Animated cartoon. Had a lot of cameos but overall seemed a bit too G-rated, and the animation wasn't up to par. Wish they'd get serious like Batman: Gotham Knight was and really impress the fans like myself. Kevin Conroy and Clancy Brown, always a plus. 7.5/10 (for fun value)
  22. C'mon man.. she isn't that bad comparatively to what's out there. But her thumb does look odd lol. Maybe she's a fingernail biter like Elijah Wood?
