I'm running an anthlon 64 x2 4800+ 2.5 ghz and 4 gigs ram I've got no complaints, my weak link is my vid card. a $100 geforce 8500. for basic actions like web surfing, word processing light photoshop, burning dvds torrenting and stuff it is just fine. it also has no problems running older games at full settings and some newer games at medium settings. if I updated my graphics card I'm sure I wouldn't have any problems running anything current. If you aren't making a monster gaming rig, I see no reason to go overboard.

every time you play a game, on live or not. there is information about the game saved to the internal memory, so when you connect, live can check all your games. so just being disconnected from live is not enough. the main thing is good burns, burn em slow on good media (verbatim is what most people use) check your back ups with abgx360 before you burn them. if it doesn't pass every check then don't burn it. don't play super early releases. It's that simple.

it's all about proper backups. if your backups are good then MS will not notice you.

you say it is modded so pull your face plate off, if there isn't a seal or if it has been broken don't even bother sending it back. they won't fix it if the little silver seal sticker is tampered with.

are you sure I think I was on 3.52 m33 when i did it. well anyways all you need to do is get the M33 version you want and flash from the MS.

just connect your psp to wifi and use the update feature. it will update to the latest m33. last time I did it it updated to 5.0 M33

when I was using mame I was using mame 117++. which seemed fine.

if all your games are working and everything works like you like it, I see no reason to go updating. there are so many different mame releases that it's almost impossible to keep up on them. Robert posts news on Mame updates all the time.
