For Those Who Didn't Believe In Sf4's Production.
Inky replied to veristic's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I wish I was a capcomologist *looks up the university of capcom southernn california* tuition is gonna be a beotch to cover. -
consoles are generally 5 years inbetween. the snes to n64 was way late and the saturn to dc was way early. part of both systems downfall.

And saying that Street Fighter 4 is in production is like saying Power Stone 4 is in production someone told me on another forum that powerstone 4 IS in production. and he would know so it is true! some yahoo in a forum can say whatever they want and do thier homework and sound like they know what they are talking about but it's all just crap. did this guy in the snk-capcom forum know about the sf3/SFAnniversary bundle before it was officially announced by capcom? prolly not. -
that I dunno. maybe worth a try tho. for the cost of a mouse and a xbox extension cable.

shiba if you are half way handy you can make a usb to xbox adapter. since the xbox port is just an oversized usb port its just a matter of cutting and splicing wires. I'm sure a keyboard will work like that prolly a mouse too.

from xbox-scene: hmmmm. commence arguing
-
damn, I guess you're out of luck then. you'd figure M$ would bring out a good FPS controller or a mouse keyboard setup. since FPS is a big selling point for XBX
-
have you tried the one marketed as an FPS controller. I can't remember the name but it's like camo or olive green, with long handles kinda like pistol grips. I've seen it at gamestop and bestbuy. I haven't tried it but it got a good review in xbox magazine. I just use the controller s as I don't play to much FPS.

as for the stick. it has a definite center. it just feels loose. it's hard to explain. I have figured out the button layout. the black and white buttons are on the far right white on top (fierce punch) the black on bottom (fierce kick). the R is the one on the bottom left (snk A) the L is the one off to the left between the stick and other buttons. back is on the right side start is on the left side. (look at the pic on redoctane you'll see what I mean.) as for an xbox to pc converter. an xbox port is just an oversized usb port and you can make a converter easliy with an old xbox extension cable and a usb mouse or something like that. there are guides on the internet along with software. I think there is a faq on it at xbox-scene.

all right I've been playing with the stick for a few hours now and I am pleased with the results. so here it goes. My review of the Impact V-series stick for XBox. Price: on sale for 22.95 US + S&H Available from www.redoctane.com Tested with: Capcom Vs SNK 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, KOF 2k2, SFA3, Garou: Mark of the wolves. the first thing I noticed was the size and heft of this thing. it weighs a good 7 pounds and the measurements are: 13.5 inches wide, 10 inches from front to back, 4.5 inches tall, and the stick is 3.5 inches tall with a ball top. next thing I noticed is the cord is a bit short at 6 feet, invest in a cord extension. there is no memory card port (I wasn't expecting one) so no voice chat in CvsS2. there were no instructions and the buttons aren't labeled, so it was trial and error getting each emu set up correctly. the main stumbling block being the black and white buttons and the L and R buttons. also since there aren't any analog sticks you'll need to keep a standard controller plugged in to access menues in Kawa-x and Fbax as they require the right stick to activate. (unless someone knows another way to do it) The start and back buttons are on the sides of the stick much like pinball flippers so they don't get in the way in the heat of battle, the overall button configuration mimics both SNK and Capcom styles well. construction seems solid with all wood (prolly press board) coated in the same stuff arcade cabs are coated in. there is a spoungy pad on the bottom so the stick doesn't slide all over the coffee table. it also felt fine in my lap. The buttons are responsive and feel arcade quality. the stick feels a little loose and sloppy but it did what I wanted it to do so I dunno if it's just me, as I haven't used a stick in quite some time and am a bit rusty with this type of setup. I haven't opened up the stick to see the connections but I think I'd be able to replace the stick with one from happ controls pretty easy if I want to later. overall I'd recommend this stick to anyone who is in the market for an arcade style stick for their XBox. Positives: Price, button layout, construction. Negatives: Sloppy feeling stick, short cord, buttons not labeled. exept for the stick feel I couldn't ask for more. and even though it felt sloppy I was still able to pull of all the moves with only dragon punch movements not coming out every time. as I said this may be becouse I haven't played with a stick in years.

there here! 3 days for the second lowest priced shipping, not bad. I'll post up my review after I have a few hours to put them through thier paces. and try to get some pics of different angles for those that wanted them. should be up tonight

agreed. although I already have svc:chaos and the sf 15th anniversary for da ps2.

ok go to the goodwill, salvation army, any other thrift store you can think of. you can find a tv there with s-vid for cheap. I got a 32 inch with s-vid and hella rca jacks for 65 bucks. I got a 27 inch with s-vid for 40 bucks. if you don't find anything on the first trip, keep checking sooner or later one will come up that fits your needs.

well if it looks like a long time for the xbox I'll buckle and get it for ps2. I'll have to dust it off. online play should be a shoe in. with the relative success of both ps2 online and live as of late. it would be a big mistake for any fighting game not to include an online option. hopefully I get some broadband action by this summer.

put it on xbox and I'm sold. although am glad I didn't pay for my "imported" (wink-wink) SF anniversary disc. it's not all that. sf3 has to come out on another system, my DC isn't what it used to be

jeffy k used to do a column on www.somethingaweful.com it was pretty funny all in 1337 speak. mostly having to do with unreal tournament and h4X0r1ng. that was a few years back. guess I'm showing my age. heheh

I knew it! Disoblige is jeffy k incogneto.

I never even thought of atomiswave! or CPS3 for that matter. this could be interesting. I'm gonna look into the "build your own supergun" idea alittle more. just as a dream project. I know I won't be seeing it through anytime soon

they aren't that important to me. the memories are tho, and I fixed that while you were posting.

no nead for a modchip bootdiscs work fine. you can either get a fliptop or make a slidecard. (google it for instructions) I've been using bootdiscs and a fliptop with no problems for 2 years. I originally got the fliptop cuz my PS2 took a header off the entertainment center and the drawer wouldn't open all the way anymore. it came with the swapmagic bootdiscs and I haven't looked back since.

MTV2 is doing a thing on Nirvana right now. it's kinda hard to watch cuz that was like the soundtrack to my last 2 years of high school. lotsa memories of when I didn't have any responsabilities. makin' me want to dig out my nirvana cds *sniff* they really need to put out a nirvana box set. I'd buy!

yeah I am a fan of troma and full moon, hammer, EI, and pretty much any other low budget horror studio past and present. I can watch any horror movie no matter how lame or unintentionally funny. heheheh my favs are the hollywood classics and 80's italian

yeah if I could float the initial cost of a supergun and 2 or 4 slot board I'd be in in a heartbeat. I am always seeing mvs carts for cheap. it's the hardware & aes carts that kills ya.
