There arcade versions of NES games on VS & Playchoice 10 hardware. http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/romset/excitebk http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/romset/pc_ebike -
That is the exact card I have. It runs everything I throw at it beautifully -- I can run the Crysis 2 Beta at 1366x768, Hardcore settings, at a pretty constant 50+fps. A few downsides -- the fan is loud as hell and it heats up pretty quick (though the temps don't seem to bother it, it freaks me out a bit). The card overclocks beautifully though, not that it is necessary. Btw my cpu is only a 2.8 c2d, 4gb of ram, 64-bit win7. This is the card for me then, on the day when I make the trip to the store if they are out of stock I will just get anything as close to it as I can if thats higher or slightly lower.. My 8800GS fan is pretty loud sometimes when I start up my rig it just whirls it's testicles off for no apparent reason, I do have under floor heating though but it has never been an issue in the past, I cant wait to get this sucker!!! I have a dual core athalon kicking in at 3.2 and only two gigs of ram, I may need to buy a power supply unit as I think i only have a 4 pinned socket for my card... Two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors are needed, god dam it!!! Im not entirely sure whats floating about in my case but Ill check it out as soon as I get a date for my money next week, Plus it says need dual PCI space for the card (it must be a fatty) Im pretty sure I have that, http://www.pcparts.com.my/msik9n-neof-ms73...-usb-p-503.html Not sure if it will fit?? It is a fairly wide card -- definitely going to need the second slot (my mobo/tower is set up for a 2x slot card), and fairly long (it nearly rests on my ram module). The Palit cards are shorter than pretty much any other 460 card though. Seriously a beast of a card. There hasn't been too much that I've thrown at it that even makes it stutter... as long as you don't expect a crazy high resolution.

Bought a new video card...big mistake
iq_132 replied to ken_cinder's topic in Nerd's Chatter [/nerds]
Just some advice in the future, always check reviews and comparison charts when buying cpu/gpu. Like you said, the companies have made buying them unbelievably confusing for your average joe. A few months back I decided I need to upgrade my old geforce 8600 gt and spent two weeks trying to sort out what my best option for my price range was (I'm an Nvidia fan, so I was hoping to stick with them). After reading the reviews, I decided on the gtx 460. This would have been an easy choice, but there are two version of the gtx 460, a 768mb and 1gb version, and on top of that there are several manufacturers that customize each card a little. From there, I checked out the newegg listing, performance reviews (including noise levels from the fans!), the prices, and then customer reviews. I still ended up getting not exactly what I wanted. The company making the card i bought had two different cooling solutions on the same product. I got the one that sounds like a mini-jet-engine with heavy usage. -
it is possible, but it will take a port of a cpu core. I really hate porting cpu cores. ok, well thanks for the reply. I just started learning java and can't imagine the effort and xpertise involved trying to port something like a cpu core! any interesting projects at the moment? A couple of things, but not anything that is impressive to most people. -- I started teaching myself 68000 assembly -- starting with ripping the protection out of the Cave PGM games (This is completed ) -- Confirmed a cpu bug in FBA's musashi 680ec20 core. It affects two games as far as I can tell. I have yet to track it down exactly what operation is wrong though. -- Worked on breaking the encryption on an unemulated system I'd rather not mention (incomplete) -- Did a little work for a friend on some CoinOps drivers (a few are complete, a few not, when I get more time I'll update more)

what emu/games are you playing on your xbox?
iq_132 replied to fumanchu's topic in XBOX Hacks [/xbox]
Yeah, I know about it. These are the same people that released "Last Hope" on Dreamcast & Neo-Geo CD/MVS/AES. Have you heard about the upcoming game Gun-Lord? Side note -- favorite shmup (any system)? Been loving Ketsui, Espgaluda, and DDP3 lately. Ikaruga rocks my socks. -

Icky ick. Vertical shooter on 4:3 rather than 3:4. :S -
Also added Knuckle Bash 2 to the toaplan2 driver. http://neosource.1emu.net/temporary_uploads/toaplan2.rar

A friend of mine asked me to fix some games ages, ago. Here are the ones I've gotten to: The first is that I hooked up the Sample player to the game Journey, Implemented a "pause" function, etc. This makes it so that the song plays at the end after you beat the crazy-weird minigames.http://neosource.1emu.net/temporary_upload...sample_play.rar The second is that I added the game Recalhorn to the taito_f3 driver. I have a feeling it will be very slow. I may have to implement a speed hack. http://neosource.1emu.net/temporary_upload...nops_update.rar

That's pretty sweet. ^^

It wasn't exactly protection-related. The sound program is uploaded to ram and then run by a nec v25/v35 cpu. This particular cpu wasn't emulated until recently (well.. it's a bit complicated, but not emulated is the easiest way to explain). Doubtful to ever see it in coinops, but it's pretty likely to end up in fbal at some point. I just have to get bored enough to port the cpu core + changes.

If I can cut you a check or pay with a big sack of pennies, I will absolutely donate. My bank anal rapes me when transfer funds to paypal.

Honestly it is pretty unlikely that it would play perfectly on xbox. It takes a big chunk of cpu and makes heavy usage of the slowest parts of the pgm emulation (sprites). On top of that, it uses almost 70mb of ram (so it would need a vmm hooked up). I've got some ideas on how to speed up the sound emulation a bit, but other than that, there's not a lot I can do. I did have a version of the pgm driver that ran quite well on xbox a while ago, but it was based on extremely old sources - no sprite priorities, lots of unemulated features. :S

I strongly agree.

"Everything" can run on with 128MB of RAM on that crappy Xbox, things are definitely easier. That's why CPX3 is really an amazing emulator ---> runs with only 64MB and a crappy CPU, with a more than decent speed. lol excellent. Moooo!! How's it going Q? Everything good with P and M?
-
Count me out. I'd have to port a cpu core and in the past that has proven to be a severe pain in the dick. Sorries.

jodo you might want to delete that link because we are not to link to sites with rom, xbox games and stuff like that on this site, just letting you know dude. Agreed. Warned.

Hmmm. -
DS would run like dog turds on the XBox. The cpu may be a 733, but it feels more like in the 500mhz range. RAM wouldn't be much of an issue for this as the cartridge has a filesystem on it, it would be easy enough to put the cart on the hdd and stream whatever is needed from it. The main issue is that the main ARM9 (~66mhz) and sub [sound] ARM7 (~33mhz) cpus would overtax the xbox's main cpu. ARM-type cpus are generally not fast or easy to emulate. The next issue would be that the graphics would have to be either HLE'd (complex & buggy) or LLE'd (good, but slow as hell).
