are you running the iso off the hard drive using a virtual drive? or a cd-r? or the actual gd-rom? I have the spanish ikaruga and it runs great. anyways if it's the original gd-rom forget it, it won't work. if it is a cd-r it might have been burnt wrong I'd say test it in a real DC to see if it self boots. and rip the iso from it and use deamon tools or something similer to run the iso.

lighter fluid or wd-40 work well at getting goo off from stickers and those anti theft strips. they also take gum off your shoes make sure you take the inserts and disc out of the case first!

the solderless mods that I know of require a swap anyways so a flip top would do the same thing. either way you'd need swap magic and do a swap everytime you play. if you don't mind that the fliptop works well. thats what I had on my ps2 for about a year before my ps2 died. (NOT related to the flip top or swaping.)

yeah cd player here. but it sounds like the tape is to tight. as the auto reverse works off tension. when the tape resists teh player it reverses.
