  2. Nope. GD-ROMs have two regions and they're both read like a standard disk. The inner region is a standard density CD-ROM, but the outer ring (which you can see with your plain eye), is of a higher density. It holds ~1GB of data. Not that much closer. 1GB is only ~30% more than a standard CD. You can read GD-ROMs using a method in which you open a DVD drive, use a specially burned disk, and then swap in the GD-ROM and read it RAW. Again, that's not how GD-ROMs work. However, using a firmware hack on a DVD drive, it may be possible to read the high-density GD section of the disk.
  3. Yup. More of the same. :S No biggie though, I just sucked it up and am re-installing XP SP2.
  4. Completely removed it, and I'm still getting a "This device cannot start (Code 10)" error. :S Any other ideas at all?
  5. Damn, just $98.95 over what I can afford. SO CLOSE!
  6. So here's the deal, my sister's boyfriend installed Avast Virus Scanner on her PC (after removing Symantec's Antivirus (Corporate / 10.x)) and her sound stopped working. So I started looking and tried reinstalling her sound drivers Realtek AC'97. Her PC reset every time it started to finalize the installation. :S Weird. So I completely disabled that sound card (It's integrated), and installed a Creative one that I had laying around. No cigar, still giving 'Device not working' error (or something like that). :S So I made a guess and decided to try a fresh windows install, on a different HDD I had laying around, and the sound works. The main problem is, I really don't want to have to deal with re-installing/transferring all of her crap, into a new install (I'm not letting her keep that HDD), and having to help her set everything up. I guess I could try uninstalling Avast's Antivirus, but in case that doesn't work, does anyone else have any suggestions?
  7. The chicken, by way of evolution. Huzzah! Creatures were laying eggs long before the Chicken ever evolved... or birds for that matter.
  8. I, for one, am glad. I'm really enjoying the PS3 going down in flames.
  9. I've got one: A man walks into a restaurant, sits down, orders Sea Gull. He takes a single bite, goes outside and kills himself. Why? I can only answer 'yes' or 'no'
  10. In the Nebula section, in one of the stickies (something like CPS3 manual or like that), you gotta look really close. It's hard to spot the link.
  11. That is down-right beautiful Love me some BB.
  12. Shash has written a pretty large post with an informal to-do list. He's also managed to fix Dead 'n' Furious. Screenshots and full text here: http://shashemudev.blogspot.com/2007/08/sm...provements.html
  13. Rudolph's DLDI 3-in-1 backup tool makes backups of saves using any fat slot-1 and the 3-in-1 card. It can also restore saves. Also, if you look for my R4 firmware patching tool, it can remove the save size check allowing for pretty much any sized save file.
  14. I don't know, never used MAME on xbox. I assume it will be slower unless they're using the assembler (asm) 68k core too.
  15. The metal slug games are particularly laggy as they use a lot of cpu while emulating. I'd suggest trying fba-xxx pro, sometimes it has things fixed that plain old fba-xxx does not.

  17. I'm not sure of the legality of modchip bios' for PS2. Anyone mind filling me in?
  18. I'll have to agree with Rob. I can't say I think DS's work is good, but making personal attacks against him is definitely not good. You may want to refer to the forum rules.
  19. What's new? Am I missing something here?
  20. I've been in the emulation scene for quite a long time now. It has ups and downs. Just because we're in a lull, it doesn't mean that emulation is going to die any time soon.
  21. Find the romsets that actually have the files that are reported as missing by the MAME you're using. Good luck with this though. Like has been said, MAME32K .64 is very old, romsets change fairly frequently.
  22. You need to find a site offering the proper roms for it. Don't ask for them here. That's pretty much the only thing you can do.
