Cookies NOT tied to IP address
Hard Core Rikki replied to ken_cinder's topic in Suggestions Box [/feedback]
Maybe caused by hardened cookies (blanking on exact term). If thats it, properizing it should have it cease. It could explain why also on a single workstation, you can get logged out after some time/have trouble staying logged in (24hours? Assuming thats the issue at hand). That being a safety measure (and logouts an unintended possibility but normally fixable) and seeing how 1emu was attempted to be breached in the past, it could be wise to keep it and just fix the shortcoming. -
no$gba wins by default, Id say. Seeing how Desmume and iDeaS have progressed a lot since the time when no$gba ruled the rooster, it'd be worth keeping an eye on both of them. I'll admit a personal bias towards Desmume due to having its code available publicly.

Welcome around, new face ;)Having followed emulation since zophar's days ('99), I slightly lost count of the years. Things sure advance swiftly enough with every year.

What are you listening to? Part 69

"The Next Door - Indestructible" (Street Fighter IV's intro music) -
For those specs, you should handle the following nicely; - Playstation 2, with PCSX2. Faster and more compatible than ever. - Wii/Gamecube, with Dolphin. Get a recent unofficial build, it improved big time. - Nintendo DS. The 'norm' is no$gba, with Desmume and iDeaS close second places and improved nicely. no$gba hasnt been updated for a year and half, so... For CPS3 and similar arcade boards, FinalBurnAlpha would do well. Bonus: very frequently updated.

Here's an incredibly badass one from Nintendo.

How do i get rid of spyware pop-ups?
Hard Core Rikki replied to SF2MJ's topic in Nerd's Chatter [/nerds]
aSquared could do, I presume (for home users) http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/ -
Not more than just optimized transmission of the display of remotedlyexecuted games. Unlikely to scale well compared with ressource strain. In compareason, provided that your PC can receive video streams of X certain resolution without lagging, you could pull up with running PCSX2/Left4Dead maxxed out and streamed to your lowend P4/Geforce5 (article looks more sensationalist than factual, and hints at the idea of a tight vendor lock-in that will likely be associated with premium subscriptions for -continued- access to games. Also, many games are not supposed to be used in such commercial ways I believe -a specific clause against *streaming* for some games-). Pay now, keep paying. Generating hype about your ideas early can be unwise, when just the idea is thrown in the wild, but not much/nothing to back it up, other than a theory about 1ms latency. Hats off if they manage that without specially tweaked proprietary tcp drivers.

Blocks PatMii and Twilight Hack (again). This update has been deployed in Korea, for the moment being. Through QuickJump.

iDeaS 1.0.3.0 beta for Windows released
Hard Core Rikki replied to Robert's topic in Emulator Releases [/emu]
Desmume progress is more interesting to follow now. Its opensource, and progresses are futureproof (no need to fear the bus thing, like with no$gba) -
For what reason? Its opensource too. Other than maybe "too fast progress", there isnt really anything. Addendum: "you of course have to use your own files from YOUR WII. We will not help you with getting the Wii-OS." Were you thinking of the x264, xvid and faac cases in particular, robert?

Quick screenie. More on Dolphin-emu.

No smoking. Unhealthy, as well as would be a bad example to impressionable youths.

- "Anime Network" (not sure about that one) - AB Mangas AB Mangas is french. Due to regulations from the local culture committees, they broadcast french productions during about half the day (like the oldschool franco-japano co-productions, broadcasted during the least busy times, basically airtime "filler" for late nights and early mornings). (not unlike what they have in the rest of europe and Canada for example, about giving the local audiovideo production a minimum airtime between to a third or half of total daily/weekly airtime). Preserving the cultural exception or so...

The old plugins dont necessarily work well with the updated version (SaPu's cdr got updated recently and performs better than better, with sub reading). A number of graphic-specific issues can be related to the integrated software renderer and the new frameskipping/limiting method (if enabled in the plugin, disable it). All in all, which specific plugins didnt work in your case, and if any specific settings that didnt in 1.7.0 but worked in 1.6.0 , mention those.

Wii WAD Discussion
Hard Core Rikki replied to Omegadox's topic in Wii & GameCube Emulators [/pc/wii+gc]
Any preliminary listing of WADs that boot, omega? (compat listing basically) -
VBA-M is independent now and not 'vendorlocked' into any external sites. The old subdomain is pretty much obsolete/inactive and doesnt redirect (yet?) to the new location. Last rev is 854, and new homepage and its official forum, so for VBA-M progress and updates, one location: http://www.vba-m.com http://www.vba-m.com/forum/

What Movie Did you Just Watch?
Hard Core Rikki replied to GodPigeon's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
CSI, the movie. Quite the very good investigation serie, especially CSI:Miami. -
There would be emulation involved, no questions asked. "KEEP" set this goal upon itself (more ambitious than MAME and MESS, from what I see). More here: link Being planned to be crossplatform, porting wouldnt be an issue (theoretically for now, as the driver-based design is similar to MAME's, and technically could be extended to cover new consoles and new gamesets). Apparently based in party on the design of Dioscuri, btw.

emulators for the ds
Hard Core Rikki replied to endoplasmic reticulum's topic in DS Emulators [/pc/ds]
NeoDS http://groups.google.com/group/neods NeoGeo games on the DS. Pretty much fullspeed too. -
Gift coupons for a retail videogame box, or an amazon/aff store card of a specific value (to spend at their leisure) could fly higher, for a gamer community (2 birds with one stone, if from an aff store). Direct cash offering can take the magic out of it. Last year's categories seem ok to reuse again. There difficultly can be originality in forum-specific events after all, and these weren't bad last year either.

Visualboy Pokemon Emerald Update Help!
Hard Core Rikki replied to DSpwner's topic in Other Emulators [/pc/other]
Do you have specific version numbers for these builds? (more exactly, what builds and versions are the 'old' and 'new' one). VBA-M also has a 1.8.0 SVN version number in the about box, so you might wish to confirm it's not actually that. Are the saves you mention battery files or savestates?
